If you manage to weasel the locking plate's retaining clip out with picks and pushing on the plate because you can't get the special tool... Going back together is easy: Work the clip ring down to the plate (past the clockspring's snap ring groove) until it is touching the plate. Then a 4" long piece of copper pipe placed over the steering shaft will seat the ring with a good (medium hard) tap with a hammer. Check to see that the ring is seated all the way around, if not just push the plate on the side where ring didn't seat and push that side of the clip in with a screwdriver. Now you have a special tool that fits in the toolbox nicely.

It works on my f20 manual. I have 2 keys, one works, another one didn’t. First use the working one to unlock the car door; Second, put the working key far away from the car, to let the car cannot sense it, I put around 50 meters away. Third, go back to the car with the non working key, do the same as the video said, manual car use clutch pedal instead of brake. Forth, the non working key will be accepted by the car.

Can anyone try this by the used keyfob? I mean same keyfob with yours but comes from the other car but same model and year...because my friend she has an extra keyfob from her 328i same exactly of my car but i try to do in this video but doen't work....maybe it works only for new keyfob..

In the Universal Key Menu after selecting the correct year/make/model you must press the “Generate Universal key” icon?not the upgrade icon. Will definitely solve your issue.👍

This is how its done: Open old shell of bmw fob Take the “green panel” - a motherboard- out and place it in exactly the same way - in the new key fob. Close it. Open a back of key fob and placed a new battery positive side up. You may have hold the key next to the key sign once to start the car. After that the fob is programmed and good to use. PS If you place the battery in while the whole thing is open a lot easier just make sure the positive side of the battery is down. Hope it helps, enjoy 😉

Hello I have an original key with a brand new battery (f20 2016) with confort access. I can t open or close the door with the buttons. I tried your tutorial with brake and start and the car engine start normally but i still can t open/close the car with buttons What do you think i can do ?

I have BMW X3 2014 and I encountered to "Replace remote control battery" message. I replaced battery but I received same error again. I tried 3-4 brands of batteries but my problem did not resolved. Hi I am having the following trouble, my key fob wont lock the car at all, i have changed the key fob battery and still no luck. Strange 2 things is, 1. it does allow me to still start/drive/stop the car. 2. I can not lock the car with the manual metal key either. Really stuck on what to do, i have tried reprogramming the key, as shown in the video, it did nothing

I have a spare fob not the original (random). Dealer gave this to me probably from another bmw. Can I use this fob to program / activate with my BMW X3?

When i try this, my car just starts without issues. But the car won't recognize the key until I touch the column with it. I replaced the battery and still the same thing. Are there any other suggestions?
