Do you know of a good website for free hazmat practice test? The ones I've been using weren't even on the test.

New to your channel. Ended my authority looking at landstar. You're the 2nd guy on youtube who's said they had to get the inspection done on a trailer they just picked up.

Are a lot of the loads preloaded / drop and hook? Or do u do a lot of live loading and unloading? (For dry van). How are the trailers? Are they in really good shape, clean and in good working order? Thanks for the info!

Welcome to Landstar! I’ve been here just over a year, and love the freedom. There is a learning curve, but once you get comfortable it’s no big deal. Some agents will burn you, just move on and put them on your do not haul list.

How do I get to know the distance between two points using the equipment ...most times I plot with system before I could know the distance but most client will want to know the length of the measurements immediately.

Great to hear you got a trailer so quick. It'll take a bit to learn the agents, and their habits. Some are an absolute pleasure to work with, while others are a complete nightmare. Don't be hesitate to get corporate involved if things really go sideways between you and an agent. Because they sure won't hesitate to call corporate on you. I've only had to get corporate involved 3 times in 2 years. And I really hate doing that. Grown men should be able to own their mistakes, and work them out. But there are a few that won't.

Man you should love it here, find you 3-5 agents to work with and they will keep you moving! July will be two years being here and I love it and planning on retiring from Landstar. My only complaint is trailers, it took a while to get my hands on a new trailer and I don’t do drop & hooks anymore. My goal is to get my own trailer but I am not willing to pay $90,000 for a 2023 trailer dry van!

Things are looking good so far in my first full week. I'm just focusing on getting through this learning curve right and get comfortable with the Landstar way. LOL Stay safe out there.

you cn buy a new dry van for $38k including FET. You still at landstar? Rates still good? Agents playing nice and being fair?

Welcome to the ⭐ Couple of things, of interest. While you're in Indy. Drop by the Flying J and grab some new decals ;) If nothing else, grab some quality numbers that stick better. And don't look like a mailbox. The print shop there does a great job. Trailer wait? It's a crap shoot. It took 24 hours for me, once I got on the list. But I know others that waited 7-10 days. Patience is really is a virtue here. And you'll find it tested in the beginning. Many of the agents will view you as fresh meat. Blowing your phone up, and rushing you to decide on a load. DON'T let them do it. There's plenty of time to make those decisions. You live in one of the best markets there is. You should do well.

Thanks for checking out my video. I've watched several of yours and I appreciate the advice. I laughed when I saw those mailbox numbers in the packet and made my own on the Cricut machine. The Flying J sells in Indy actual Landstar decals? I'm already prepared to have to wait for a trailer, and I live close enough that I will just go back to the house and wait. I've set myself up pretty good to be able to do the "hurry up and wait" game. Coming from being leased on to FedEx, this will be less stressful, but I'm sure there will be things that will test my patience. I'm sure we'll see each other out there eventually. Be safe.

There's actually a decal shop inside the Flying J. The guy does many of our trucks. And he provides a 3 year warranty on the letters and installation. I chose a 2 color design, and have had zero problems in 2 years. Even after repeated washings. Definitely less stress here. And very limited contact from Corporate. You are pretty much on your own, unless you make the call yourself.
