The best known of all American tanks, the Sherman M4A2 was designed in 1941 as an improvement on the earlier Lee and Grant medium tanks. The Sherman embodied the results of careful study of tank warfare in the first years of World War II. www.airfix.com/uk-en/shop/vehicles/military-vehicles/sherman-m4a2-tank-1-76.html

Revell does a better one in 1:72 with a heavy ton of detail than this little old kit. This kit didnt came with decal but the one in the red box does have decals but for only one version. The Sd.Kfz. 7 was a half-track military vehicle used by the German Wehrmacht Heer, Luftwaffe and Waffen-SS during the Second World War. The crew was increased to three by the addition of a gunner, relieving the commander of that task. In 1938, the MG 13 was replaced by a Maschinengewehr 34, in 1942 the KwK 30 was replaced by the faster firing KwK 38 of the same calibre. Production ran from 1937 to late 1943, with at least 9...

Airfix made at least 4 fascinating mistakes on this kits! 1st: it's not a 234, it's a ficticious Sd.Kfz. 231 or 233 Pakwagen conversion, which never existed like this, unless it was a one-off, unauthorized workshop conversion cobbled together somewhere in Africa. 2nd: the official Sd.Kfz. 234/4 8-Rad Pakwagen conversion was conceived of and produced in 1944. The Airfix box art portrays an Afrikakorps Pakwagen, but the Afrikakorps already surrendered in 1943. 3rd: To accomodate the 7.5 cm Pak 40 in the fighting compartment of an 8-Rad armoured car, the reverse driving position had to be eliminated, but Airfix will have you mount the rear stearing wheel anyway. 4th: The Afrikakorps received twelve Sd.Kfz. 233 Kanonen-Wagen (armed with the short 7.5 cm L/24 assault gun) in November of 1942, which would have been factory-painted in RAL 8000 Yellow Brown, possibly with a 7008 Grey Green disruptive pattern, but the Airfix box art shows the vehicle with the three-colour camouflage pattern of RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb with RAL 6003 Olivgrün and RAL 8017 Red Brown disruptors that was introduced only in February 1943. The Airfix kit can be saved by kit-bashing, using the fenders of a Matchox 234 Puma armoured car: www.miniatures.de/airfix-01311-pakwagen-234-4.html
Interesting facts, thank you!
Wish I had read this comment before I bought the kit!! lol
@@seorwulf1049 It‘s still a good kit of an interesting vehicle, despite the errors. The Wehrmacht did cobble together all kinds of one-off fighting vehicles, and it‘s entirely feasible to consider this thing a local workshop variant.
Looks really nice!!
Worst 1/72 AFV l,ve ever attempted to build ( l gave up and binned it ). The tiny individual tank tracks were so fragile they snapped when being removed from the sprue and the parts (especially the running gear ) were poorly fitting . Could have been a better kit with rubber band tracks and more thought given to the construction . The two crew figures were poor also . Italeri really let themselves down with this kit so a waste of money and one to avoid in my opinion .
OMG i have to agree, tracks are terrible and the figures too. I also bulit the wespe wich is also bad, same kind of figures and even details are missing like the exhaust. The king tiger is also terrible kit. I think maybe building it again with that experience would come out decent, but i wouldnt buy it again. Only if it is a gift or a terrible discount.
You made very excellent work there. You should be very proud of yourself. I understand you at all. I also go to college. I finished one degree as well. I have to finish just one other degree on college as well. I also have assembled the similar mosquito from Airfix in that same scale. Mine was also from the 70's. I have only used a different decals as well. I made it to be a Mosquito MK VI to be a Yugoslav air force as well. If you are interested, you can see the decals of the mentioned air force on some of my update videos as well.
Holly.... a 2nd degree, niice!!! And thank you very much!
