For the last day of November with the festive season around the corner I decided to go to the Severn Valley Railway to Record their Santa Specials which runs Between Kidderminster and Arley and Enchanted Express which runs Between Bridgnorth and Highley The locks in action on the Santa Specials were 2 GWR 4-6-0s which were 7812 Erlestoke Manor on its first runs since returning from the West Somerset Railway and the other GWR 4-6-0 on the Santa Specials was the SVRs flagship Loco 4930 Hagley Hall. GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tank 7714 was also on the Enchanted Express.
I started my day at Highley bank to film 7714 on the first Enchanted Express run of the day. The pannier tank can be seen coming around the corner working hard up Highley Bank past the crossing with a load of 6 coaches taking passengers from Bridgnorth to Highley and back.
After Highley I went to Rifle Range between Bewdley and Kidderminster to capture 7812 Erlestoke Manor work the first return trip of its turn on the Santa Special. The manor can be heard working off Stourport triangle in the distance and then 7812 came into site at max regulator powering up the Climb towards Bewdley tunnel. Despite the wind messing up the audio a bit it was still a good shot.
After Rifle Range I went to Trimpley Resovior crossing to catch 4930 Hagley Hall working its first return run on the Second Santa special. When the Hall came after a 10 minute delay she came working around the corner whistling for the Crossing. After the hall went by I stuck around for 20 minutes to get 7812 heading to Arley on its second round trip. When the manor came she can be heard coasting around the corner and then opening up with some good sound despite it being Tender First.
After walking back up a steep hill to get back to the car from Trimpley Resovior I headed to Northwood halt to get Erlestoke Manor returning to Kidderminster. The manor can be seen coasting through the halt and then opening up to max regulator with a few Whistles despite their being a focus issue with my camera and a blurry flash mid clip it was an incredible show by the manor.
Overall it was a brilliant day to film the SVR Santa Specials with some Brilliant GWR Traction in action on the SVR. I hope you Enjoy the Video, if you do please feel free to like and subscribe for more content.
