I’m not regularly a fan of romance in cinema…but the British adaptations of Jane Austin are stunning in that regard. Colin Firth’s and Jennifer Esle’s eyes shining at each other….and the late, great, Alan Rickman frozen….transfixed…. …it would even make Ray Charles cry….

The Piano is not a good movie. It is not as good as the world says it is! The reason why it is R rated is because of the sex scenes. How can a movie with music in it be R rated like this? Why is it okay to have a kid in an R rated movie like this? The Piano is having people criticize and gossip about each other so the movie will get away with not being criticized and only receive positive comments! Well, guess what! This movie does not deserve the love or the positive comments it gets! This movie sucks! One of the reasons this movie got awards and nominations is because of the sex scenes and music in it! That was not okay for this movie to exist! The Piano is an awful movie! People only like this movie because of the sex scenes! I will make sure this movie is criticized, gossiped, ridiculed, and be rattled about like it had people do that to each other! I will destroy this movie like it had people do that to each other! The Piano is a menace of film history! The Piano is a bad movie! It is worse than Purple Rain! This movie blames criticisms on people and other films that are better than this film! This movie is not and never will be better than any other films in film history! How could people like this overrated garbage movie?!

Hi. Just quickly... S&S version is lovely, vibrant, familiar?.. I can't quite pick it. It very much deserves to be acknowledged, however, that Dowland wrote this not just as a poem, but as a song!, with music for lute and voice and it is gravely beautiful. It would be a tragedy for this to be over-looked.

Could someone please help me find a song similar to this one? I'm so captivated by this scene that I find myself watching the video over and over again. Marianne's song is sweet and youthful, with a whisper-like quality. Brandon's adoring gaze at Marianne is starkly endearing, and Elinor’s intellectual gaze adds to the charm. And the lingering resonance of Marianne's final moments - I love every bit of it.

THIS is the version that SHOULD have been on the CD soundtrack for this film - I heard the opera singer version with full orchestration and, much as the singer sings well it loses something, it just doesn't convey the sweet emotional innocent charm Kate Winslet's voice and performance brings to this beautiful song. It just goes to show, that old saying "Less is more" is never more true than with this wonderful version by Kate. I keep coming back to it, keep replaying it, singing it and replaying again it in my head. I cannot get enough of it. Sheer beauty.

One of my favorite films of all time. I've been rewatching it recently, paying special attention to Alan Rickman's role as Col. Brandon. And it's just amazing how he could convey even the subtlest feeling or emotion through his facial expressions. This beautiful scene is just one example. He was truly a gifted and wonderful actor, and so very deeply missed.

Emma Thompson’s acting also adds so much to this scene. The quiet wisdom of Eleanor picking up on every emotion in the room.

Alan Rickman has such a beautiful countenance. I could hear his speak and my heart heard him, as if he were speaking to me. It seems as though he could look into one's soul. I could curl up in his arms and feel comforted.

She's not even known for singing. I've heard many opera singers mostly men sing this. This is the most beautiful interpretation by a singer of this song I've ever heard. She was actually excellent singing it. I love it.
