2024 Railroad Hobby Show

The Annual Railroad Hobby Show is one of the largest trains shows around. It is held at the Big E in West Springfield, MA at the end of January every year. They have grown to four buildings. This is a must show for anyone who loves trains.

This is after the major rain storm that melted 10-12" of snow already on the ground. If you have been on our railroad or seen our videos, you will see what is normally a dry culvert running like a small river.

Here are a few highlight shows around the NVRR. You get a good view of me running my Consolidation through the covered bridge, across and over the trestle, through the tunnel, around the front of the house, over the crossing and back into the turntable and steaming bays to blow down.

Blueberry Pass Extension

The Blueberry Pass Extension will bring another 800' to the existing 1,750' main line. It creates a reverse loop. We are in the planning phase for the Mountain Division which will add another 1,000'. It will bring the total main line to 3,550'.

Take a tour of the Nasonville Valley Railroad, a Live Steam, backyard railroad in 1-½" scale and 7-¼" gauge. We will cross the 92' long trestle, made out of local rough cut lumber, the 10' covered bridge, 20' tunnel and enter the turntable and steaming bays for blowdown.

    Thank you for posting some of the show’s highlights. When I lived in the northeast it was a must to come to this show. What a great hobby when seen with all of its displays and possibilities. Thanks for posting. I can now see the show from Florida.

    Of all Amherst Train Show videos I have seen from what I have seen this one here is the Best One I have seen it's because it showed a lot of N scale trains and it's layout for N scale Trains and I like to say thank you very much for showing this video to us ok if possible can you show more N scale trains and Layouts in the future ok it was a great video and thanks again

      Thank you! I tried to get a good look at all I could. Would have had more but I was limited on time. I'll try to get some video of my layout in the future. But it's still under construction.

    I had the privilege of working with Harold several times when he was with George Hockaday working on the NCIR ALCo S=2 and the KJR S-1. My big regret is not having the chance to spend more time with him. He was the Google of the day (1995) for ALCo locomotives.

    The CD playing is "Whirling Melodies" by Dynamic Recording and was recorded from the Stinson band organ at Ontario Beach Park, Rochester, New York (the Verbeeck organ at Seabreeze, also in Rochester and mentioned in another comment here, was recorded for the Dynamic CD "Carousel Memories"). The tunes are "Oh Lizzie" and "Silver Moon."
