    Payload capacity is exceptionally important on trucks. I'm in the same boat. All the campers I'm looking at have a wet weight of around 4,500lbs. Add cargo, passengers, and a flat tow... well... an F450 just doesn't cut it. Needless to say, I'm shopping for an F550.

    Thank you for this. I spoke with a truck dealer and he argued with me that the numbers are not adding up. He said go to a bigger truck. I did not work with that dealer. Thank you for confirming! We need more videos like this to make sure we get the right truck for the right camper.

    Good vid man. I agree. Honestly the max “slide in camper” rating for the f350s are around 4,700. It’s far less than the max payload rating. F550 is the way to go.

      It really is if you just want to skip to not worrying about weight and know you are good to go. Not to mention all the storage with the cabinets is awesome compared to a regular pickup bed

  • @johnhenry3536
    @johnhenry3536 9 місяців тому

    Hmm. I still think it's a hassle. Whether flatbed or pickup bed, you still have to have the camper "perfectly aligned" for road transport. If not, then your tie-downs need adjustments, weight balance is off and the camper looks off too. So proper alignment is still required but still a bit easier with a flatbed since you can make adjustments while your bed is under the camper. I've also notice extreme battery draw from the camper jacks (or using the slides) when not connected to the truck or shore power. My next camper setup will solve this by simply leaving the camper on full-time (dedicated camping rig).

  • @johnhenry3536
    @johnhenry3536 9 місяців тому

    SOMEBODY needs to invent a fast camper jack. These things are actually junk imo. I've owned several campers and I hate these things. They're can be unreliable and very slow. I would guess that a huge market for a much higher quality, faster jack likely exists. Maybe they do already, but I've not seen one myself.

    I believe i have the correct equipment to catch them , its finding them is my problem. Does side scan help when going 20 mph, i only have DI. Or better yet if you dont where the fish are do you always mark fish or bait before you put lines out? I know fish are easier to see in summer on sonar because they are deep but what about the rest of the seasons. Should you always mark fish before putting lines out. (This is Freshwater Lakes I'm preferring too) Your videos are great Thanks

    • @millersmonstrosity3419
      @millersmonstrosity3419 9 місяців тому

      I very rarely use my sonar in locating them. However, I know people that wont put a line in the water until they see them on their graph. One thing I do know though is that you aren't going to catch a damn thing if you don't have lines in the water. I personally will put out a set, fish 30-45 minutes and move on to a new spot if nothing is happening. Knowing the yearly movement of the fish is the biggest thing.
