    This is true for everything in life. Javed Akhtar recently said something along these lines: "Most people can do most things, it's just that when you're doing something new, you're going to suck at the beginning, and when you look at your work and see that it's bad, you get discouraged. Most people quit in these early stages after this discouragement and never achieve greatness - greatness comes to those who persevere despite sucking at start."

    One thing you've missed in your video: commitment. It takes dedication to bring an idea to life through game development. I can't even begin to tell you how many projects I've been a part of that ended up scrapped because of a lack of motivation and commitment😭

    Hello, it's nice to meet another pixel artist! I'm new to your channel and I just subscribed! I'm sorry your college experience wasn't all that great. But I can relate to the struggles that you dealt with on campus. For me, I went to a four-year college in Massachusetts to study game design. It was a decent program, however it definitely had its flaws. I especially hated being forced to take computer science in my first year when I didn't know anything about it. But the only good takeaway from college was teaching myself how to create pixel art. So, it wasn't all bad. But I certainly won't recommend college to anybody else. Also, congratulations on publishing your first game!👏

It was 'nice' but not the, "If you don't go to college you won't get anywhere. You need a degree. Go get one." type of thing. Only necessary in certain circumstances like wanting to join AAA Studios. It's unfortunate you had to take classes without the proper requisites! I had the opposite problem XD Too many requisites that it took me 2 years of previous courses to get to making games. It's nice to hear that's how you stumbled into pixelart though! At least something good came out of it! And thank you! The odd highlight at 8:33 is usually called a reflected light! You see them a lot when artists make still life drawings, and its created by the light bouncing off the table that the still life is sitting on. You can see it yourself if you set a ball on a white tablecloth and turn on a lamp! The shadow will be darkest on the bottom because the bottom is being hit the least by the light bouncing around the scene, and somewhere opposite to the lamp you'll see a faint highlight in middle of the shadow! Everything in that texture pack is shaded with that style, and you can see a little reflected light on the wheat too!

    • @erisesra
      @erisesra 8 днів тому

      I can try! I do plan to make a "Start here" Video for pixelart, but in the meantime: ⭐These videos has some good resources for learning pixelart: ua-cam.com/video/8cv2kj5AyAs/v-deo.htmlsi=ssAsahwy5RGZWSk_ While it is sprite focused, I think the resources are still super valuable ⭐ Next up, I made this playlist for videos I found helpful for learning pixelart! You can look at the creators of these videos for more insight: ua-cam.com/play/PLGWgGZJaoGOtnPkDGOI8bBN4vWn70vKQ5.html&si=7SbH85UCGNOSGIZa Next, for general advice: ⭐ Find artists of the style you want to emulate and try to dissect them! Take note of the colors they use, shapes, scale, and outlines! For an example of how to do this, I do a section on my study streams called, "Pixelart of the Day" ua-cam.com/users/live7R2qgPcrsnU?si=5fTFPVbs7f_C4jtF&t=555 ⭐ Watch a lot of time lapses! I've found them to be helpful in understanding the artist's thought process and what led up to the creation! It also helps in finding out the drawing process of a piece of art you like! ⭐ There's this website called "The Sprite Resource" I mention it in my resource video! It holds the sprites of a lot of pixelart games! Like with the previous tips, you can study these sprites! The best part is you can directly download them into the pixelart program of your choice! This way to can mess around and dissect them! And finally, I think the largest thing I've learned from starting my journey of pixelart is doing a lot of iterations! Even if the sprite I'm working on is 16x16, I make the canvas size 256x256 so I can copy and paste the sprite I'm working on a bunch of times to compare and contrast! I explain it a little better here! You can see how I have different variations of the computer! ua-cam.com/users/liverfyqAOtBHQg?si=E-ArkKTP5fnEQEw1&t=5323 I hope you find this helpful! If you have any other questions, or need clarification, feel free to ask! ⭐

    Easy to learn and tough to master i agree.. I just started learning as I'm medically retired and need a hobby and 16 x 16 is starting to get pretty easy to make anything in just a few days .. its not great art but it's ledgeble lol

      Thank you for sharing your journey! ⭐ It’s inspiring to see how you’re embracing a new hobby. I say as long as it's legible, it's good enough XD Thankfully with pixelart, it's a lot more forgiving! I'm wishing you all the best as you continue to learn and create!
