Perfect video. This was my story! Thank you so very much. This is the first video I have watched that perfectly explained what happened to me. I suffered for four months. Finally after being told that my root canal was a success so many times I had a CAT scan done by an Endodontist that was independent of the other doctors. He said right away "The tooth must come out." And the next day I went to the oral surgeon and had it taken out. I would say 90% of my symptoms have cleared up and praying the rest does as well. During those 4 months I ended up in the ER with all kinds of symptoms that began shortly after the root canal was done. I had the beginning of bone loss directly under the root canal tooth when the CAT scan was done. I had had blisters right away after the procedure that were painful and awful. It was 4 of the worst months. I was determined to get the tooth out as I never had a problem before the day I had it done. I would hope to never get a root canal again. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

I had 2 root canals on right and 2 on left. I removed 2 on right. My health improved. I eat on left. Now I wish to remove left ones. How would I eat? My removable dentures hurt me. Are implants any better than root canals?

I had back pain issue for last 2 years, sometimes neck pain, IBS syndrome which developed, bloating and stomach issues. Otherwise healthy. I went for xrays which showed 2 failed root canal treatments which i have already mentioned to my previous dentist office and have been told once it flares up it has to go out. Two out of three root canals which i did in high school years in this office failed. Fast forward now 15 years after those treatments, my new dentist retreated both, and my back pain is gone, stomach is getting a lot better with taking probiotics daily. All in all i feel again healthy human in their 30s. I will retreat also one last tooth as prophylaxis just because i want to make sure it does not cause me issues down the road. Otherwise, if one of these teeth start messing up me again, its going out. I would then either used orthodontics to move others closer or bridge or even new treatments where they transplant one other tooth (such as wisdom) on its place (in case its molar). Phew, hopefully everyone retreats it or just take it out. Wish you all the best, thank you for the video.

I would love to have you look at my X-rays. I have been suffering for so long. I have been trying to keep my oral health in check for a year and a half, attempting to get three implants. Every tooth has been worked on. I am not complaining about my dentist. He seems great. He caught an infection that spread to my sinus and beyond. I would look at my X-rays and possibly be unable to see what you can see. I've had several scans. He has shown them to me on screen, but it's not enough for me to say I am sure of what I am looking for. Thank you for your video!

i wish I would have know about this 30 years ago. No noticeable bone loss but the roots and nerves extended into my sinuses. 3 sinus surgeries and years later and I thought I was dying before that tooth finally broke and then...the inflammation in my sinuses retreated. Is this what it feels like to feel normal? Wow, all those years I didn't need to feel sick.

I’m sorry, but apple cider vinegar has benefited me and helped me so much it also reversed my periodontal disease and it took off all of my tartar. I still went to get a cleaning from the dentist, but they were very shocked at how my teeth were healing because when I came there for the initial intake, it was severe and all I did was use apple cider vinegar as a rents, I also made a homemade all natural toothpaste with turmeric, baking soda, oil of oregano and xytinol orange peel and gargle with hydrogen peroxide the hygienist was very shocked to see how my gums turned back pink and how I had stopped my gums from bleeding and all just from those products alone, as well as changing my diet

I had a root canal 2.5 months ago. It never felt okay. Always a dull pain. I visited the dentist twice to let him know. Second visit a few weeks ago he prescribed amoxicillin before moving on to retreating. I felt awful. My arm pit had a gland inflamed (I’ve never had that). Tried the antibiotic for 4 days 500 mg 4 times a day. I couldn’t poop. So I stopped. I felt terrible. I was on my way on a family vacay to Hawaii. First ever since I was 11. Ruined it. I came back and week later my gums bled a lot , throughout mouth when flossing. Seriously inflamed and pain around root canal. Now it was throbbing. Made appointment to come in. He mentioned grafting my gums, tapping my teeth. I said it’s NOT gums, it’s IN the tooth, I feel blood pumping in it. We pulled it. I smelled it as he pulled it, absolutely FOUL. I am letting it heal. He says he put a fake bone piece in there before stitching? I go back Tuesday to remove stitches. My arm put hurts. I feel sickly. I’m not on anti biotics. Because of my reaction. Or, maybe the infection caused it? My Neck and upper back hurts. Any suggestions? I’m avoiding root canals. I can’t afford an implant, but luckily this tooth is very back bottom on left. So nothing surrounding both sides, no bridge. I’ll likely leave it be. I feel yucky. Do I need to ask for Bone Graft? He said adding that bone that a moment was prep for if I get an implant. I doubt I’ll get one. Almost positive I won’t. Edit; it was a bone graft. I’m fine now. Seems the neck and back pain is separate, likely pinched a nerve. Allergies or fighting something caused swollen glands. I hope never need another root canal because I don’t really want a partial or bridge and can’t afford an implant.

