Kingdoms & Kings: Started from the Bottom (Message)
Speaker: Justin Chandler
Scripture: Daniel 2:1-24
Justin continues our series, Kingdoms & Kings, a look at the book of Daniel. There are many ways that God grows our faith. Years ago, author and Pastor Andy Stanley wrote a book, Five Things God Uses to Grows Your Faith (Practical Teaching, Private Disciplines, Providential Relationships, Pivotal Circumstances, and Personal Ministry). Uniquely, each of these is represented in Daniel 2:25-49.

    I believe that only the Father is God and that Jesus is God’s Son. 1 Corinthians 8:6 states, “For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” Only the Father is referred to as Almighty God in the Bible and he is identified by the name YHWH, which is usually translated Jehovah in English. (Psalm 83:18) God is the one who raised Jesus from the dead, exalted him, and made him Lord (Acts 2:32-36), giving him all authority in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18) When Jesus asked Peter in Matthew 16:15, “Who do you say I am?”, Peter correctly answered in verse 16: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

      @@harbortrinity Thanks for your response. Colossians 1:15 and 16 says that by means of the Son, the firstborn of every creature, all things were created. When it says "all things", does that mean Jesus is God because nothing existed before Jesus? No. Verse 16 says that all things were created _by_ Jesus Christ, or _through_ Jesus Christ. When it says "all things were created by him", it is understood that this does not include God himself. Paul said something similar in 1 Corinthians 15:27, 28. There it states that God put all things under Jesus' feet. Does that mean that God is also under Jesus’ feet? Paul clarifies in verse 27: "But when he says all things have been subjected, it is evident that this does not include the One who subjected all things to him." In Colossians 1:15, Jesus is called the Firstborn of all creation. He was the first of all God's creations. So according to the Bible, Jesus had a beginning. Revelation 3:14 refers to Jesus as "the beginning of the creation by God."

    • @harbortrinity
      @harbortrinity Місяць тому

      @jollyrancher521 "the firstborn of all creation" speaks to Jesus' incarnation/resurrection. Jesus cannot both be created and God. To deny Jesus' divinity would be to deny a core tenant of the Christian faith (both Christ's divinity and the Trinity).

    Ummm... No. God has been called hundreds if not thousands of words through the centuries. Mankind has created those words. God gave us the capacity to create those words, if you believe the scripture to be true, however he did not create the words. For the same reason that God has a different name in every language, and every religion. Why, if he created the word he wished to be called, would he have created a different name for each. Why does the word God, not transcend language, and why, furthermore, is God in English a translation of a different word from a previous language?

    • @harbortrinity
      @harbortrinity 4 місяці тому

      @MikeWazowski1388 welcome to the channel and conversation. The whole video speaks to the thought process. Words have the mening we have ascribed to them. God transcends language and culture yet speaks into them. The English word "God" is of Germanic origin. The Hebrews had multiple words for God, but not all refered to YHWH. The Greeks had one word to refer to god or the gods.

    • @MikeWazowski1388
      @MikeWazowski1388 4 місяці тому

      @@harbortrinity thanks for the welcome, but you virtually proved my point for me. God did not decide to call himself God. We did. We have given him many names, none of which we have any evidence or reason to believe he had anything to do with. You say he transcends language but he doesn't. Every language on the planet has a different name for him, and most have different beliefs about him. The belief there is a God at all, seems to be the only thing that does transcend language, and even the god they believe in can't be agreed upon. Words have meaning because WE gave them meaning, not God. I'm sorry, but your claim just doesn't make sense logically.

    • @harbortrinity
      @harbortrinity 4 місяці тому

      @MikeWazowski1388 proving God's existence in a 60 second short is a signficant task. Not the intent of this clip. In the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament for Christians), God calls Himself YHWH. That was not given by anyone. The Hebrews used the terms "el" (god) and "elohim" (gods) to describe the gods of the surrounding nation. YHWH would use these terms to describe attributes of Himself in contrast to the other gods (i.e. El-Shaddai = God Almighty, El Elyon = God Most High, etc.). Jehovah is a Latinization of YHWH which includes similar uses (i.e. YHWH/Jehovah Jireh = The Lord Will Provide, YHWH/Jehovah Rapha = The Lord Who Heals, etc.) In the New Testament, the same concept applies to the use of theos in reference to all gods and THE God of Gods (distinguished by a defnite article). Adonai means "lord" and can refer to owners with cultural context. Adonai also serves as a translation of YHWH when New Testmanet writers quote from the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. In the same as el in Hebrew and theos in Greek, adonai is used as "the lord of lords."

