Oy. I'm not a fan of "hacks". There's no substitute for the hard work of using tried and true gardening practices over time to really learn your own garden.

Took a chance with peas and potatoes. I put them in the first of February. They came up and did good but the last freeze made the peas struggle and knocked the potatoes back to ground level. Now I have picked four pickings of peas. Sadly the heat and humidity are now causing mildew on them.

The podcast before this one I kept saying ducks! I love my ducks. They love Beatles and roly-poly. Love listening to yall. I’m in north Mississippi zone 8 now.

Thanks for answering my question! Hoping to start myself a peach tree or two in pots because my wife and I may move in the coming year or two and I don’t want to waste my efforts by leaving it behind! I appreciate the advice 🙂

we decided to do audio only for now. Not enough people were watching for us to continue putting the effort into video. Hopefully in the future we will start back with video.

Question of the day: this is embarrassing, but I’ve literally listened to at minimum 40 episodes and I still can’t tell. Is Leonard a real person or just a joke you guys make?

I grew watermelons one time. I was astonished when I saw one of my Pit Bulls eating a watermelon. 😳 Dogs like fruit but it never occurred to me that they would like *that* particular fruit.

This feels like a silly question... Are we able to view the screen share of you using the Planter App. I was listening on Spotify, then came here to find it but I am not having luck. Thanks for your help! Sorry if it's totally obvious and I missed it!

You lost me on this one, awhile back you were objecting to do anything to enhance a seed calling it an insult to the creator that a seed would need help to grow, but fertilizer is a necessity because the soil doesn't have enough to support life? How is it that forests and prairies do it?

Okay, I listened to the entire episode again and I got it. We use leaf mulch in the rows between the garden beds and soak them well. I also wonder what you know about what kind of effect the smoky skies have had.@@backyardgardenspodcast

Hey fellows, would like to suggest another way to use vinegar in your environment to improve your area. So you take your fire pit or your grill, start it up. Take a gallon of white distilled vinegar, pour it in a pot, boil it outside and wallah…watch your immediate localized atmospheric environment. 🙌🙏

I've got a lot of empty gelatin capsules that I put some seeds and seed starter soil in, I've read that the gelatin is beneficial. Ever hear of that?

I've used vinegar with great success. If it doesn't seem potent enough, dissolving some salt in it helps too.

Kale is amazing. So healthy and versatile. I was thrilled a few years ago when my kale overwintered in my zone 6 garden. I do it the same way ever since to be harvesting early in the spring.
