I do own an inflatable outboard jet but in 1993 I eel fished the Waiatoto as far as Axius Flat using a 4.2m Zodiac with a 15hp outboard which I could run easily up to "the end of the road" as the Waiatoto is such a big river. It doesn't require an outboard jet. I believe the rapid at the finish has been run by a jet boat during high water flow.

Be careful the maoris will vandalise your vehicle.

A limit of 4 in a day.....the first marlin was just over 200kg which isn't far off the ll tackle record of 224kg....imagine how big the kingfish would have been back then. Amazing that they used Tanekaha rods and they held up under the strain.

We kept two ( split out to 4 families ) which was all we kept for the whole of the 2012 season and the rest were Tagged and released to fight another day. We use circle kooks on the Livebaits and J hooks in the lures.

Looks like you killed all the fish? Using J hooks not circle hooks.
