Christmas night 2024, it was 1:30 in the morning (perks of a broken family, I can go and hang out with my gf on holidays since they’re so watered down for me now) I was headed home to my moms from my gfs house. It was pitch black with the perfect amount of fog. Not too much to where I can’t see anything, but not enough to see far past the horizon. As I drove, I saw maybe a dozen cars total on the 6 mile drive home. There was nothing but me out there. As I got to my moms neighborhood, I stopped at a 3 way stop. I noticed nobody around. Not a single soul. I didn’t even pull over, I just put my car in park and got out. For 25 minutes not a soul was stirring around me. I felt the ethereal bliss of pure silence in a liminal space like I’ve never felt before. I got to remember good moments in life. I got to thank God for the beautiful scene He gave me that night. Nothing I’ve ever felt before compares to that moment. I felt like the whole world paused, and gave me a chance to truly be alone from the world and its fallacies for just a moment. This song puts me back in that headspace. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had the whole highway to myself. The whole road. I got to break away from everything and everyone. It was beautiful. This song brings back beauty I could never properly describe, nothing gets me more liminal than this song
