Isiah Thomas Eliminates Jordan’s Bulls - 25pts 9ast (1988 ESF Game 5)
Muchas Gracias!👍
1:36 Julius tremendous offensive rebounder, steals and i would add best blocker inch by inch of all times!
36 years later Jordan and Pippen fans don't want you to see this footage because it goes against the narrative that Isiah and Detroit just beat them with pipes and broken bottles.
Paxson SLIPS? Lol! Paxson got schooled and slipped in class as Isiah Thomas gave him a lesson.
This was the game where he started to get his shooting touch back after his hand injury. Still wearing that glove, would wear it just one more time after this game.
In his historic 1988 playoffs, Isiah Thomas became the first player in NBA history in a single postseason to score over 500 points, have over 200 assists, grab over 100 rebounds and have over 50 steals. He hit the game winner over Washington in Game 2 in the first round. He dominated the Bulls in wins Games 1, 3, 4 and 5 . He had historical games in the Games 1 and 5 wins in Boston and we know what he did against the Lakers in Games 1, 3, 4 and 6, controlling those games either with his scoring (Games 3 and 6), big plays (Game 1) or just dominating the tempo while not being a scorer (Game 4). LA was LUCKY in Game 7 that he was restricted with that ankle injury . So all these idiots today who never watched him play needs to know facts, Isiah Thomas was as good a PLAYER (not just point guard) as the league had EVER seen.
Just got the record, Isiah Thomas set the record for steals on the entire 1988 playoffs and again in the Finals that year.
People keep saying Isiah Thomas wasn't good defensively. I saw this man GOALTEND A Kevin McHale inside move and throw it in the stands.
Big Game James
What awesome video. People smoking in the Garden, players waving towels to create wind. The Lakers and Celtics playing real basketball.
Only player post 1970 with 30000p/10000r(3700 offensive)/5000as/2000st/2000bl..one of six in college with 20/20 only thing all others were centers and he averaged 26p/20r in his first two years...as anyone can see in this game he is doubled all the time..if he had the spacing of today game with his quick first step it would be 30+/9/5-7 as/2/2 but most important 10 great highlights per game easy from which 5 would have been dunks!
Thanks for this! One of the VERY best, one of the most versatile, and one of the most underrated… defensive players ever! And he was plenty more than that, even…
Cunningham pumping his fist makes me emotional. They lost the finals but this is arguably the Sixers finest moment.
Toney had Doc & Moses Malone, who at the time were the most exciting forward and most dominant center in the league. But once Toney got rolling, all eyes were on him. He could pour on the buckets like nobody else.
Thanks for the upload!!
Most fun team ever
Even when he's pissed...Dr. J throws it down gracefully.
The Doctor making house calls 🤷🏾♂️
They HAVE to bring back that theme
Moses was such a tremendous and dominant player in his heyday. Thanks for uploading this!
Rodman always made the free throws when it needed to count. Makes you wonder if he is just missing those other free throws for fun.
Wow, thanks for finding this. I’m 70 years old and a big-time Moses Malone fan among others. You don’t see many of these highlights very often.
Bird was the greatest clutch shooter of all time . When the game was on the line NO ONE did it better and Pat Riley said it best when he said IF a game was on the line I want MJ to shoot the shot. If my life was on the line I WANT LARRY BIRD TO SHOOT IT.
Trumps delusion knows no bounds. Its comincal now. In his head he is the best at EVERYTHING!
The only thing Toney couldn't do was shoot the 3 pointer.
I hope you’re joking. I saw him hit two 3s in a row about two steps if not one from half court on the far right sideline against LA in the 82 finals 😂🤣I don’t think he ever missed a 3 in the clutch moments. That was his forte & that’s why he was feared by most opponents. Those shots made Riley’s hairdo unravel and he called a timeout. Toney was the best ever at 3s. Do your homework
@@josephestes9959 I've watched several of his games where he decimated the Celtics and those usually were midrange jumpers.
