Testing 1/2 oz Gold Krugerrand coin various ways including ultrasound thickness gauge
In this video I will test a 1/2 oz South Africa Krugerrand Gold Coin, using the same methodology I have used in previous videos, if you are not familiar with the use of the ultrasound thickness gauge, I will encourage you to check out my other videos to learn more about it.
The ultrasound gauge used in this video is the ET 400 Ultrasound thickness gauge by Elpidan. This video is solely meant for educational purposes only.

How to calculate the density of gold alloys or any metal alloy using a mathematical equation.
Переглядів 6 тис.3 роки тому
In this video I will explore an equation used to determine what the volume of a metal alloy should be according to the metal parts content and use this information to determine what the density of that alloy should be. A 1/2 oz 1980 South Africa Krugerrand gold coin is used to determine its volume and density (specific gravity). This coin is made up of an alloy 91.67% gold and 8.33% copper.

Is this coin real or at least made up of gold?? Density and Ultrasound testing of a 1988 Australian 1 oz Gold Nugget coin. Can anyone find out why apmex.com has a different value than other websites for the thickness of this coin? Is there a reliable source for the specs of this coin?
Is this Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin real?

Is my 50 pesos Centenario gold coin real? (Gold coin testing methods)

Sources for this coin’s specifications were gathered from the “American Precious Metals Exchange” www.apmex.com and “La Casa de La Moneda Mexico” www.cmm.gob.mx This video is intended for educational purpouses only.
Hola I Know your name is Mr Carlos And A Little Girl Named Nia And Work At Willys Hair Cuts In Henderson Nevada
magnet test, should not be attracted to a magnet, wieigh it, 31.1 grams, measure it, ping it
I pause at 1 second and so I want to guess based on the thumbnail I guess it's real and I have a lot of maples. Now let's find out.
One of my favorite coins!
How about Mexican 50 peso coin in 1888 because I have one
i wonder if you can hold at least till Monday i be much appreciated
I have that kind of gold coin 1801
If the thickness and diameter are correct then how could the volume ever be not correct ?
Excellent commentary and structured remarks. Very well explained!
It is absolutely real
If you hold this coin for more then 12 hours. Does it change the color of your skin to green? If so that would indicate it is alloyed (fake)
I’d say it’s real. Passed the ping test. Looks like an older maple before the security features.
I have tested coins in the same way you just did. I was just wondering if the Centenario coin will test out right when it come to being diamagnetic I know all the modern coins & bars do, but when it comes to the pre 1933 coins they don't seem to work with that test. They act as if they are paramagnetic, they must have some impurities in them. As you know I'm sure Tungsten is paramagnetic where as gold & silver & coper .... are diamagnetic... Luckily for us. I float them on water using a lid then slowly push a strong rare earth magnet towards them to see if it pushes away or draws towards it....
Thickness for canadian maple leaf should be 2.80mm
But if they send me a solid gold coin that is 2.8cm thick, im not complaining:)
Very interesting video, I'm fascinated by the pitch of the coins. Also, the method of volume measuring is brilliantly accurate. Depending on what the black things on your caliper are, your measurement will be off if you exert any pressure more than just touching the coin ;-). It seems to me, with the correct weight and shiny surface, people holding it does not account for size variation, the cheap caliper is the more likely source ;-)
Very interesting, New Sub👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦
i hav this coin . how much it worth .
That appears to be a fake, but take it to a coin dealer and have them test it.
The sound was kind of weird on it
To much work buy from brand names APMEX jm bullion mcmcoin sd bullion. .etc.
Apmex and JM are reputable but always have the highest fees. Stick with SD, Hero, or Monument metals.
NEver in a million years. Would you get a fake coin from JM or Apmex, they could be closed down by the secret service faster than Shit through a goose
Never quibble when it comes to gold
My 1983 1oz gold maple weight 31.18 and does pass the ping test, but it's real Some 1oz coins don't make pings
Do gold coin with similar metal composition give off a ring like this? For instance the gold eagle is .900 with 10% copper. Would it give off a ping similar to this?
😢😮😮😮
Nope its fake
Long video but that coin in the thumbnail is not an authentic gold maple leaf
You have to understand that when you're dealing with point 07 on the width or circumference, It's no Big deal, The coin is real I can tell just by looking at it
No idea how much did you pay for that mint, but mine ( wife) costed in 1959 $ 50.00 dollars at a bank in Mexico
I have 50 pesos gold coin & and I want to sell this coin
Very nice details thanks ks😊
Thickness at the edge is 2.8 mm, not cm. Good video

