The public didn't like the rear styling for '61 and Olds came within an inch of an unheard of mid year " refresh" according to automotive news I read at that time. Hence the dramatic change for ' 62. However, I have come to admire it. In fact I'm obsessed with it. What a stunning car. Four bucket sests!

My 1st car was a '61 Olds that I bought in 1968 when I was in the Marine Corps. I loved that car. Got it up to 110 mph on a back road near Camp Lejeune. Scared the crap outta me. I still dream about that car.

The Hydra-matic transmission in '61 was a disaster! We had a Super 88 with those problems. Olds finally replaced it with a '62 HDT and ran so much better!

The 56 had vents on the side of the front fenders? The car's got issues.

Car is full of rust. Body putty put over the rust including floor inner panels and braces. The guy hits it with putty knife and says its solid - yes solid hardened body putty and undercoating.

Beautiful GTO but you have to get that front bumper flush with the fenders, that was the whole mystic with the 68 to 70 GTO’s, there is to be no gaps between the fender and the front bumper, it’s suppose to flow and look like one
