This is the first in several videos describing the 1700 miles of roadway between Douglas, AZ and the Canadian border in Montana. On July 14, 2013, this video briefly explores the town of Douglas. On July 15, we'll start our drive in a 31 ft. RV passing through seven national forests and several national parks and monuments. More on them in subsequent postings. We expect we'll spend about six we...
Amazing thank you 🎉
Hwy. 191? More like "Looks like a whole lot of fun!" Thanks for sharing this video.
The reason why they call the Anasazi is because every since the navajo moved into the canyon they had nightmares, seeing figures and getting sick. There is a lot of make up stories about the canyon.
Thanks for sharing that video......now I know I really want to go
OK, enjoy. We should have our eBook Guide on 181 out in a few week . . . Fred
Getting ready to drive this road for a weekend roadtrip. This is really helpful info.
Enjoy, but I think you might not have allocated enough time, , , Fred
Nice video thank you Sir.
You captured the essence of what we're trying to convey to the traveling public. We should have our guide out on Hwy 191 in a couple months. It will have lots of still shots and video snippets.. This is to say nothing about the 100 or so points of interest (POIs) that we describe in detail. Exciting stuff . . . Fred
Martin Forrester ( UK) I travelled this road during one of many trips to the South West, it was a fascinating drive to the little town of Alpine at 8000 ft elevation. A place I could have happily made my home.
It sounds like u were getting some vocalizations in the background
Thank you for such a nice, interesting video.
You are welcome . . . Fred
Come on tell the truth all the writings and ruins are made by Nzvajos. God Bless!!
I once drove this unique stretch of highway. In the mid 80s it was then called hwy 666! I left Hannigan meadows at about sunset and drove southbound in a car. It was a drive that I will never forget! It's the longest most curvy road with continuous switchbacks that I have yet seen in over 50 years of driving adventure! Except meeting a head on huge charging longhorn on open range, I never saw another vehicle all night long drive. That night sky on that high elevation ridge road was bright and beautiful, and the most spectacular starlight that my eyes have seen in clearest view!!!
I remember driving US-191 in the spring, and it was so beautiful because there were orange poppies lining both sides of the highway. It must have been the southern section.
Been on that road many times. Camped at Hannigan Meadows. Beautiful.
I grew up in this area where I'm seeing this makes me so happy I lived in Safford I lived in York Valley do you know where that's at it just makes me happy to see how it's changed over the years I've not been back and almost 4 years I think are more it's just amazing seeing it so beautiful
It's a horrible road, totally not worth going to, it's super crowded, don't waste your time... :P
This assessment is not at all the experience that I had.
@@charlesgolden3419 There's rarely congestion on that road...maybe once in a great while...I think Floppy wanted to keep people away...dunno
Worst road ever. Don’t ever take it.
Im on a pilgrimage to experience the worst ever crowded stretches of road. Thanks floppy and paint
Sorry but female big horn sheep not mountain goes, correct on mule deer. Cool on highway info!!
thank you for posting this beautiful video. I may be moving to the Safford area soon.I'm not really a desert dweller ;-) currently live on the southern Oregon coast . what a change this will be ! I was hoping there would be some beautiful mountains, meadows and lakes. It really helps to get a feel for the place . Thanks !
Arizona does have all that ....In the White Mtn. area /eastern side middle of the state. Sunshine ski resort , 11,500 ft. mountain peaks , pine trees , water falls , lakes , streams and plenty of snow in the winters , fishing , horseback riding , camping , hunting etc..... drove thru there a couple years back and it is beautiful !!
So, I'm in Eugene, OR and am looking for somewhere else! What do you think of Arizona?
We had 120 acres in safford for seversl.years and it.is desert
@@diankreczmer6595 I just need one acer
Very nice views to see; btw did you say how much the cost is to tent camp inside each campground ? Thanks, yl
OK, we're making our way home now. Currently at Henry's Lake State Park CG in Island Park, ID. Just finished shooting an auto tour near our research of U.S. Hwy. 191. It and our 191 project are soooo exciting. Can hardly wait to get all the research out to the public. Expect to be home mid-October.
Hi Fred and Susie! Love the video, more inspiration to go to Canyon de Chelly! Give us a call if you have the chance. Gerry
