I feel bad for the performers for wasting time of playing such garbage music. The Second Viennese School is just pure garbage.
I feel good that you feel bad. And waste your time in write about garbage.

UM RETRATO FANTÁSTICO DO UNIVERSO MUSICAL CONTEMPORÂNEO. LINDA OBRA DE SAARIAHO!!!!
fantastico!
The defining characteristic isn't the atonality it't the precision.
An acquaintance of mine is a rather unsuccessful composer. He criticizes Saariaho every time and doesn't actually find her particularly creative, but a little too oriented towards the tastes of the public. My response to this the other day was: “But she's successful and you're not. Your music is coarse, without emotion and an annoying academic argument with yourself. Who cares about that? Now he hates me. And I still like Saariaho.
I looked at the sheet music for this at the library today and it is insane. Cage was a genius.
Fantastic, but I do think you should credit the performers.
Excelent performance.
Fabuloso!!!👏👏👏

Not melodious tuneful music
¡mas like this por favor! what a gem, a song of fz's deeper sensibilities and what a great performance! thank-you
I can't comprehend what this is
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is awesome
I was at the world premiere of this and was bowled over by it. Sadly cancer claimed Takemitsu too early.

26:52 is outstanding
Boulez gives a phenomenal performance here and was partly 'invested' in its creation. When he was chief conductor of the BBC S O in the 1970s he was told by a fellow conductor (probably Howarth) that Birtwistle wanted to encapsulate fragments of Sappho's poetry into something resembling a Greek drama. The problem was that it would not be an acted drama because the instrumental sounds would be the actors and the singers would have the traditional Chorus role of what we know about how the great dramas of Attic times were presented. They were often very long, with variations on scenes from the linear narrative so audiences would think about other outcomes. Actually, Shakespeare left us guessing in several of his later plays. However, economy of resources was also Birtwistle's aim, especially as he wanted, characteristically, to have several strands of drama unfolding at the same time but did not want the solution of several small choruses which many composers had tried from Ockeghem to the present day. He called this the "Tallis trap", referring to the 'Spem in alium' 40 part motet which can be messy. Boulez and John Alldis of choral fame suggested checking tuning while singing sections and Birtwistle had long admired this simple practice used by Nordic choral groups and, indeed, Benjamin Britten when he spent some time in Denmark a generation earlier. This freed the composer to quantify resources and get to work. Even a genius like Harrison Birtwistle occasionally needs the support of trust from fellow musicians.
At 18:54 the male vocalists are rubbing their left hands with their right hands. The score clearly calls for them to be rubbing their right hands with their left! At 21:41 the Soprano is supposed to go "Click click clook click" NOT " Click Clook click click" Not only that, the other soprano is supposed to wear BLACK fingernail polish when patting her cheek, NOT red! AND both Sopranos are supposed to vocalize 27 cm from the piano strings. They are clearly further back than that! How did such a LAZY CARELESS performance of such a masterpiece get kept on a recording? >80)
Oh yes
Can someone around here write music instead of noise?
Wolfgang Rihm (1952-2024).
Carter’s Symphonia is the greatest work by an American composer.
The late and great Luc Brewaeys! This man taught me how to turn my ideas into music even though he didn’t like it at all!

kaija was one divine visitor to this world
Listening to it after hearing it being mentioned by Alan Watts in one of his lectures. PS: Anybody from the current generation here? Fun fact, this concert inspired Disc 13 in Minecraft. Anyone? No? Ok. 🎹🎺🥁🎸🎼
A masterpiece of crap
Now I know I can compose music too
Tengo la curiosidad de escucharla.
This is shit
A work of unimaginable genius: not even Beethoven could have reached such heights
Possibly the most boring and stupid work ever
Is this music?
(Mantra), 1970>
Hey I do not see a reason for all the bells and whistles, could this have been a solo piano piece with the ring modulator operated MUCH more dynamically? Would anyone care to discuss?
Straordinario
Sorry very direct question, which might be impossible for you. But could you upload this to apple music?
thank you!
Wonderful
What a beautiful piece of music
Lachenmann: you have a sick deranged mind
How come Kaija didn't killed it as OST composer? Did she focused on classic?
What a beautiful, sensitive performance of this pointillistic music!
If demons existed this would be how to summon them all at once.
I just love Donatoni!
