Meus anos 60...quantas saudades...dos amigos e irmãos alguns já foram 😢😢
Where did you get this record?
Probably at a local boot sale
0:52 Why does she say, "No, no, Sparky."? Is it because he missed some notes?
A favorite of my mother and grandmother, and mine now too. We certainly don't have entertainers like this anymore, sadly!
Now I get why the flip side says "and her other piano"
I have this record that came in a Columbia Viva-Tonal No. 201 Portable Gramophone. Unfortunately mine is not in good shape since it’s chipped and scratched. But thanks for the clean recording.
The Man 🎙️🎹🥃🍸🎉🗽🇺🇸💫
Excellent. Listened today. India. Dec 15, 2024
Heard on the Whittaker Brothers Puff the Magic Dragon Kiddie Ride
Oh my goodness it's you! Good to hear from you again.
Better than the other fella..... Lucky America..... Now they have our Indian's 🆘 Before his time our CHARLIE 💪😁🤫🆘🇬🇧
era considerato i pianista più veloce del mondo ! Ma il suo ritmo rimaneva era insuperabile.......
Mr Jack Bruce going to it..handling bass tones!!!! Thank you very much fir sharing
Wow!
I’ll go first. Don’t know this, surprise me!
foot fetishist anthem
I was around when this first came out. Great arrangement. There is no better tener Sax stepping like this one❤
Is there any footage of Earl Bostic playing ? Haven't been able to find any so far on UA-cam. Would be such a shame if no film of him survives. Love his playing, one of the greatest ever alto sax players in my view along with Johnny Hodges and Paul Desmond. This mambo tune seems to use the chord sequence of "Indiana", which was Charlie Parker also used in "Donna Lee".
We had this recording when I was a young child. 78s were so fragile.
Que buen sonido! Me encanta!
My 93 year old mother sang this song to me the other day. Although I'm almost 60 years old, I'll always be her little boy. Love you forever and a day mom.
Awesome memory
I really love this record on embassy records 78rpm, I've got .it's gota dance beat to it, tell me people what you think of the record tea for two.
Flipside of the great "Jenny Jenny"!
Rumour is that hearing this version of My Generation is what caused Pete Townshend to smash his guitar for the first time.
huh
My father had this same recordings in a 45 rpm record. i really liked since I was a little boy. Thanks for uploading, brings nice memories!
Adorable! I love the label too! Thanks so much!
Remember playing this over 50years ago, never knew what happened to that record. Lovely to hear it again brings back memories. 😊
Brilliant!
Gabriele
Fake Tenor Exposed just kidding
Flip side of Knights in White Satin
THEIR RELEASES HAVE A VERY HIGH DEGREE OF PROFESSIONALISM. AND THESE WERE LANDMARKS. WITHOUT THEM VOCAL GROUP R & B SIMPLY WOULDNT HAVE HAPPENED.
I like his more traditional '59 version from his album
Reminds me a little of the “Route 1” theme from Pokémon Red and Blue
Garrick Ohlssen, the only pianist from the United States to ever win first prize in the International Chopin Piano Competition, used to listen to this record when he was a child.
You saw Ben's podcast too :)
@ yep, he brought me here lol! I missed out on this album as a kid but would’ve loved it.
Which podcast is this please? I'd like to hear it, thanks
This theme song of a story telling program in Commerical Radio H K broadcasted almost 70 years ago.
Sounds like Mario
Wish singers like this were more remembered today. They deserve it.
im looking for his show on lbc it was on a website cant find it
I recently went to a Marty Wilde show in Andover England, and Marty said he once went to a skiffle show back in the 50s and it was Lonnie Donegan on the banjo and Marty said he wasn’t much a fan of skiffle but Lonnie took all of his attention. Marty said he was fascinated by Lonnie and paid tribute to him at his show by singing Rock Island line.
Exactly what I heard in 1952 on Milton Cross’ opera highlights program, and consider it the definitive recording.
Thank you!
Mitchell Torok this brings back memories of dancing with my Dad
This is Jack Plant on vocals
Can someone explain to me how these comments relate to Winifred Atwell’s Golden Tango? I feel like I’m missing context……
They're referencing a different music project called vCJD, which used this song and modified it to represent a person's emotional state while having said disease. It's given a different name in that album.
@ thank you so much!!!
TEMAZO!!!
