I’m building a 6m speaker wire dipole. Just a simple antenna for beginners to try and build. The legs are 51.5 inches long and solder to a so239 inside pvc. The PVC can be a 1in I used 1.5in in the video because that’s what I had. Stay tuned for the installing video.

I have build one of these antennas a few years ago before I got out of cb. But I have wanted to set my base up again so I’m building another one. This is the process of building the antenna and using my pulley system to attach it to my tower till I decide on a mast or tower. linktr.ee/midtnwx
TIDRADIO H3 vs Quansheng UVK5
Переглядів 8705 місяців тому
I like both of these radios. I do like the k5 because of the physical size of the radio and I get to tinker with firmware. The h3 is a good radio right out of the box. No tinkering with nothing just program and use. The Bluetooth programming makes that super easy. Let me know what you think of the h3 videos I have posted. You didn't show it with the Antenna's at the end like you said?
It was 2 wire dipoles with 10ft of vertical separation. My apologies I thought I put a picture at the end of the video.
But will it work on a TID H8?
As long as your radio has Bluetooth it should work. I don’t have any to try
What software programs are you using on your desktop? Looked like weather and radio specific software. Thanksss

When making this is it ok to have the radios so close as long as the antennas are far apart?
@@MrTaylorfenoglio yes both of my radios was inside the ammo csn.
Do you still like the duplexer? Or do you recommend another? @@All_Things_Radio
No Programming? No Antenna's?
The programming was talked about in the first 2 minutes of the video. I’m not going to discuss what frequencies I used. But I can tell you vox has to be on for this to work. The higher vox is set the louder the audio is. As far as antenna I used 2 wire dipoles cut to 2m snd 70cm. Spaced 10ft vertical separation.
Thank you for sharing this experiment. You encouraged me to build my own, I will go with the duplexer in my case.
@@BUTTEWORKS yes make sure to get a duplexer. I didn’t have the funds at the time when I built this. It would have a much better repeater. Good luck let me know how it turns out.
Excellent, Armaloc is quite expensive. And shipping to South Africa even more so. Will give this a try, 73
@@do7425 give it a try. Aluminum is very easy to mess with. The welding a little more involved. But cutting bending and drilling holes is easy than steel

@@All_Things_Radio oh ok I see
Яка прошивка стоїть у вас?
Interesting but do have 2 comments, if I may: with the center of ur Inverted Vee being sooooo close to the tower, it might not only negatively affect the SWR but could also distort/affect the omnidirectional radiation pattern u'd normally expect from an Inv Vee; (but hey, if it works "as is," that's great & good job!); however, if it doesn't, u might wanna' consider mounting a "stand off" bracket to ur tower, just to eliminate any possible capacitive coupling that might occur between the antenna & the tower; & secondly, I must admit, using some flexible pvc as the base of ur Vee in mid-air is a really creative idea & (as long as it remains stable) is sonething for anyone to consider! But since I sometimes get lazy (LOL), I'll usually just tie off each leg to either something on the ground that's permanent or even to cheap plastic tent stakes--just whatever it takes to keep the angles correct or as close as possible! 73 from TN😃🇺🇸
Being to close to the tower did affect the swr. You are correct. I have aluminum stand off I built out of 2in aluminum pipe that is 4ft long. Going to attach the pulley to the stand off and try it again. Thank you. The pvc was just something that crossed my mind. I had it laying around so I tried it. That worked good. I still tied off both ends of the pvc pipe to the tower just to hold it still in the wind.
Gracias, me ayudó mucho en la tarea de mi hija. Estudia Técnico medio en Telecomunicaciones,
de nada. Me alegro de que haya ayudado.
What was all that about?
Just showing the pulley system. Maybe somebody else is radio world like to tinker and build different antennas. And don’t want to dedicate a mast or tower to experiments. If you don’t have any productive criticism to say just move along.
Yeah, I was thinking of using a plasma table then bending and tig welding the folds.
Excellent idea. I don’t have access to tools like besides at my work. I did build a radio mount for my mobile radios at my job. Not perfect but it works excellent
FJ OM 73 FROM BRASIL!!!
I have to make my own since I'm using a GMRS radio. I like how simple you made your's. I'm thinking of using bed liner or powder coating it.
Yes I went simple with mine. After I seen the price of a armoloq cage. I knew I had to make one instead of buy. And I would at a aluminum foundry. So I found the aluminum c channel in the scrap bin at work. It’s definitely a god idea for a radio that will be moved around a lot or in a backpack.
what coax is that? mini 8? Not the right stuff for 2 meter that's for sure. pl259 ends on 2m?? dam bro u shouldn't make this video public. Unless your trying to be funny? not sure...
It’s rg8x. It works just fine for 2m. Are you trying to be funny? If not just keep moving. Apparently you know nothing about radio.

@@All_Things_Radio Thank Justin. I'll bookmark that website, first I've seen with Yagi design.
@@baconwhiskey821 your welcome. I started with a tape measure yagi and realized those are for receiveing only. Then I built a 5 element 2m using this website. It work excellent. But I wanted more gain. So I took it apart and build this one.

What repeater question? It’s a good little radio. Just wish it could unlocked
Great build, you make it look easy!

Good job Justin! Thought about making one for my outdoor excursions, something simple to put up and take down. The home base Tram 1481 (with tip at approx 36ft) was able to hit a repeater about 50 miles away, but I was running 65 watts on what I think had to be exceptional band conditions. Always looking forward to your stuff! 73s
I appreciate it. This is my shop antenna for when I have the door shut I can still get put to my local repeater. I’m in the process of design another yagi antenna I can take apart and take with me. Hopefully in the near future with I get my nanovna. I have a jpole on a 35ft tower for the base antenna. I have a permanent yagi on my back porch. I’m posting a video of it tomarrow
Thanks for explaining, just passed the technician test and have applied on QRZ
Excellent. I hope you receive it. I have upgraded the antenna just to get transmit. The factory rubber duck does a good job just didn’t have the range I needed. Welcome to a fun and addictive hobby. If I wasn’t traveling so far. I would definitely take it with me. I may take the yagi and get on top of the house lol
Quick and easy build! I am putting one of these on my build list too. Have you tried it with something other than the Baofeng? How far is the reach? 73's!
This yagi doesn’t work very well for transmit . It’s more for fox hunting. Receive is very well. I haven’t tried it with any other radio. I have aluminum yagi built hoping to try it out tomarrow. I can receive at least 20miles. 73s
