You Should Play Hogwarts Legacy in 2024
I replayed through Hogwarts Legacy very recently. Without doubt one of the games that I enjoyed most from 2023 and although a year is next to nothing in terms of game years - it still hasn't lost it's spark in 2024.
Learned alot making this video and lots more to come! Be sure to drop a like and subscribe! Hope you guys enjoy the video!

Valheim has Ruined Survival Games for me
Переглядів 479 тис.8 місяців тому
Valheim has truly made its mark on the Survival genre and it has done so without a big budget or a Triple AAA Studio behind it. I love Valheim, even all these years later, the more you play, the better it gets! I really hope you guys enjoy the video and thanks for watching! #valheim #irongatestudio #vikings @IronGate Instagram: masonellistv Twitter/X: MasonEllisShow

    The Meadows thru the plains was an incredible experience and the gold standard for survival crafting. The developers have unfortunately lost their way with the mistlands and ashlands updates so i have almost no confidence that the endgame and release will be worth it.

    The problem with vanilla valheim is that it doesn't have too much content, and it's just stretching the gameplay by making drop ratios of metals, and other rare items to minimum. When I realised, that I have to farm for few hours, just to get a bronze set, that have little to none special features (unlike in terraria), I was't happy xd Valheim just don't have the same payoffs as the other games that you just mentioned. You farm long hours, just to get some crap.

    “respects the players time” Ark is faster than this game, ARK is the prime example of wasting the players time, if Valheim is respecting your time, than ARK is not the most annoying time wasting disrespectful game out there *coughs in Snail ruining the game even more* So uhhhh… why do you think Valheim respects time? It’s a very slow game. A very very very slow game. I don’t hate the game, I can’t, it is great, buuuut! I hate “respects the players time” because that’s blatantly false.

    been thinking of going back to Valheim haven't play the Ashlands update yet, one thing i miss its the food system in valheim, been playing many other survival games and all of those food systems they got really suck compared to valheim, dunno what is it but in Valheim it feels good to look for ingredients and craft your things etc, and you are not even forced to do it, you just do it because it feels worth it.

    I'd like to say that literally my only complaint about the game is how long it takes and how much you have to do before you can start building with stone. Everything else is survival game perfection. Where Subnautica universally raised the bar for narrative survival games, Valheim similarly raised it for sandbox survival games.

    Valheim is amazing but once I advanced far enough the previous biomes felt empty and meaningless. I know its not a complete game, and I can see lots of potential for keeping existing biomes fresh. I warn any new players, dont rush this game!

    Easily the game I got more hours on without the feeling I've played too much. Chillest game there is. Every new thing added to it is huge. The construction is God Tier as it is. Modders must have a field day if they can play with more blocks. One other game released this year can come close to it. Enshrouded. It has imo a better terraforming/construction mechanics, but lacks blocks.

    Survival/crafting fan here.. It's the immersion and detail to some things that set this game apart. If the graphics were better, this game would be GOTY for the next 5 years. *Respecting the players time is the #1 thing this game did right* , and you can tell that with the food system. The food system in 7D2D caused me to quit, it's broken and frankly disrespectful. My biggest gripe with Valheim has to do with building - coming from 7D2D, the building is WAYYY better - WAYYYYYYY more items, blocks & *BETTER FITMENT* when placed the FIRST time. Lets not forget the plethora of bugs in valheim - yet, it's still a top notch game, pinnacle of the genre.

    Most early games from promising developers, like BGS, had very few devs working on the game, their minds are locked, they have a fairly single vision. Once success and money become involved, you get an expansion of devs, meaning an expansion of potential faults, differing opinions, changes to the original, simple formula, the desire to sell more copies because of the expansion of studios creates less of a niche, immersive feel, and more people pleasing on a mass less focused scale then its earliest iterations of a few devs just making a game, same happens with musicians, generally anytime the expansion requires larger sums of money in return.

