So, it finally happended! Black Rose Immortal performed live in its entirety by Opeth. Can't believe after all this time they did it. A few "new-Opeth-era" tweaks to the song, sounded nice. This version is just slightly longer than the album version, which is just over 20 minutes long.

Lovely bears frolicking in Landgoed Hoenderdaell which is an estate in Anna Paulowna in the north-west of Holland. There are 4 bears, 2 big ones (Boyko and Boyana) who were saved from Bulgaria where they were only fed corn cakes to eventually be hunted down by rich people for a certain bounty... Pathetic! The other 2 bears (Boris and Bryana) came as a surprise a few years ago since the caretake...

Just realized that this Graham Gouldman and the 10CC Gouldman are the same man. This makes 10CC twice as cool to me as they were. First heard this song in 1965 or 1966 by the Yardbirds. Just a crazy 8 year old who was already hooked on rock and roll. Need to get “The Graham Gouldman Thing” now.

I had a similar experience at the concert, but for me it was harlequin forest, the first opeth song I heard and still my favourite! Sadly where i stood (front centre) the sound wasn't very good and the vocals a bit lost... But it got better after a while. Also moon above sun below is also my second favourite song :)
Their music means so much to a lot of people. How one music virtuoso can create so much interesting and diverse songs...

@@ru-annmartina330 Ja, maar het zijn ook andere genres: Tribulation: Death/Gothic Metal Uada: Melodic Black Metal. En dat is best wel een verschil. Ik snapte de hele compositie van de line-up trouwens ook niet, want Idle Hands is Gothic Rock en dat past dan wel bij de Tribulation, maar Gaahl's Wyrd is pure (Pagan) Black Metal en Uada is moderne BM. Ik vond ze allemaal gaaf! Alhoewel, ze waren in Leeuwarden wel wat minder dan in Utrecht...

Gorgeous song, thank you! Graham is a songwriting ledgend. Iain (Hornal) said he has had a sore throat so was singing lower here, it's still lovely. Seen HFOS tour with Ciaran Jeremiah (the Feeling) and Dave Cobby a few times in 2017: wonderful stuff.

insightflow Hey, but that's edited audio, properly mixed. My video is made with just my smartphone... I think it's not true everything sounded better in "the old days". It's the science that the first live performance you hear from a band or song is the one you prefer. Test it yourself by listening to a new band and look up the live performance. Most of the time you like that first one most.
