So many ideas. So little time!
Karen I really love this idea.❤ You are really amazing with all your ideas.. Love them.. ❤❤❤
These turned out so gorgeous! I love the crystal embellishment too!
What a great idea. I remember when you made initials, I made the letter H for my granddaughter, and she loved it. I love today's music too; I live in Washington state and the weather is so gloomy with all the rain we've been getting; I look forward to your videos to brighten my day. 😍
Hi Karen, the two previous pendants were so pretty 😍 I really love the black one 🖤

I think patina. Love this! I’m making some right now. Waiting for the glue to dry. 🪄

Hi. Thank you for your content. I've learnt alot. I'm going to try a hand at this soon. I was wondering , about how long to the diamond cutting blades last?
@@bethbyrd9521 thank YOU! I’m thrilled to hear that you have found my videos helpful. The diamond cutting blades can last quite a while. For me, I would estimate that one blade can easily cut and shape at least a dozen individual pieces. I appreciate your interest and support! 🙏😊💖
This is an excellent demonstration of a technique that i was not aware of yet as i am just getting started in metal working. Thank you so much i hadn't realized that a rubber stamp could be used to impress hot solder! Fantastic!
Thank you, kindly! I appreciate your interest and your support! 🙏😊💖
Looks good
Thank you! 🙏😊💖
Such a great project - I love the stamping technique so much and I have the same set of mini stamps as you! I'm a bi t obsessed with the black patina!
Thx my friend! I just completed another project with stamping & patina that’ll be out in a few days! Thanks so much for your continued support! 🙏😊💖 Happy New Year! 🍾🥂🎆
I was just wondering about how to cut out different shapes in the copper tape, and I see you mentioned scissors - I’m probably late to this discussion ( I just started watching your amazing videos!) but I wonder if a paper punch would work for small shapes? Or maybe a border die with a Sizzix or other die cutter for a decorative edge?
I’m not sure about those tools only because the tape is so flimsy & fragile which is why the smaller craft scissors don’t work so well! I believe all the items you mentioned would only work with card stock thickness! I’ve used the Sizzix with 28 gauge copper sheet & that worked but anything thicker gauge didn’t! I’m sure the embossing folders would make nice patterns but I doubt the dies would effectively cut the copper foil tape! If you try it & it works please let me know! I appreciate your interest, your suggestions and your support! 🙏😊💖
intriguing ! lots of food for thought !!!!
Thank you, kindly! I appreciate your interest in your support! 🙏😊💖
Solder is full of lead. You shouldn't wear it!
It’s Lead-Free Jewelry Grade Soft Solder
Thanks..very helpful!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you found the information helpful! I appreciate your interest and support! 🙏😊💖
What kind of silver is the piece you’re using for the hook?! I’m very new at this and your videos have been awesome so far!
I’m thrilled to hear you’re enjoying the videos! As mentioned in the video I used 16 gauge “pre” tinned copper wire. You can also just use bare copper wire & “tin” it yourself! I appreciate your interest and your support! 🙏😊💖
Karen that turned out so cute. I love ❤️ it. You have such great ideas.. Happy New Year 🎆🎊🎈 May the new year bring us less pain.. ♥️🙏🏼🩷
Thanks so much! I really appreciate your kind words, wishing you a very happy new year!
Love it!
@@sallyjoligocki5011 thank you!
I would take the sheet of metal and use a large stamp and stamp one pattern on the metal and then cut the shape out. And then you can sand the back to smooth it out. It just seems like a lot of work to do it bit by bit.
@@lindsayhuff8813 thank you for your interest! Unfortunately that’s not how it would work since when you make the solder molten you have to work in small sections very quickly because the molten solder cools too quickly to do large areas, but I appreciate your suggestion. You should give it a try and experiment so you have a better understanding of how that process works. And in all actuality, it did not take very long, even though I was going back-and-forth. Not all things are done quickly when creating jewelry. I appreciate your support!
@ making jewelry is time consuming. I have been doing it for over 15 years now. Moved more into metalsmithing in the late. What is stopping you from just heating up the metal itself and embossing it or putting a pattern on it and using a dremel to create the image? I feel like there are many more efficient ways. As to keep the time down because at the end of the day our time costs money. If you want to do it with solder on top of the metal you could use a torch to keep the solder hot over a larger area so you can stamp it. Right?
