Thursday, August 7, 1958: Celebrating BC's Centennial Year On this day in history, the Seaview Highway opened a mainland router from Vancouver to Squamish. A huge motorcade travelling north from Horseshoe Bay and a motorcade travelling south from Pemberton met in Squamish that afternoon. A four day celebration followed.     And here we are, 80 years later, in a country that has almost become a communist country 😷 with Trudeau imposing martial law on the entire country because of a peaceful protest. 02.26.2022

    You talk about work.topping a tree all done by hand with an axe.dad would spend most of a day doing a standing tree.ate his lunch up there no sense coming down you just had to go all the way up again.then rigging a standing tree that was work. Some of those bull blocks were monsters.tons and tons of gear to go up there

    I grew up in the industry everybody I knew when I was a kid worked the forest industry.grandad was a millwright and helped to build Fraser Mills.dad ,uncles ,cousins ,even my mom worked in a plywood plant.pacific veneer.thats my uncle joe rigging that tree.My dad was a rigger too at Chamiss bay on the west coast of the island.uncle joe quit rigging and ran the towers when they came.

    It sure brought back memories. We moved to Britannia in 1952 and later to Squamish, both places have many fond memories. Thanks for posting it.

    so much change but easy to recognize areas in this film....brownings lake, top of "crankshaft hill", downtown, dentville, estates and eagle run....was neat to watch this
