Whoa, I couldn't even install it because the installer (in Win95 compability mode) just shut down while checking for DirectX. With ScummVM, I could just run the game flawlessly (in Windowed mode too) with no installation or tweaking whatsoever. :D

for those troubleshooting this with voicemeeter banana, make sure to set the rate in the software to 48000 then make sure that your virtual device and actual device in "sound" control panel are both set to eactly the same hz and bit. i'm using 2 channel 24bit 48000hz (Dvd quality)

So, I had similar problem. In my case I have usb mic that has just 2 settings 44100Hz/48kHz(both only 16 bit and 2 channels for some reason). It's great on it's own, especially for it's price and shadowplay works perfect with both settings. But I use obs with audio monitor plugin and virtual cable to apply obs's filters(noise suppression, limiter and noise gate) so I got clean sound in shadow play recordings using virtual cable output as my mic. Here's how it worked it my case: The best setting for me turned out to be 44100Hz 16 bit (while mic itself set to 48kHz 16 bit and virtcable input to 24 bit 48kHz, but changing these doesn't really affect anything unless input set to some poor quality, which is logical). a bit lower frequency doesn't affect the sound quality in general, at least I can't hear the difference when comparing it side by side in audacity. Also I did set it exactly to the settings of the mic first(cuz like... it works with mic derectly perfectly) but 2 channels caused some crackling, while with 1 channels it's super clean. Though a few times it worked on other settings, like it was working pretty good on settings you're proposed for some time, but I've heard one tiny crack one day, decided to play with the settings again, and when I set it back to 24 bit 48kHz, it became worse, lol) And when playing with the settings I've noticed it's tendency to break like this quite a few time.

Mate, thank you! I had never thought, that exclusive access can be cause of that gapping/crackling. But yes, basically turning off Exclusive access on mic helped me.
