Truly a lost art form that will probably never be brought back to Japanese film industry when you can just CGI it into a scene. The last Godzilla film to use suit acting to portray Toho’s kaiju was Godzilla Final War. Was the final film to use kaiju suits, and miniatures truly an end of an era. Would’ve Godzilla minus one been better if Godzilla was suit instead of a cgi Godzilla? Maybe but it would’ve been near impossible to make those scenes look good using suit acting and practical effects. They did indeed splice practical elements into the scenes but most was on a lot. The closeup with Godzilla’s mouth with the mine in it alone looked practical instead of cgi. Minusgoji joins the ranks of the greatest Godzilla designs ever even if he isn’t a kaiju suit. R.i.p. Suitmation😢

I remember seeing this along with other trailers on a bootleg Godzilla Final Wars DVD that my family had when I was a kid. They would all play after the movie ended, and it was so cool seeing all of those trailers at the end. I wish that Toho included all of the trailers and TV spots for this movie on the DVDs and Blu-rays. I will say, up until my family got the official Godzilla Final Wars DVD, with the way how the bootleg was made, as a kid I always thought that was the official version of the movie.