I have one like it how much is it worth
Hello, I have a piece that my father brought from France in 1996, but it weighs 22g, is it fake or what
Please how to calculate speed of sound waves
Hello i need your help. How to calculate gold density in Kerosene oil. I know gold density in water but i need gold density in Kerosene calculation
Your calipers have some rubber on them and that adds to the thickness which won’t give you an accurate reading. You should remove them
You can zero it how you want
@@alanroberts6918 oh yeah you right!
Buy from Scottsdale and you'll never get a counterfeit, also Apmex trains their workers and they have to be licensed to inspect each gold coin for authentication
Ring that bell 😀
Anyone with the golden eye can tell a gold coin is real or not from the very moment they lay eyes on it
have you seen the gold eagle that was carved out and inserted with a tungsten plate?
Yes, but i need to hold it my hands
@@rumcoke9123no, But it wouldn't weigh right and it wouldn't pass my Sigma
You can tell by the sun reflecting off the coin that it's absolutely real, what's in the middle can be easily detected with a sigma machine.
gravity/density test, dimensions and weight test, and sound wave test are 3 out of four pillars. Having 4/4 tests is more than what bullion dealers do..... so good on you. I don't give much credit to ping tests.... neither do bullion dealers I think it's gold ;) 4x9s Queen's gold
Cant help but notice you keep saying Water Water Water. Yet you use an Oil Base... What gives?
I have the same coin,,sadly my Sigma won`t register it,,the few times it does the reading is just outside the brackets,,the case is thick and I don`t know how to remove it from the case
Thank you for your video. Regarding 8:48, counterfeiters have been using gold covered tungsten to make fake gold coins, because tungsten has a density which almost the same as gold which is 19.3 grams per cubic centimeter. However by using the neodymium magnet test, a genuine Gold Krugerrand suspended on a pendulum is diamagnetic and thus is slightly repelled by a neodymium magnet whereas tungsten is paramagnetic and thus is slightly attracted towards a neodymium magnet as demonstrated @ ua-cam.com/video/SgPOPozHRow/v-deo.html. Regarding 9:26, a genuine Gold Krugerrand will produce a resonating ringing sound with the acoustic ping test whereas a gold plated tungsten Fake Krugerrand will produce a dull thud sound as demonstrated @ ua-cam.com/video/boB4yyS-fDk/v-deo.html
I have 4 of those coins I inherited from my father that he purchased in the 1970s but I had to gold coins expert telling me are not real; but want to buy them at $2000 only. I wonder if the that is a honest offer or whether they are lying to me.
Don’t sell to that dealer!
Not real but want to buy it for $2000 lol they want to rip you off
I just pinged my 50 Peso. It’s amazing how long the ringing sound lasts.
The best test ever. That is why the 22K gold coins are the best for amateur gold bugs.
i have a gold ring with that same face on it with the angel , what it worth and its 18k
Where did you get it from? Was it made from the coin?
@@elbucho8867 no its a full ring
What is silver density tablet
the mexican coins are usually real because chinese people prefer to make fake eagles, walking libertys or morgan dollars. the american coins are more replicated, the mexican people make fake coins but they only exist in mexico

My 1945, 50 Pesos gold coin has a diameter: 36.85 mm and thickness: 2.60 mm, it makes a nice ping sound, and the magnet doesn't stick. The dimensions are a tiny bit low? But I believe it is real. The specification sheet says that the coin is 90% gold and 10% copper and that its density is 17.1 grams/cc. This information is used to test the coin... Test1: weigh the coin... The coin itself lists 37.5 grams of pure gold in the coin. So by mathematics the weight of the coin = 37.5/0.9 = 41.67 grams and must weigh that amount if it is authentic. Test 2: measure its volume... Its density is 17.1 gram/cc therefore the volume of the coin must be 41.67/17.1 = 2.43 cc. And you showed how to measure the coins' volume by weighing it in water--Amazing! Since water has a density of 1 gram/cc, the coins' volume was found by immersing it completely in water and that weight equals the volume of the coin. I must purchase the micro balance to be able to do tests 1 and 2 in order to further verify my coin. Thanks JC and Staff.
How much did your coin weigh?
@@TheLastKing101 I don't have a mini scale so have not weighed it. But my grandmother gifted this coin to me, and she bought it in Venezuela in 1950, so I believe it to be authentic. But when I get the mini scale, I'll check.