    Valheim was so good in the beginning, but after 200 hours of play everything is way over tedious and time consuming and It just fell off quickly. I made it to the most lands and I was was so mad. You can't even see anything and I fell to my death. The studio who made this doesn't understand "hard" doesn't equal fun, it equals annoying. They also thrive on fictitiously lengthening the game with spreading bosses, points of interest and things you need out and driving a boat for 35 minutes to an objective just sucks. The fact that you can't get metal through the teleport is dumb and time consuming and not worth my time.

    my ONLY two issues with the game are the death-skill penalty being a little unfair and the excruciatingly slow self-sabotaging speed of updates. im all for the quality over quantity but its still not usually big enough to justify an iodate every 12+ months… those gaps actually ruin the player count

    I agree with everything said here except for one aspect. The game does not, at all, respect your time. The game requires way more grinding than it should. If you intend to play the game and you don't wanna spend an insanely long period of time to progress, I'd recommend increasing resource drop rates. Maybe put it on 2 or 3 times (I'd recommend 2 times). As of the time of writing, you can do this in vanilla, and it made my first playthrough with my friends very, very fun.

    • @drungathesexy1497
      @drungathesexy1497 Місяць тому

      Yeah, I agree. On my current playthrough, I haven't increased drop rates, but I have allowed metal through portals. If there is basically no danger between me here on one side of the ocean, and the chances of encountering a sea serpent is already low, all I'm ultimately just losing is time.

    • @Subt0nix
      @Subt0nix 26 днів тому

      The game literally has a resource drop rate value you can increase or decrease and 3x is almost overkill entirely with basically no grinding at all. I do agree that the grinding for large scale builds can be cumbersome but that's the same in other games such as minecraft. My main issue with the game is stamina system while building, a hammer / hoe / cultivator using stamina is annoying as shit but thats what mods are for.

    • @saysikerightnow3914
      @saysikerightnow3914 26 днів тому

      @@Subt0nix The game, even at x3, still has a fair amount of grinding. I'd know because I recently just finished got a four person multiplayer save to the Ashlands on x3 and it still took about 60 hours. A full first playthrough of Hollow Knight is 45 hours and it arguably has more content to get through. A full Minecraft playthrough by a novice usually takes 45 hours. I literally mentioned the drop rate modifier. I said that I use it at x2. You can't honestly believe that Valheim respects a player's time unless you believe respecting player's time means not putting time limits on things, which I heavily disagree.

    • @generalmcguffin593
      @generalmcguffin593 26 днів тому

      At every turn valheim gives you a way to speed up the next big resource. In the Forrest its carts, in the swamp its the iron boat, in the mountains its the wolf cape (and a combination of the previous two), in the plains all the resources regenerate, giving you time to remodel your base and give care to other parts of the game than straight grind. In the mistlands you explore and find more dwarf camps to make more eiter pumps. In the Ashland's its the stone portal. Of course if you ignore every aspect of the game aside from progression (like you may if you want to see the new Ashland's content) it becomes a bit of a problem, but at that point, commands are so accessible for a reason I suppose. Over all though I suppose I shouldn't be getting this upset over a perfectly reasonable opinion that the game can take a little longer than you enjoy. Like I said the console commands are accessible for a reason

    • @saysikerightnow3914
      @saysikerightnow3914 25 днів тому

      @@generalmcguffin593 I agree with you, the stamina system is annoying when building and the hammer and hoe probably should have a significantly smaller or no stamina use, but that doesn't affect as much of the game as the progression system. It affects me even less since I mostly play multiplayer, and my friend usually wants to build (and he's very good at it). Just because it gives you a way to speed it up doesn't mean it's acceptable. In most cases, the item used to speed it up feels more like a neccessity than a helpful addition. A survival game shouldn't take 150 hours to complete, especially when it has a relatively similar amount of content in comparison to other games I could play. Of all the people I know who play Valheim (which is about eight people), every one of them say the worst part of the game is the grinding. I personally think that grinding in games is almost always bad when that grinding requires many hours to complete. I just don't want to cheat in or devote massive amounts of time to a game to enjoy the game. That's antethetical to the point of a game. It's not like I think Valheim is a bad game. I was just rubbed the wrong way by the video's "the game respects your time" section, because I've only ever felt the opposite, and I've felt it consitently.

  • @Love_of_Christ30

    Great video. Extremely relatable. I honestly don't think I could ever go back to Palworld or Ark after experiencing this game with my brother. It's one of those games that isn't just a game; it's an experience. It's special, and unique. The combat is super fun, I love thinking of ways to wipe out massive swarms of graydwarves backed up by 2 trolls, then finding skeletons for them to fight. It's truly a very rewarding game and I absolutely love it. 10/10
