The Spud Kings have been on fire, playing with a purpose and new life! The the energy of the home games has been amazing. Gonna be a great weekend for Spud King hockey! Go Spud Kings!!

It is time for the USPHL Premier to get real. In national rankings the Premier teams always trail the 3HL teams because the old legacy of junior hockey/USA Hockey hangs on. Rooted in USA junior hockey history, the 3HL is always stronger, That makes no sense. The result is constraining junior hockey at the Tier III level. This season is no different. This week, the top Premier team Metro Jets is ranked 5th nationally behind the Helena Bighorns, Granite City, Gillette Wild, and the Wausau Cyclones. That ranking is crazy. It is "old school" thinking; a legacy of USA Hockey. As the USPHL winds down to its playoffs that draws 16 team in an old "silver stick" tournament format playing 32 games in Utica among scouts, the 3HL retreats to its 6 team playoff in middle Missouri that barely plays 9 games. At the end, the 3HL crowns another MN based team as champion (or Mason City/Northern Iowa). The 3HL needs to be challenged and so does the USPHL. Time for a single tourney that takes the top winning playoff teams and create a true national Tier III championship. I have watched junior hockey evolve over the past 25 years. It is time to get real. If the AFL and the NFL didn't get together, there would be no Super Bowl.

I'm really excited to have you guys visit us in Idaho Falls and experience the MAC live! I was born and raised here playing hockey and never in a million years did I think we would ever have the arena or caliber of Junior hockey that we have now, it's so exciting! I actually might be more excited about the Frozen Futures Showcase than I am for Christmas!!! I know you guys like your coffee, check out Villa Coffehouse, Moose Ridge Coffee, or The Nice Spot...they are good local owned shops and close to Mountain America Center or Java Express for a local drive thru kiosk.
