Sketching a Charming Café in Beilstein, Germany | Watercolor & Ink Process
In this video, I take you through the process of sketching a charming café in Beilstein, Germany. Using Paul Rubens’ watercolor sketchbook, Shin Han Watercolors, and Uni pens (0.05, 0.1, 0.5), I focus on capturing the delightful details of this beautiful café.
Watch as I first draw the details in the foreground and patiently work on the long, steep stairway. After completing the ink sketch, I add watercolor to bring the scene to life. Please note that due to the lighting in my room, the colors might appear more vibrant than intended. I’m experimenting with different lighting setups and editing techniques to improve color accuracy in future videos. If you have any tips or suggestions for improving color representation, I’d love to hear them in the comments!

Love the drawings. Any tip on learning how to put shadows on the proper places for a beginner drawer? Trying to visualize where the shadows would be in my head and putting it on canvas seems to be something I struggle with.
I recommend choosing a reference photo with sharp, clear shadows. A good example is a photo taken around 11:00 AM, where the shadows are well-defined and typically consist of just three main tones. This makes it easier to see and draw the shades accurately, helping you understand how light and shadow work together. Thanks for your interest🫶🏻✨
