Now this is a company I'd enjoy working for! Thanks Kevin for that great breakdown.
Thanks for sharing! Proud to be a BraveMaker board member!🎬🎞️🎥
So good! Question! That might be dumb but i’m not afraid to ask. :) 1) Do you file two returns if you are registered in state A, but film in state B with the intention of utilizing state B’s refundable or transferable tax credit?
Love these❤
Grateful for companies like you, Wrapbook! 💙
Yay Midwest!! Thanks for sharing your insights, Shari!
Your content is very useful 👍 Thanks 🙏
Thanks for having me on the pod, Cameron!

I subscribed to this channel a few weeks ago, and so glad i did. Emily Rice is the reason our small post accounting company has had work! She is the bomb, thanks so much for having her on!
One of my best college classes was a level 300 finance class. I audited the class which meant I had to pay for it but did not receive credits. It was a night class which was attended by working professionals. The professor not only had outstanding case studies but he allowed the students with real world experiences to talk about their business experiences. One such student worked for a large accounting company. He related a story of a wealthy businessman in another country who retained that company to do a cost/benefit analysis of a potential company purchase he had in mind. The businessman's son had recently obtained an MBA in the United States and he had told his dad that was the proper thing to do. The accounting company produced a very well researched paper for the client which among other points mentioned the tax savings. However, the client said it was not helpful since he never paid taxes. I can still hear the laughter in the room.
heartbreaking, brutal, brilliant. It mentioned a few things I've been advocating. Partner with someone from another industry who is financially set and attaching an ancillary funnel: video game, merch, event premiere, etc. Damn this one hurts!
This was so helpful. Thank you. Really great to hear the latest news in production

Problems are the same in Germany..... We have here no way in generating private equity for film.... That's not possible here---- otherwise- I am trading antiques and producing my first film cutrently--- and with this - not being able to raise film financing through private equity.... It gives great opportunities for me, as a market person to invest in my own stuff. I can reduce tax for example. And since all money stays in my company, I don't have to pay income tax.... Would I invest in a house - I have to pay income tax and all the house buying taxes.... But with film- nobody went that route- so the state has not developed muscles for getting money from me..... Most films here are financed with filmförderung.... A kind of states loan- but we see that system is wanky+ states TV will face major changes in the coming years.... And all the producing companies will be hurt when the old system breaks away.... What great market opportunies.....
Similar scenario here in Canada. Thanks for your sharing your story.
I adore your vision Georgia. I am grateful to be apart of it. Let’s make history.
Used Wrapbook for the first time as talent. Couldn’t find a way to add mileage. I’m guessing “user error” But if not, would be a nice addition
Excellent information, well presented. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah, that’s all good and wonderful. How about fixing your app! True story. I stood in a soundstage along with an entire film and still crew as Production told us they were on boarding with Wrapbook. First thing out of the producers mouth was never use the app!!!. Turns out this person is a consultant/beta tester of some sort for Wrapbook and confirms that the app will mess you up in some situations. I’ve been a member of Wrapbook for about four years and I have found that to be 100% true. Every other time I deal with a time card I have to call tech-support. All I get is we are working diligently all the time to upgrade our app and sorry for the inconvenience. I feel like sending them an accounting bill for doing their job for them. I can’t find much else on the Internet, where people are hating on Wrapbook, but I’m gonna lead the charge. I’m to the point of, refusing jobs that want me to bill through Wrapbook. Fix your product! You have taken center stage, we are all looking at you and your failing! Miserably. Fix your product!
Hey! My name is Phoebe and I currently attend the University of California of Santa Cruz where I am a Film and Digital Media Major and an Accounting Minor, and I would love to get into contact with Nathan just to pick his brain. I am super interested in doing what he is doing! If you could help at all I would really appreciate it, thanks (:
This is some really good information, I'd really like to help my country to become more attractive to film.
Hello I love your content especially the one with litwak I was wondering what are the best ways to create a media franchise/media proprietary for like global expansion if the question makes sense
Can you talk about the 2023 tentative agreement
Hi can I put my time card in times worked
*promosm*
Floor is Lava was clearly fake. When you watch closely the participants make decisions that don't make any sense. For example, participants on one section of the course will inexplicably stop their progress while a different participant elsewhere completes a move that the producers want to focus on. If this is truly a legitimate competition with money on the line then behavior like this is non-sensical. This man is a Charlatan. Rewatch the show with a critical eye and decide for yourself, the answer is clear. I'd love to see a follow up interview in which this guy is dangled above real lava until he spills the beans about these sinister schemes.
Best Podcast ever. Having the opportunity to work in Production Company it was really helpful.
Did you say that Worker's comp DOES apply to Loan outs through WrapBook?
Do you only handle California Production Payroll?
Great Session
Hello! Just now getting informed on Wrapbook. Do you offer insurance for freelancers offering small scale event Live-stream production? Is payroll only for employees, or will it work to pay out contractors for the production team? I don’t have an internal/W-2/employee team yet and subcontract when able, but the plan is to expand some day to provide creative employment opportunities within live event production Disregard; question answered. 👍🏼 Thanks! - Jared
Such great information. Thank you
thank you for this!
This is why I will not do productions in California. Often I need to bring in a person such as a sound guy, PA, grip only for a few days or even just a day, or a few hours. So why should I have to go through all hoops to make them an employee only to let them go after the project is done?
Thank you for posting this and being very brutally honest in your reading of the law and presenting a very accurate portrayal of the legal landscape. I am continually baffled at Californian independent, smaller, non-union productions claiming they're "fine" after AB5 with still 1099ing vast swaths of people. Unless you are a major studio, you need to err heavily on the side of employing people. You do NOT have an exemption, even though there were some exemptions later carved out for AB5.