@@GG-si7fw It’s sad we can’t see many players’ best moments because so many miles of footage was…well, never filmed as hard to believe as it sounds, because Bird/Magic were just getting the league back into view w their amazing talents. But yes AT was otherworldly w 3s, especially in the clutch. I mean he at one point had the league record for 4point plays(he,Bird,???,were the 1st 3 in the NBA to make a 4point play[forgive my not recalling the first guy’s name]) but like Bird, AT could hit them with people in his face and on his back, much reason why he was considered unstoppable. I never understood why he spent a minute on the bench-as a coach I wouldn’t have pulled him out until he raised his hand.
@@GG-si7fw You’ll see those shots if some Laker fan recorded it; a Sixer fan probably did but smashed the old Beta VCR tape to smitherines. I just recall the game being a blowout (30+pt) and at some point Toney getting red hot and making it respectable by getting them within 10 pts, I don’t remember what period. Saw a comment somewhere in the AT archive on UA-cam where a Oregon fan said he witnessed a shooting exhibition in which a guy was nailing shots from half court and SW La. had visited & AT apparently made a habit of giving the college fans their $$ worth. I doubt it was recorded but??
Excellent pest and great defender 😂

question for NBC, Did it look like Jordan and Scottie hated playing with Rodman??????? NBC sports experts where a joke.
Say what you want about being dirty. Mu is dirty too lots of rule changes due to him. They ridiculed limber for not posting back then. Look where we are now with him
AT was my favorite player on my favorite team when I was in high school. I always would ask for number 22. He is so underrated these days. When 3 hall of fame teammates rave about you as a player.....you must have been good.
I agree with one of the commentors about sounding fishy about no bulls clips. Rethinking, there are no big men at the time of the bulls and bad boys rivalry; There wasn,t a big man they had worth defending cause the offense was all mj. Remember the Jordan rules.
Larry Bird & Steph Curry have to be the two hardest guys to guard off the ball in history.
They didn't call him the Boston Strangler for nothing. When he was hot, he was unstoppable.
Amazing Chief
Needed Moses even in this series the rebounding was pathwtic
They needed Moses from 1976-77 onwards. If they had taken Moses from either Buffalo or Portland right after the merger, they would have been unstoppable. Caldwell and Dawkins could not defend any of the top centers well, and their rebounding was poor considering how tall/large the two were.
@@matthewpredmore6523 constantly outrebounded in the big games..not a consistent offensive threat either.
These Sixers teams we just awesome but just couldn't get past those dreaded Lakers.😮

Dick Stockton greatest sports voice of all time
The NBA retroactively give him that 12 rebound securing the record before the jump ball he had secured the ball.
Wow thats unbelievable wow all around player
He called it his One Hand Rider
97 degrees and all the coaches/announcers are still wearing suits and ties. Probably lost ten pounds that night.
People can call Isiah sneaky or whatever but the guy could flat out dominate a game on both ends at 5'11" and after Magic I'm taking Isiah next as the greatest PG all time. I still remember him taking over the 1981NCAA title game when Indiana played N Carolina when they had All Wood. James Worthy and Sam Perkins
Magic Johnson had the hype but when it came to talent, he wasn't on Isiah's level. Isiah Thomas could dominate any player guarding him, ANY PLAYER and Magic could not.
Great compilation especially the out of bounds one. That's pretty rare.
You know what is not in this video? Handchecking. The prevalence and effectiveness of handchecking as a legal defensive tactic is EXAGGERATED by older players.
they didn't go overboard just yet. The turning point was the 1994 Finals with Derek Harper and a few of the other Knicks players as scoring was getting down into the 70s. While hand checking was blamed as part of the culprit, I think it was the more allowed physicality that started trending from Detroit and carried over
It’s in here but you’re right there is an exaggeration. They still do about as much hand checking in this video in today’s game. People just be saying shit and other people believe it the more it’s said
@@kevinwoods5394watch clips of Rodman guarding Jordan or Magic. Then tell me if that would be allowed today
