Gladys the CRF takes on Salter Fell Green Lane
Good effort 👏👏
We have the Green Lane map from the TRF . However there are more lanes available in the area which my colleagues say are rideable which i wasnt aware of. Thats the benefit of riding with other members of the TRF .
Thankyou ,lanes i never know were there.
When I was younger, fitter and slightly more stupid I used to cycle up to the Jubilee Tower and then freewheel all the way back down. It's still the fastest I've ever been on a pushbike. I'll have to subscribe now.
Its a long hill up to the Tower from Quernmore. I could do it on a pushbike but it would have to be electric!
Thank you for taking me down a literal memory lane, I went to S. Martin's back in the 90's and used to regularly cycle those very lanes. And thank you for sharing your story, while we watch you back on the bike, it's an inspiration to us all. I think after all that you deserved a little lie down.
Hi Alex Thank you for watching. I usually have a lie down in the hedge after i come off the bike.😂
If you turn right opposite the Fenwick arms there is another lane that links back to the main road.
@@NorthWestEnduro Hi I wasn’t aware of that one. Its not listed on the TRF map as a BOAT . Kind regards. David
@@Adventureswithdids the TRF map misses many lanes out. They are slowly getting added though.
When did you film this ? The road out of Kettlewell is currently closed - or is it ? By the way Starbotton has an N at the end 😂
@@jeremyparker3100 Hi Jeremy It was Sunday 16th June. Need to pay more attention to the place names next time🤣
Perfect! Lovely ride.
Yes,it was an amazing day after the rain cleared away in the morning . The scenery is stunning particularly on the way and over to Scar House reservoir.(next video ).Kind regard.David
Beautiful
It was Tony. When your out on top of the moors you can see for miles across Yorkshire.
Yes it was certainly more challenging and steeper than it looks.
Did it on Sunday and fell of twice,1st time where you elegantly dismounted and then about 20 metres further on LOL. Think i will try it the other way next time.
Sir which camera you are using for your videos
The Osmo Action 4.
Brilliant video David. The higher quality really makes this video, as we can see into the distance. Well done 😊
Yes that is valid point Ian.
Sir Which camera you are using for your vlogs
Morning David. Nice video!
Thank you. Editing the Hawes/Buckden one now. David
Great vid. I just saw this on the TRF Facebook page (new member). Beautiful location - looking forward to perhaps joining you on a ride one day.
Hi Thank you. Yes, it would be great to have a meet up sometime. David
Fuck fuck GDI- go with insta 360 go 3, its soo much better butter for action n ease of use 😊😊😊😊😊😊
On a motorcycle, the wind noise would be horrendous, so you would have to turn the recording audio off. For motovlogging, where you want to talk whilst recording, you would therefore need a separate audio recording device, as there is no way to plug in or link an external microphone. This adds another process during editing, in what is already a very time consuming hobby, as you would have to sync the audio with the video footage. Ok if you just leave both running, but if you stop and start again, it becomes a pain. The insta 360 go 3, would be ok as a handlebar cam, facing the rider, or for other different perspectives, but not as a helmet cam, unless you want to be one of those lame vloggers who overlays music.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield yup 👍
I would also be interested to know what the audio sounds like at higher road speeds, with the visor closed ? Incidentally, I was using “voice command” on my OA3, but was finding that I sometimes had corrupted files, whereby there was either no sound, or no recording at all. Since stopping doing that, I have never had an issue. I have stuck a self adhesive button on the record button, to make it easier to get to with my gloves on. As I have loads to spare, if you like, I will drop some off with Dorothy sometime. Cheers
Hi Ian Thank you for your comments .On future outings i will experiment with recording levels and in different scenarios. I might find that keeping the camera recording and taking a spare battery might prove to be the easier option .I will certainly include the findings within the videos. Yes i would appreciate one or two of the adhesive buttons .Thank you.Kind regards.Davidf
@@AdventureswithdidsI just leave mine recording, occasionally checking the battery in the mirror, to make sure it hasn’t switched off. On my OA3, even with the front screen on all the time (recording at 1440p 30fps), I am getting about 50-55mins out of a fully charged battery, but usually carry at least one spare. We are going shopping today, so will drop some adhesive buttons off 👌
Morning David. Really good, informative video, well done. This is the way I am considering going, though I will retain the two camera set up,easier for me to have a “me facing” camera on all the time, rather than stopping and swapping them out. Then just choose the clips to use in editing. The only thing which has prevented me from using this OA4/mic 2 set up, is that others who have done similar, have found the audio to be a bit sterile, but maybe they didn’t play with the settings enough. I look forward to seeing how you get on with it. Maybe put the audio recording settings you are trying, in the description of the video. Cheers
Nice video! Still using the Osmo Action.
