Shaking packaged bees, variations on a theme
Переглядів 3193 роки тому
Using four of the compromised packages here are four methods for shaking packages from these Chilean boxes. The mesh used to block the added holes in the top of the boxes mean traditional shake doesn't work quite as well as usual so we get inventive. The last (Method 4) is specifically for any package that may have had a difficult transport and helps boost them but it could be a good method for...

Heyo. This is from August 20, 2020. bees had been moved to fall yards to clear the farmers fields so we had a day of taking honey, making nucs and testing for mites. Along the way pulled out a bag of Api-pasta to see if the bees would like it at all. Not sure they did. But also not a comprehensive test. Visit www.bhfsales.net/ for more info!

      They’re AA rechargeable batteries. I usually go with Energizer but I’m curious if your machine isn’t recharging your batteries between uses? This machine is intended to recharge them regularly. Are you changing your batteries every two days?

    Hi Chris, good to put a face to your name. I recently got an Ezy loader 200 mh thru you. Missouri, USA. Very happy with it and the shipper fortunately didn't hurt anything when they tipped it over on it's side. LOL. I would like to see more on setting up the home and level on this as the instructions are a little bare. We're still working on setting yards for using it. So many of our yards are very unlevel. If one has the room and access in their yards the trailer would be what I would go with. Thanks again!

    How many hives on the trailer

    • @beematter
      @beematter 2 роки тому

      The trailer in the video has a payload capacity of 8444 pounds but the deck itself can hold up to 96 hives if loaded from the rear. We did not have that many hives to move so loaded from the side which leaves room for 72 hives and is under the weight cap even with pallets. The scale on the EZYLoader is very handy to keep track of how much weight you have on the trailer and keep it under max weight. We also have 16 foot trailers with 7000 pound axels which allows us to load 96 from the side and have the weight capacity to handle it. The new demo unit will be on one of these. Hope to get video of that one out too.

    So when you have a loss like this, 50%, do you get comped by the seller? Or do you just have to eat the loss? And do the bees typically experience stress from the travel?

    • @beematter
      @beematter 2 роки тому

      Bees always experience stress when travelling, even in hives but yes we do expect some compensation for losses. Sometimes it is full coverage and sometimes prorated to the losses experienced. If we can make one hive out of two packages, for example, we would request 50% coverage. It needs to be shown to be airline or producer issues though, not handling or hiving issues this side so some investigation is required.

      Hi. Hopefully this translates back well. I am not quite sure what info you want so without getting too specific; it is a self contained hydraulic pump/tank/valve set up controlled by the computer in the EzyLoader. The auto level, raise and lower functions and the winch system on the 300MH and smaller units using the hydraulic winch rather than electric are all powered by this pump.