I had my teeth X rayed on the right hand side of my face by my local Pacific Smiles dentist last October because I had a sore bottom front molar tooth whenever I ate something hot or cold or if I accidentally touched it with a fork while I was eating,it was also throbbing & giving me pain therefore it was keeping me awake during the night. He left it up to me because the X ray showed that I had a big cavity Under an existing filling in the wisdom tooth on that side of my mouth & he thought it would be best to pull the tooth out. But he let me decide between that & him giving me another filling because it came very Close to the nerve but I decided to go for the filling but he let me know that if the pain persists then the tooth will need to be extracted. I am a bit worried that he told me that my lower front molar is cracked but it hasn't cracked right through the dentin. The pain went away a few weeks after the cavity was drilled out then filled so during Christmas I had no toothache, what the problem is now is that about 2-3 months ago the front molar while it wasn't sore the gum was inflamed in between the teeth so I am wondering if that's gingivitis, the molar being cracked is causing me problems or if I have a plaque buildup that only a dentist can clean which is causing the gums to become inflamed. I have also noticed intermittent pain in my gums around my upper front molar tooth,it comes & goes. Lately I have noticed that the premolar tooth right next to the front molar has been sore sometimes & my gums have been inflamed in that area,I have been applying gum ulcer gel & taking aspirin to give me pain relief because a month ago it was beginning to throb & gives me pain when I went to bed but taking aspirin relieves the pain & helps me sleep. Now while there is some pain it's just a bit annoying & a little uncomfortable so I take a couple of aspirin tablets to give me pain relief,I will either 1. Keep doing what I am doing until the infection completely clears up or 2. If it keeps flaring up & giving me pain I will have to make another appointment with my dentist to get the problem fixed. The cracked front molar is what's worrying me because I don't want the dentist to pull teeth left, right & centre also it costs $3000 AUD for a root canal treatment if I want to keep the tooth which means that the dentist will have to refer me to an orthodontist or an endodontist to get that procedure done ! As I am saying, the mouth ulcer gel & aspirin may only offer me temporary relief from pain,if it's something that my immune system or antibiotics can clear up then I won't need any teeth to be pulled which is cheaper than the root canal procedure !

What about when a root canal gets infected and the infection moves into the jawbone and eats away at the jawbone? A bone that has been decimated by bacteria will not show up as an infection on a CT scan as the decimated bone will be much softer than both. Surely there must be some people out there with a clear CT scan but still have heavily infected bone in their jaw?

How come sometimes the infection at the tip does not show on x ray. Is the another type of imaging that will show? I had a tooth that was infected outside the root and dentist wanted to do RC but I wanted extraction Turns out I was right since he found the tip of the root was infected and RC would have been useless.

    • @allisondarcy

I asked this website called kriss and it said that standard dental X-rays can miss infections, particularly at the early stages, because they don't capture the tooth root tip well. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a more advanced imaging technique that provides a detailed 3D view of the tooth roots and surrounding bone.

I had a great root canal and crown that lasted 12 years. I had to have a second root canal on the same tooth but this time I ended up with an abscess. It kep getting infected so I decided to have the tooth removed a few weeks later. I have an appt next Tuesday with a surgeon to have an implant because my neighboring teeth are moving around and it's hard to eat on that side. I flossed my teeth last night which I'll admit I hadent done in a few days. This morning, I woke up with a swollen lymph node right below that same spot. So, I took some herbs called Biocidin, vit D and zinc plus drank a lot of water. The lymph node is much smaller but I am extremely nervous about getting this dental work. My immune system isn't great since I had mercury poisoning. I am nervous about what it will do to my blood. I don't want to have a stroke. I wonder if antibiotics can totally kill this bacteria/biofilm. Or, will I just need to make sure to take something to thin my blood for the rest of my life? I don't like taking medicine and would do everything to avoid taking antibiotics because they mess up my stomach and make my gut issues worse. Any advice?