Hi Only just started using the Osmo action 4 .If the camera performs as described, looking forward to a far easier and more enjoyable user experience when on the bike compared to the Gopro Hero 10.
This bike is a very good alternative to a dual sport. Im looking at buying my first bike for day/camping trips and the only bike that fits the bill is the crf300L. A lot of owners are underwhelmed by the engine and suspension and end up throwing so much money at it with mods. I feel like the beta would be a great alternative with its acceptable service intervals. It sounds like you're very happy with your choice
Hi Josh Yes,very happy. Both the CRF300L and the Beta 390RR have their advantages .If you explore more on the road then the CRF might be the better choice but the Beta is far more capable off road with it's lighter weight and improved suspension .
Thank you. I'm starting to think that dual sports are a bit of a gimmick unless you're doing really big miles as when you get off road you end up making compromises with weight and suspension Regular oil changes don't bother me but it's the valve checks that are making me reluctant. Are you checking them every 30 hours?
Have only done 6hrs on the bike . Not sure how often your supposed to check the valve clearances. In my opinion as with most things, if it aint broke, don’t fix it,
Oh ok, I was under the impression that they need to be checked as often as the oil changes and is really the only thing holding me back as I'd prefer to be on top of maintenance than be up for a new engine. Hopefully for adventure riding you can push the maintenance even further
Hi Josh There are always compromises to be made.It all depends how much riding your doing on the tarmac and offroad. the beta for me is certainly more fun on the road with its more power and torque. i just need to put some Pirelli MT43s on so i can take part in the Long Distance Trials and it will make the bike slightly more comfortable on the road with also better handling.
enjoy it - pretty bikes
lovely story but i would say i am surprised you chose not to have done the sussers on the crf and kept that, safe bike, comfy and super reliable - i am looking in from the outside of course , wishing you well in your riding buddy
Hi, i did consider upgrading the suspension on the CRF but at the end of the day it would still be 25-30kg heavier than the Beta .Kind regards.david
@@Adventureswithdids yeah weight is a healthy consideration
@@AdventureswithdidsSmart move. I paid the extra money on my CRF and went with YSS suspension front and rear and am still not happy with the off road performance. I am now going to sell the bike and and am trying to decide between the Beta 390 and the Rieju 300.
Morning Dids. Nice ride, and although I won’t be doing the green lane, you have shown me some alternative unclassified’s for me to explore. Stay safe, and good luck with the new bike.
Morning Ian,as a Tesco Driver and a driver for Asda in Kendal previously you do get the opportunity to ride most of the lanes including all the narrow ones in an area from Warcop in the North,to Bedale in the East ,Forton in the South and Ambleside in the West.
Nice vlog I f this was done about 3 weeks ago I am Shure i passed the CRF when it was parked outside the castle,I was also looking for lanes.Keep putting out the vlogs I do enjoy them.
Yes it was probably me! As i suggested on the video,i will join the TRF and download their App on the phone in order to see all the green lanes that are currently open.Kind regards.David
Morning. Nice ride, and recording. A rather abrupt ending though 😮, I was interested in the deer 😂
Good afternoon Dids, nice balanced video. I know your wife doesn’t like steep drops, so won’t “drop” you in it 😉 We have all done the, left the battery at home thing only to discover it was in our pocket, 🤔😂 Good informative chat. Well done 👍Funnily enough, The Bingley Wheeler has done that same road recently, but in reverse.
Hi Ian,thank you for your comments and kind support as always. She did find the comment over steep drop hilarious.Kind regards.David
Great vid dids, what do you think of the CRF.
Hi, most of my riding will be on tarmac with green lanes in between.I needed a bike that was powerful enough, comfortable over long distances, capable of doing the rough tracks, very economical ,reliable and well built and the Honda was the perfect choice .
