Wow
I lived in Rockingham County for a long time so I watched this very carefully to see where you were. I almost got motion sickness 😂. As near as I could guess you were around Dayton and Mount Crawford. Very cool footage.
@phlamingophlox8492 yup northern Dayton. I've always hated that people don't really document storms around here so figured we would start this page to start doing so. Thank you so much
Awesome share, hello from Newport News Va
Thank you so much, look forward to chasing in that area next year! You guys have really gotten hit a lot this year
@@stormchasingandresearchsociety take care
Nice video!! 👍👍
Thank you so much!
Nice work documenting. Is flooding becoming more common in that area?
When it comes down, yes. Reason being, the beautiful Shenandoah valley is becoming more prone to climate extremes, like droughts, and when this happens the ground becomes rock hard - making heavy rainfall have no time to soak in - and running off the ground like concrete. We are in an extreme drought right now, and just had a tropical system move through leading to very similar conditions.
@@stormchasingandresearchsociety thanks for the reply. I'm in SE FL and researching possible places to relocate. Ironic that many places up the east coast are becoming as vulnerable as FL to a certain extent.
@@ronansuperpup ofcourse - thank YOU for the engagement. Places all over are experiencing worse weather. I would highly recommend our area, the Shenandoah Valley in VA or even eastern WV has relatively cheap property (compared to other places) and incredible things to enjoy - the mountains are unmatched. But sadly, we have been experiencing more droughts and even a few more tornadoes than usual as of late.
@@stormchasingandresearchsociety definitely haven't ruled it out. I got to go camping in Front Royal when I was a kid and was very impressed by the beauty. Looking at Harrisonburg atm. No immanent plans, but learning and watching for now. I appreciate your input.
@@ronansuperpup We have a base in Harrisonburg and Timberville, love the area. Absolutely! If you have any questions feel free to ever ask

beautiful!
amazing!
The Shenandoah Valley takes the brunt of the storms before they crest the Eastern side of the mountains a lot in our area of Northern Virginia, but sometimes and lately they restrengthen come down off the mountain.
Having lived here for years, I gotta say its mainly Central and Eastern WV that takes the brunt before it moves into the valley. The SV has slowly been driving into annual droughts because of this, and then they cross the blue ridge and EXPLODE. But, to your second point, they have been blowing up off the spine of the Appalachian mtns more frequently these past few years. This is actually one of our biggest points of research, and figuring this out for the future - and how to prepare for it. Because our zoning and terrains are not made for annual droughts and then, sudden, damaging storms.
I'm really interested in that too. I know when they form on the East side of the mountains and move in from the south and go NE they can be quite damaging. In particular, Aldie and Brambleton take hail more so than the parts of where I live near the Potomac River. Definitely would be interested in learning more.
@@SapphireGladeComics Orographic lift is something I feel like will have more of an impact as higher temps effect these areas, and im set on figuring out which regions are influenced the most. We really appreciate the comments and are glad to see more people taking notice, as awareness leads to preparedness as stronger storms impact this beautiful area.
Most likely. Thoughts on the rare Tornado Outbreak from last Wednesday or Tuesday? That was one of the rarest storms I've seen in LoCo that accelerated in MoCo.
beautiful
I don't want music, I want thunder etc.
Fun fact 99% of the lightning in this video was too far away to get thunder.

good

Thank you so much!
this is like the uk , ive never known as much rain , and ive just turned 60.
A warmer climate will cause more moisture to be in the air. It also changes weather patterns - Along with natural occurring pattern changes, that can lead to more moisture to fall in areas that it used to not. As we've built slopped towns and towns or cities within water basins, we will see this more often.
nice!
