    At first, I couldn’t slide the tube on the connector. I tried soap and I tried hot water. I tried a short angle cut and a longer one. I just couldn’t slip that hose on. Then I grabbed a long-nose needle nose plier. I pushed it about 1/2” into the hose and PULLED open the handles with a bit of force. With the hose stretched open, I forced the connector into the hose, just barely! The I grabbed the hose with my shirt and easily twisted it up the connector. The other end was just as easy, although opening the pliers with two hands while simultaneously maneuvering the connector past the open jaws and into the hose was a bit of a contortionist act. A second set of hands would have proved useful. It works! For how long until the next leak, who knows! I hope my little trick helps someone.

    How do you get the fabric over the new adapter? Ours is so tight it has been impossible.

    Uh, hello? The purpose of a how-to video is to show us how something was done, and not just show us what you did with a sketchy verbal walkthrough! Otherwise it's called an audio!

    Thanks. This is precisely how I need to repair my hose. Wish you wouldn't have changed your mind about demonstrating the process of connecting the two pieces over the coupling...just needed to SEE!

    I used a PEX 1/2 inch connector and PEX 1/2 inch compression rings. I already had the compression tool. Worked GREAT!

    Why Pocket Hoses Fail Description: 2 Plastic connectors on each end of the hose. One expandable tubing is clipped onto those connectors. One non-expandable but larger tube of tough fiber weaved outer jacket. water pressure causes the inner tubing to expand like a balloon. the outer cover prevents the inner tubing from over expanding and popping. The inner tube expands by water pressure. Then contracts when the pressure drops. The greatest pressure happens right near the connectors. Each time this happens, that inner tubing begins to form cracks. When enough cracks near to each other forms, water pressure forces it way through that weakened area, ending up as a leak, most frequently right near the connectors. The clip that holds the rubber tubing keeps it from expanding. Meanwhile, the non-clip hose expands. The difference between them generates the biggest cracks. Then at that area, it splits open. The more you use the hose, the sooner it splits open near the connectors. once you understand the problem with these types of hoses, you must decide whether or not they are worth your while. If you do a ton of use, then vinyl is the way to go. If occasional, then pockethose like products are the better choice.

    If you look into the female end of the hose you will see the hole for the water to go through is small So you can use that size SMALL coupling and you will not need to use soap or require needle nose plyers or a vice to hold the coupling. Make sure you cut the blue hose on an angle with some sharp scissors and then make sure you tighten the fittings over the cloth so not to damage the blue hose It was easy and the water pressure is same as before with the smaller coupling

    • @mfortou4251
      @mfortou4251 4 роки тому

      Small is what size in inches?

    • @TamirylAuvahn
      @TamirylAuvahn 4 роки тому

      @@mfortou4251 Look into the female hole where the hose gets attached to the faucet Then buy the coupling at have the same hose size If you do that then you dont have to fight like crazy with a vice, soap and plyers to slide it over the coupling But cut the rubber hose on a slight diagonal to get it started to get it in Then make sure you put the tention hardware over the outter hose jacket and not on the rubber tube I think the coupling is QUARTER INCH The one on the video I think is 3/8 inch its SO HARD to put on

    • @TamirylAuvahn
      @TamirylAuvahn 4 роки тому

      @@mfortou4251 Also I use METAL coupling not the plastic one AND try to sand down the ridges just a little on either metal or plastic so they dont bite into the hose when you tighted the clamps JUST A LITTLE sanding with fine paper I did it last week it works get the hose now I paid 100 dollars for this hose last year they always break after a year so if it only takes like 10 dollars in parts to repair it each time its OK

    • @TamirylAuvahn
      @TamirylAuvahn 4 роки тому

      @@mfortou4251 The MOST important thing is to gently but firmly CLAMP the hose 12 inches from the work area where you will cut it on both sides And KEEP IT CLAMPED until finished Because if you dont do this the hose will retract 20 feet into the outer jacket either way and then the house is going in the garbage

    Only suggestion I'd add is to use shaving cream vs. soap as soap tends to eat rubber/ foam parts over time in my experience. Shaving cream on the other hand rinses away immediately and poses no issue to the materials long term... great video man, thanks 😎👍

    This worked GREAT, thanks so much for your video and detailed discussion! I got another 2 months' use out of the hose before a new leak appeared, after which I trashed the pocket hose and bought a contractor's rubber hose. Some day, I hope to learn my lesson about all this "As Seen On TV" crap. :)

    This worked well for me, thanks. I used a smaller coupling. I cut the outer material where the leak was and pulled some hose through in a loop before cutting, so no need for clamping. I soaped the inside of the tubing and wore rubber gloves to get more grip. Duct tape, jubilee clips, job done. Great video.