      @@harbortrinity I don't recall asking you to prove God's existent, nor did I imply that's what you were attempting. I have been pretty clear in stating that God did not decide to be called God nor is he called God in every language. Furthermore the idea that God created words, as you claimed in your video, is just not true. Even if you believe that God created mankind, you still must agree that mankind created language. The Bible ages the world to be about, what, 3k years old... Give or take? Sumerians had an entire written language, and we date them to be about 6k years in our past. I'm not arguing God's existence, as I can tell from your point of view on the subject that would be a very cyclical debate. I just think you're wrong in stating that God created language.

    • @harbortrinity
      @harbortrinity 3 місяці тому

      @MikeWazowski1388 The references above refer to what God has called Himself, not what people have called Him. The Bible was written over 3000 years (into the first century A.D.). That is not reflective of the age assigned to the Bible but the date on which the authors wrote. It's not a stretch to say that God created all people, people created cultures, cultures assigned value to words, and that no created thing could capture the scope of a creator. That is the essence of the video.

Churches will of course have aspects of society, but even "Bible believing" churches today won't push hard on the value of marriage, at least not on women. Your insight into this scripture is very interesting. So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. ( Col 2:16) Your insight is not close to what you meant with regards to Mark 2:27-28 Jesus never told us to do something else that He did not do. He practiced what He preached, so why did Jesus worked non stop and did not observe special days? Look at the term He used in v28. Men are making a big deal about this verse, but I want you to get both scriptures to gather. Because, Jesus will not contradict His own Word.

    • @harbortrinity
      @harbortrinity 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for you joining the conversation, @Qwakwustephen. The reference in Colossians 2:16 is to Jewish ceremonial days, not the 7-day Sabbath as prescribed in creation and the 10 Commandments. When you look at the Jewish leaders' contention with Jesus, it was over what would be considered "work" on the Sabbath. The plucking of grain on the Sabbath (this week in Mark 2) and the healing of a woman on the Sabbath (last week in Luke 13) were both traditions added to the Sabbath and clearly not the heart. Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed (Luke 5:16), regularly taught within the Sabbath, and celebrated the Passover with His disciples (Luke 22:15). Jesus did not work non stop.

    • @Qwakwustephen

      @harbortrinity The Bible was written for the Jewish people and so non Jewish can say that the Bible is not meant for them if we are to accept your twisted interpretation. If we are to consider your twisted interpretation, then non Jewish people (outsiders ) will consider the Bible as "NOT FOR ME" but for the Jewish. I am very surprised that you are twisting Col 2 while Jesus clearly and generally spoke to the day special days. God works everywhere, every day, and no day is bigger than the other. I don't really understand what you mean. Jesus was talking to the Jewish people. Sunday worship was instituted by the pagan Rome but changing the day of worship is not is neither here or there. You are just twisting the Word to make your denominational relevant. The verse is Col 2, and Mark 2 are NOT indirect speech that's need any kind of background interpretation. I am not Jewish so I do not need to follow any Jewish traditions but God knew that NOT everyone is traditionally a Jewish and so He made a way for non Jewish also, that's accepting Him as Lord is what matters not days or special occasions. Jesus is saying there's no day better than the other any other, but you are saying something else. That's wrong. Are saying the Jewish people have different interpretation and non Jewish also have different interpretation. This is ridiculous because of your denomination beliefs. Show me where denomination is even relevant. You are not Jewish so please stop observing the Sabbath if that is your understanding.

      @harbortrinity But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple.ᐯ But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. [Matt 12:3-8] You are behaving the same manner the Jewish were contending with Christ, telling Him to obey the traditions of the land. But Jesus gave them the right answer. God is everywhere. God works each day. Each day is God's day. Saturday is not special than any other day.

      @harbortrinity The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.

      @harbortrinity ᐯ But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures, say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life [Gal 3>>>>>>] ᐯ I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. [Gal 2:21]

    True, even on the internet you see people trash talking certain jobs, and telling people to get a better Job and things of that nature.

    Jokes on us. With people taking out $30k to $60k loans on average for degrees just to make under 60k a year from jobs that lowball what you do doesn’t make much of a difference. The only high values positions are jobs like doctor or lawyer or even nursing. which can cost several 100k in tuition are not feasible anymore.

    Brother, they will not allow God's word to go out online. But don't let that stop you because we can find it and watch it. They will lie to you and tell you no one is watching so that you might just quit. Don't let them win just continue to preach God's word. That's what I do with 7 different channels.