I have done it. my process was completely different from yours. But the end result is similar I guess.
@@lindsayhuff8813oh I see what you’re saying now & how you are accomplishing this! Yes, 100% you can use a torch but that’s not what I was demonstrating in this particular video as most of the people creating soft soldered jewelry don’t use torches only irons but it’s effective & I have done this as well! I also create with hard solder & have an entire playlist of projects too if you’re interested in checking those out! Do you have a website or shop as I’d love to see your creations!
The star turned out great! Could use your rubber stamps to make some clay stamps to extend the life of the patterns you like? It may be more expense and trouble than just replacing the rubber ones. Just something that occurred to me.
@@sarajanehaven I have actually done that before, but not for soft soldering! I made my own impressions out of clay for use with UV resin. That large one lasted over three years so it’s probably easier just to buy new ones then to buy more clay make the impression, etc., etc. but it’s always good to think about how to do things differently as you know that’s how my brain works too! Thanks for the suggestion though and happy new year.
@@karensintuitivejewelry And a Happy New Year to you as well.
Like it just the way it is. Thank you for.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! 😊
Very interesting Karen! Do you think the grey areas are oxidized and that's why rubbing with the brass brush helps before the second application?
No, I do not think that it’s oxidized as you can tell when I initially start the application process I had just cleaned the entire piece. It is quite a mystery to me and I just keep trying to figure it out! 😂🤪🤣 It just seems as if you have to keep drying the piece and doing some burnishing of the solder helps, maybe to expose some fresh surface? I think that the copper patina works better on lead solder that is used with stained glass so I’m sure part of the issue is the lead free component of the solder that we use as jewelry makers. If you have any old solder that contains lead it would be a fun experiment to see if it gives you a better result, but I don’t have any. Wishing you a very happy new year! Thank you so much for your continued support. 🙏😊💖🍾🥂🎆
@karensintuitivejewelry yes I saw your other video where you dried it and reapplied it - that definitely worked very well!
Very nice tutorial. I had similar challenges with the copper patina on my first piece but I washed my piece off at the end. That's a mistake. And then I read the instructions more closely about drying the piece off. My second piece went very well. I made certain the piece was thoroughly cleaned and dry before I started and only wiped it dry. But I also used Sterling solder on the second piece, not Silvergleem. So it's not apples to apples.
Thx very much! Yes it’s definitely not recommended to wash it off! I haven’t had near the success with any other solder except Silvergleem!
@@karensintuitivejewelry Once my last SoulStar order gets here, I'll test both solders with the copper patina and copy you in.
Excellent! Thanks
I just haven't been online, but I really had to just pop in n wish you Merry Christmas! 🎄 🎁 You're a treasure. Just thinking of you n sending you all the good vibes. I hope you are well, Karen.✨🫂✨🙏💕🪶🪶🪶 Hopefully I can come back and watch some of your videos later. These last couple of videos look beautiful 😍. Sending all my best wishes your way, sweetie!🥰
Ah thx my friend! You’ve been on my mind a lot too! Hope you had a lovely Christmas! Let’s work towards an amazing 2025! Big Hugs! 🎅🎁🎄 🍾🥂🎆
Merry Christmas! I was trying to gather more technical info when I came across the stained glass artist Julie Feigum a while back. You may already follow her. I had previously watched her tutorials on making the dots with the solder which I found helpful but she just uploaded something new. It was a pendant that was a clear Cabochon picture frame with a vintage photo of someone’s mother from her youth and and attached to back was a mirror to wear as a long pendant necklace. Anyway, she had some interesting techniques to add texture. Since you are always doing new things I thought you may be interested if you haven’t already seen it. I just made four broken China Angel ornaments and yes, you really have to adapt and figure out what may work. I didn’t have anything but pictures so it was perplexing to figure out the fabrication but I got there in the end, lol 😊
Yes I am familiar with Julie’s work! I have made tutorials showing the twisted wire edge, as well as using chain too as decorative edges! It’s fun to experiment, isn’t it? Here’s a link to the twisted wire if you’re interested… ua-cam.com/video/or5E3woJhkE/v-deo.htmlsi=vXwdldDsGZP4vo8L Happy new year to you! 🥂🎆🍾
Love that stamping!