@@josefalfarokreiner4549 Yes indeed. I hope to finish that 2nd degree (the master degree). I have few exams left to finish. You're welcome.
thx i dient know how to Do barrel
You did a good job on her mate but if you can find a 1:570 scale of Bismarck from Revell its an old kit its much more accurate the Airfix one is no where near accurate.
thank you. I agree with you this kit way inaccurate and also pieces dont fit properly etc, But that was the tech back then when they first issued this :/.
A tough little kit with tiny track shoes and minute parts, yet worth persevering over, builds into a fine subject. This little tank destroyer packed a punch, and must have been easy to conceal when in ambush. Surely a great weapon for the German infantry to call on, and capable as usual of being an assault gun or even light armour, if present in sufficient numbers
oh yes, it was really tough; i wouldnt recomend it. Yes ive read about it it was a really sneaky one and deadly for the light armoured m4s.
sorry i didnt understand
to me the last 109 is a F type or a early G2...
i found out, it is actually an F made by lindberg
@@josefalfarokreiner4549 Bingo!😁
This was one of the first model kits where I started to get good and always planed to come back to it as a act of nostalgia. However when this kit is retailing at about £25 I think Airfix are somewhat taking the piss. It cost me £9 in 1996. For a model kit that was produced in the early 1970s I think it's very disrespectful that Airfix has the balls to demand these sort of prices
i agree!! happened to me with bf 109(a01008) in 2012 it did cost me around 7$USD and today the same mold costs around 13$USD. Dogfight doubels too, from 30$USD to 50$USD. Seriously it lets me down actually.
I first built this kit in the late 60s,it came in a plastic bag and it cost me 7 shillings and sixpence and what's I still have it, great video thankyou
Woow niice!! You are welcome and thank you!! Greetings!! Btw i really enjoyed building this kit and i was really exited about it when i first bought it
the mk18 of tse tse carried a 6 pound anti tank gun 2.244 in (57 mm) of refered to as the mollins gun . And was primary used in the anti submarine role

Just a tip if you build any more mosquitos: Check pictures of real tail wheels, the tyres really were split like in the kit, you don't need to fill in the groove!
Ahh really?!?! Fk, my bad thanks for the tip!!
Nice kit, nice work
Great! I'm subscribed
thank u m8!
It looks like a 109 but it has some strange shapes, looks like a mix of versions as far as I can see. It doesn't have a nose or flaps like the 'Emil', I think it looks the most as an 'F', but it also has a curved panel-shape-line between the air-intake and canopy which reminds a bit of an G-10, but then the tail has that upper triangular-shape from more early versions. Also those 7 exhaust pipes and the vertical-back for the canopy look a bit weird for a 109. Have fun building it, cheers
Haha I thought likewise like wtf haha . I also agree its an F, due to following: - wheel wells are round (characteristic for F). - cant be and E as the turbocharger air intake is not squared. And also the different poropeller "cone" - can t be any G because the g versions lost the small window triangle at the corners after the engine cover. And also cant be late Gs due to that triangle you mentioned on the ruder. Btw thank you!! Have a nice day :p
i think that is an heinkel 112 , not a 1O9! maybe by ESCI ? the johan kit is a very old kit, i build this one in 1974 .............!!! my first bf 109 ! !!!
Ohh, im sure its a 109 it has all the caracteristics for it; i dint thought about esci, thanks ill look it up. Btw wow that is amazing, thanks for sharing!!
Update: im googling Esci bf 109 or derivatives of it and i cant find anything :(
Btw in what version did you build it?
@@josefalfarokreiner4549 hello, as regards the strange 1O9, I had, a very long time ago the opportunity to make this kit, which is not terrible, it is a mix of 1O9 and HE112, by the way the box art of this kit was a 112 seen from below, sold as a 109, as far as i can remember it was an ESCI reboxing, from whom? i dont know ! when at the johan kit, the decoration was erich hartmann with the red tulip, black border, beautiful decals at the time of the 70s.
@@jyvesguillemot okey, okey thank you very much!! I wish i could have bought the johan with decals :/ its a nice mold, even a bit better than the actual airfix g-6.
