    I just picked one up in sinilar condition. Had a very straight David Bradley hood sitting on it, the guy sold me the hood for $20 and gave me the Cunningham. Is there any value to these? I can't find much. Just a frame and 2 good tires (rims are shot). Not sure whether to fix it up or try to find another owner to give it the love that it needs.

    Thank goodness I came across this video and a few others, my M wouldn't come out of first. The retainer for the pin was out on the pedestal side and I guess the lever came up and would not engage any of the rails. After freeing up the lever to slide up an down due to rust I re-assembled the assembly and used a 3/8th bolt all is well for now. The pin in the lever worn which I was surprised. Thanks for this video!

    They top post looks like it needs to be tightened some more and the terminal on that large red cable could probably benefit from being changed up a little more. Aside from that, maybe try insulating things some more. A bicycle inner tube around the coil, some heat shrink around the terminals etc. No clue if it'll help but it couldn't hurt.

    Hello Mr Beard, I’m about as deep into dad’s ‘41 B. One cylinder is beautiful and the other evidently has a crack or pinhole from the water jacket. Thank you for your “Ramblings” as you call it. There’s a lot of information and details that can get overlooked, but with your play by play dialogue it is easier and more enjoyable to follow along. I have the same history of just tearing into my “toys”, however I am learning that a brief tutorial can save time, money & headaches! Bless’ns to ya sir, Tedd

    I pulled the head on our 1942 B. I didn't find a line passing thru from the block to the tappet line. But I don't know if its right. It appears to me like the line just squirts into the head, then passes thru to the adapter you have there. Did you learn anything more about this? I'm really questioning the tappet oiling on mine. If its sufficient.

    • @g.waynebeard4642
      @g.waynebeard4642 2 роки тому

      As I tried to explain this 1943 tractor is a Frankenstein tractor made up multiple years parts. At some point in the 1940s Deere changed the method of oil supply to the tappets. There were two methods That I know of. One was with an external oil line running over the top of the block and head to an oil tray above the tappets the second had a line thru the block and head ending with a fitting below the tappets which ran to an oil distribution tube above the tappets

  • @BigLeo8772
    @BigLeo8772 2 роки тому

    I have a question. On our 1942 B, there is not an oil line. Just the fitting on the head bolt that the compression fitting line that goes up to the tappet attaches to. After running for a bit, I needed to take the tappet cover off to recheck the clearance. I noticed there isn't a lot of oil up there. The outside tappets were wet, but not the center ones. The tappet oil tube is clear. But only has holes on the outer ends. Is there supposed to be holes for the inner tappets? If not, how do the inside tappets get lubed. Note, I only ran it about 2 minutes. The carb was acting up.

    • @g.waynebeard4642
      @g.waynebeard4642 2 роки тому

      I believe the oil is supposed to run down the tube and drip on the inner tappets
