Dog fell off the cliff, got stuck on the platform and had no way to get out. Rescuers used the rope to get down and get her back up. Took them a while to catch the poor doggy.

Oktoberfest 2019 at Lake McClure. Third flight. I was hoping to catch another ride up, but everyone were staying up. Then at some point thermals died and everyone landed. Masayo gave me a ride and launched me. I did my best to circle but there were literally nothing. Good practice still and I'm happy. LZ socks were again showing 90 deg difference, this stuff kept confusing me. Lesson learned: o...

Oktoberfest 2019 at Lake McClure. Second flight. Supposed to be morning flight, but you know how it goes. Launched closer to noon. I wanted to go early to have another run in the afternoon if I can catch a ride. So I went first. Found some lift to the right of the playground area and got above the launch. Didn't want to do full 360s close to the ground at a new spot and thus lost some altitude....

Oktoberfest 2019 at Lake McClure. My first flight there. The rule is, do 2 flights in calmer conditions (morning or late afternoon), then you can go whenever. Waited until 4pm for the thermals at LZ to calm down a little. I've seen people landing there in rough conditions, better safe than sorry. Got some fun experience with ramp suck. Different feeling from typical Ed Levin. Had to commit afte...

Hot, some clouds to the south, pretty far away. Clear sky at Ed Levin. -2.5 lapse rate. A few P4s had prolonged flights skimming the ridges 1-2h before my flight, but eventually they got down. Launched in the cycle and got slightly above the launch. Tiny punchy thermals, too small to stay in. Got some lift around 600, but not much.

S wind 10-15mph. Unstable air. Clouds and longer cycles in the morning. 1-1:30 min cycles became more of 20s when I was launching around noon. I had to wait a little for a good one not to sink right away. It worked out and I got over the launch. Found a thermal to the right. Someone was more successful further more inland but I had no altitude to get there. Lost mine at some point. Strong sink ...

4th flight from Ed Levin. Very smooth air, but not much lift. Punchy thermals that I wasn't able to circle successfully. Flight stats are at the very end of the video. Track: doarama.com/view/2204869 ayvri.com/scene/z85qpygpj4/13_mins_flight_from_the_top_of_ed_levin_1700ft UPDATE: figured out my landing problem. The leg straps needed tightening and fixing. I love these final approaches! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Great demonstration!
Nice flight! Too bad it wasn't great air. Your flare timing was a little late and you shouldn't be afraid to fix a wing if it doesn't feel right, like coming in on approach when your body was sagging on the left side- pulling that left wing back unintentionally. Your harness will take some time to get flat, but it will take much longer if you don't completely zip into it and get comfortable. Try zipping it as much as you can with one hand, and then using your other hand to close the left side flap, quickly grab the zipper with your steering hand and zip up the rest of the way. ****oh no my hands off the bar??! Yes. lol just for a second or two. hell, go at it for a minute if you want, as long as you're at trim and the air isn't trashy, you're just gonna float along. Use common sense. Point away from the mountain and wait until you're completely clear from launch.**** Once you've transformed into a smooth burrito, just wriggle around in your hippie sack and get that harness worn in. Twisting your hips and wriggling around will allow the harness and hang straps to get even and symmetrical against your CG loops while you're prone. Why not be lazy and fly out with your **** out? Well if you zip up and get comfy you will actually notice your handling improve over time *gasp*. One last thing. Your wire guide is your safety during those conditions. When your wire guide moves out of the way when you yell clear and they clear your wing for a safe launch, you launch immediately, OR ask the wire guide to grab you again. Just because it was a calm, lull cycle does not mean the environment will let you get away with a few extra seconds.