Nice video
OK so whats wrong with this kit? (Not your work, but Airfix's). Bow and stern too wide. Main turret positions wrong, especially the aft one which makes the aft deck look very short. Hull too high by about 5mm. Armour belt doesn't extend far enough fwd and aft. And of course lots of detail missing. About the only way to rescue the Airfix Bismarck is to build a completely new deck with the hull shape and turret positions corrected, and trim the hull height by about 3.5 mm all round, which is about the most you can do on this model without lowering the deck too close to the top of the armour belt. Unless these steps are taken, this model is atrociously inaccurate and doesn't reflect the elegance of the real ship at all.
hahaha, i agree its a terrible ki, holy fk thats lots of works, i guess thats part of the hobby :P. Btw thanks for watching
if you know about modeling this is a starter kit! (FOR KIDS) with no details . the much larger kits for eg 1:350 scale had more intamte detailing like hand rails flag poles, chains for the anchor ect take alook
@@mouseman6666 omg, i know detial at those scale are amazing, but they aee also huge!! Like the 1/72 uss gato class submarine, over 1 meter long!! And also more expensive. 😁
@@josefalfarokreiner4549 ya true but if you pay the price you get the quality that comes with it but im always so on edge to who i should buy a kit from as they are all so different in details like no offense the kit in the video looks real crap , and you could buy the same from someone else and the kit would be amazing !
@@mouseman6666 That is completely true man, however i feel like im going to make a trash out of a really good kit, thats why i dont like to buy better quallity ones i always have this kind of remorse. :/
NIco Soldan124 yes they go on the other side as well
That is a rebox of the Frog kit. I around 50 years old.
Cool video
Nice airplane sound effects :-)
dont know if its still relevant to you but these kits are very old. could be that they've been in storage somewhere for years, so the decals become brittle. often a problem with old kits
Mm most surely you are right however it was only present on the SE.5a and sopwith triplane. Maybe if i had used a decal solution they would have settled properly. :)
👍👍👍
Awesome!New Subscriber! Please take a look at my Channel, Thank you 🙏
Thanks for showing the whole instructions on this video, i bought a set without one.

Are u German?....but still good work 👍👌
No he is mexican
how big is it? edit [nvm i found out]
Nice work on the winter camouflage. It looks convincing.
🤮
How did you do the tracks?
It's a painful process, i've done this kind of tracks by assembling the the wheel, test fiting the tracks(just the single links) and then glueing them; but just the amount the instructions say.
josef alfaro kreiner do you mean glueing them on the wheel?
@@martin3288 yeah, that comes after test fitting
Lol what noob
What do I need to build this like is it glue I’m new to this so idk
So ehm.... yeah glue is a good start,( try a modelling one because it dries a bit slower than super glue and it allows you to correct the position of the pieces before drying) , then you wilm need some paints usally acrylic hobby paints, the ones with water base are easier to handle( u kno clean the brush etc). And patience most of all. Also have fun and enjoy.
josef alfaro kreiner thx
josef alfaro kreiner god I tried to build the first wheel the modeling glue went everywhere I went to wash it off and the wheel almost fell down the drain xD
That's A Very Old Kit..., The Tooling/Molding Is From 1964..., I Got Mine For 6,-€ And Will Ad Some Detail To It.
Ohh i agreee airfix and its old tools are horrible. Nice to hear that!! Have fun!
I have subscribed you
Just started this kit as a ‘challenge’. Wow that’s some awful moulds. Lots of scratch-building to do.
OMFG yess!! They are horrible. Have patience!!! But also have fun !
I note the box art. Panthers never fought in North Africa. A few early Tiger 1 made it there. But no panthers
Yeah, like wtf airfix jaja xdxd
Did it needed any filling?
I didnt use any; so far i see on the model on the joint between de fuselage and the wings doesnt need any but there were both wing parts go i would use some. Have fun and enjoy!
Nice model!