Hey Karen! I'm always in awe of your creativity and process. I would really like to check out the artist you referenced in this video. Could you share a link?
You can always just search her name on UA-cam because most times the links are too large to share in the video but here is the link to her channel…youtube.com/@kristinabobin?si=wloZ6cEdS81VNSAc
The doublet is a triplet, the three layers are the quartz bubble, opal layer, and black backing . Super beautiful thank you!
Thx for the info! I appreciate your interest & support! 🙏😊
Despite the struggle I think it came out great! It truly looks like an antique and the final finish matches the color of the stone perfectly.
Thx so much! I’ll continue to experiment with those decorative borders!
Great Joy! Merry Christmas to you 😍
Happy Healthy Prosperous New Year! 🍾🥂🎆
Happy Christmas Karen - here's a small contribution to buy more supplies! ❤ I love this pendant - such a great idea and it looks stunning! I guess the advantage of using a paint marker patina is it can be used on the alloy charms as well? I don't know if the novacan black patina would work on them xx
@@samanthaadams8773 Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I really appreciate your contribution, so kind of you! Happy Holidays to you! I’m obsessed with this design & will definitely be using it more! I’m always experimenting! So Fun! 🙏😊💖

I look forward to seeing your new creations starring these lovely rocks. I have lots of those enamel decorated beads and the technique is pronounced 'Cloise-en-ay'. Happy, healthy holidays to you and your's, Karen!
Thx for the pronunciation! Next time I’ll try to remember to look up proper pronunciation first! 😂🤪🤣 I’m excited too!
Hi Karen, I have had trouble posting for an hour now. I adore your stone choices; well done! The stone you are having trouble pronouncing, don’t worry about it, there are many ways to say it. The French have a beautiful way of saying things that always sound passionate, Americans; we haven’t mastered the it yet. They say to their husbands, go get bread and it sounds so romantic, we just mean business. lol. If you say it just like this, people will know what you want. “Close -oh-knee”. The French really emphasize the end of the last part of the word. The Nee/knee is important. The “A” in the middle sounds the word “ah” , not a long A. I think my favorite of the lot is the “some Creek” and the blue quartz.
Thanks very much! I really appreciate your pronunciation help! 💖
Happy Holidays!!!💙💙💙🎉🎉🎉🎉
Really nice. I missed the last couple of live feeds and had to order from the video. Still waiting on their arrival.
Hope you enjoy your new crystals! 💖
Merry Christmas Karen. 🥰
Looks like you'll have a very busy year ahead of you. How beautiful.
Thanks! I’m very excited about the projects I have planned for the coming year!🙏😊💖
Oh Karen the black opal is stunning.. You got beautiful stones. Love them..❤❤
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! 🙏😊💖
Fabulous project Karen! I'm definitely going to try one of these bracelets! I hadn't come across these aluminium blanks until i watched your channel! I have an alternative suggestion for holding pieces while soldering as I don't like the texture of the florist foam. I use unbaked polymer clay. It works well and can be remoulded unlike the foam! xx
Thx so much! Aluminum blanks of all kinds are almost always used with metal stamping projects as as with ImpressArt products! They’re inexpensive & lightweight! Check out their website for some wonderful ideas not soft soldering! Oooo thx for the tip, I never thought to use polymer clay although not sure it would’ve been the best idea for the Tourmaline Druzy stone 🤣 It would’ve been a pain digging the clay out of all the grooves BUT I’ll try to remember it for holding other projects! Thx my friend! Merry Christmas 🙏😊💖🎄🎅🎁🍾🥂🎆
@@karensintuitivejewelry yep i know what you mean about the clay potentially getting in grooves but you don't need to press it in hard or you can use several small blobs to prop everything at the same height. Have a great holiday break! xx
You are so right! I’ll definitely give this a try! Thank You! Wishing you a lovely Holiday too! 🙏😊💖🎄🎁🎅🍾🥂🎆
