Geno's is #1 for me. The steaks are a bit thicker and kept whole for a true steak chew that you don't get with a more chopped steak. And if you don't slice your ribeye fresh daily then you're not even in the conversation.

I went to Philly and ate at Genos, then 15 minutes later had one at Pat's, then about 5 hours later had one at Jim's (tuna mind u at Jims and it was great)

I grew up in South Philly and Geno's and Pat's are good but not the best. I prefer Phillip's, they cook the steak fresh for your order, and it's not coming off a pile of precooked steak.

Stop. Genos is not a bucket list stop for cheesesteaks. Anybody from Philly will tell you that Pats and Genos are the McDonald’s and Burger King of cheesesteaks. But if you feel like McDonald’s and Burger King make the best burgers, to each their own. But your taste is straight garbage.

Pat's & Geno's are both subpar tomain temples! These places are so called tourist traps because nobody raised in Phila would ever go there. There are dozens of much better places all over the city, & surrounding 'burbs!

I have eaten there 8x and its absolutely WONDERFUL, especially the chilli-coconut version on a cool Melbourne morning. The flavorful blue-cheese is very nice too. By noon on Saturday & Sunday, a long queue would have formed. The owner tells me he is looking to expand his business (April 2024). Presently, there are comfy seats, benches & tables to sit at. Prices: from around A$13 to 18. A must try at Queen Victoria Market!!
