Know Where to Place your Subject in Landscape Photography
Landscape Photography is all about balance. Whether you have great light or weather conditions, might be totally independent from your will. However, composition is totally within your control, and that's the one thing any learning or even advanced landscape photographer needs to always work on. The rest will truly follow naturally.

  • @EdwardMartinsPhotography
    @EdwardMartinsPhotography 7 місяців тому

    For digital landscape photography, Fuji is the best system. The advantages of a full frame are really diminished these days if they even exist at all anymore. If you really need more resolution then there is the GFX system.

    • @remontheroad
      @remontheroad 7 місяців тому

      That's my guess too. I don't find huge incentive moving to FF now. The GFX system would be the one. But 100mpx is way too much, and the 50 Serie'specs are lagging behind most cameras today, although I am sure picture quality is exceptional!

    Lightroom does a good job, but based on my playing around, I think LR is applying more sharpness than the others. All the programs are getting better over time, and LR made great strides. In all fairness, with a few tweaks the Topaz file can likely match the LR file.

    • @remontheroad
      @remontheroad 8 місяців тому

      Topaz can probably do it, that's totally true. I especially find it efficient on Jpegs, which is nice and doesn't create aan additional heavy file. However, why use/purchase another software if already available in LR and works well in most cases?

    I switch to Fuji about a year ago from nikon and I have not regretted it I own 3 Fuji cameras now the S10 was my first experiment if you like I wanted to see what the colours were like and I picked app one secondhand for about 800 bucks. After using it for about 3 days I realised how beautiful the foodie colours were so I saved app some more money and I purchased the Xt5 This has been my main camera up until just recently when I purchased a gf X50 s ii after having a really good 6 months sales wise. The sharpness in fuji cameras really suits landscape photographers also the colours as well and IM not just talking about the film simulation even the colours from the raw photos I really love the ability to create in raw images from the foodie system. But what I found is I didn't need to edit as much. I really love my journey into Fuiji, and thank you for your video

Don't let the extra megapixels stink that it doesn't perform well in low light. Remember low light performance is relationship between many things ...... Wide makes a lot of sense since it gives tons of cropping options, assuming you don't mind losing the pixels. I too often get home and find I wish I shot a little wider. But, it's hard for me to not go out with a 70-200 these days. It really gives so many options and allows us to cut out distractions easily. Anyway, great presentation. Thank you!

    Hate those screw-lock legs - get a bit of muck in there and they don't work!! I use the Vanguard Alta-Pro 263. Not the lightest, but very adaptable in its positioning and very rigid too. Easily holds my Canon dSLR with 100-400 zoom or 100 macro. I also prefer 3-way heads rather than ball heads, I use a Benro precision geared head.

    Most ballheads tend to sag when tightening, when you use them with heavy long lenses. I have a LeoFoto VH-30R Long Lens Head, a 2-way head. For full adjustments I have levelling base underneath. The 2-way head is really convenient for reliable adjustments. On my other tripod I now have a geared head, for same issue of easier adjustments without sagging.

    • @remontheroad
      @remontheroad 9 місяців тому

    • @TimvanderLeeuw
      @TimvanderLeeuw 9 місяців тому

      @@remontheroad The combination of levelling base + 2-way head does also facilitate very easy and precise panning when you want to shoot a panorama, and once you level the camera you can very easily adjust your composition without losing your level horizon. I really like this way of working even for "regular" and wide angle lenses, where the sagging is not an issue!

      Don't get me wrong, worthless might be too tough on it. However, for a few bucks more, the quality and reliability you get is just far above.

      I have a cheap tripod from K&F Concept that looks very much like that Rollei tripod. From experience I can tell you that I find the way it folds up impractical, it just costs me extra time.

      I bought that Tripod on used and it is good i did not have any problems with it its sturdy enough. So if you find that on sale or used you should get it :)

    Nicely done video. fair point. I am doing it very differently, if I have to only take one lens for a busy hiking (meaning many ppl) or a quite hiking (meaning birds and many animals), it is the 100-400. I'll take my chances to stich images together for a wide view, but when there's many ppl, I can really zoom in to avoid their heads, and when I encounter a wild life, I got my chance to snap that too. I will however, keep my 14-24 in my car if I can. but that's just me.. although 100-400 is a rather small telephoto, I'm sure by lots of photographers' standard, it is way too big and heavy. I also not recommend taking anything longer than this too, it becomes a major hazard, and gym equipment.

      Yes I agree. Telephoto can really great to use too. However, even by stitching it shots, it'll impossible to get this distorted effect. That's once again a personal preference. It also depend a lot on the location.

    I used to always bring a wide angle lens with me but I could never use it as my only lens... I find that a superzoom is just more useful, especially for the odd animal and bird sighting. And now that phones have ultrawide's built in I found that I haven't really reached for a wide angle lens in 3 years, since they will more than suffice in a pinch for that exaggerated perspective. Regardless, excellent photos, you are clearly good with that lens and I'm glad it works for you!

      Thanks a lot. I guess it's a question of preferences. In some cases, I also prefer a telephoto too, but in general my wide angle is my go to lens.
