The buttonhole knob runs $55 + tax + shipping. I hope your price adjusts for that. Pricey little knob! I wish you had shown us more of the machine, explained more about access panels, functions, how it compares to the 930 or other machines, why we should buy a Bernina. FYI Don't pull or push the fabric through the feed dog. That is going to damage the machine. The camera angle is too far back. Focus on the machine close up. Nice job of showing all the accessories, that was great! I love the perfection of the bobbin shuttle race and case. Swiss engineering with the precision of a watch.

I absolutely love this bernina 830 record. I sewed on this exact same machine in middle school home economics. I finally purchased one on ebay. It came from an estate sale. Love the red carrying case it came with. However i think they could of used a smaller carrying handle though. How muchare you asking for yours? Do you ship? Would love a second machine for travel.

Great video, I’m looking at purchasing a really clean 830 and this answered all of my questions. Would you be comfortable with sharing the final selling price?
They made an # 830 "Electronic" that had a solid state motor with more "punching power"… ( Those are a bit newer ).. This one is an "electronic" !!!

Hi Jp picks 👋 like you, im over the moom at my "new" vintage bernina 830, but i have a problem, hope you can help. Ive threaded the machine, set all the dials, then plug it in & the machine thunders away!! Without any pressure on the pedal, the needle went through my finger an hour ago while i was trying to fix things!! 😣 Any help would be so so grateful. Thanks jen
Hi Jennifer, I am just seeing your comment (1 month late). If you haven't found the problem, it sounds like it might be a stuck foot pedal switch. I actually had a Singer 401A that had a sticky foot pedal, and once a month run away full speed. I would recommend checking the range of motion of your foot pedal (while unplugged of course)if it is sticky, add some graphite powder to the hinges and if that isn't the problem, try unscrewing the foot pedal to access the insides. Maybe one of the inside components is sticking. Think of it this way, the external foot pedal actually pushes or triggers an internal switch which then sends voltage to your machine motor. If it is stuck in an on position, your motor will start running as soon as you plug it in. Hope your finger is better by now! Hope this helps!

Unfortunately I no longer have this machine, it has moved on to a great home! Hopefully by now you’ve figured out how to change your bulb and are feverishly sewing away!!
I'm new to all of this vintage sewing I saw you on Facebook. I was "gifted " my Mom's Bernina's. I have a 731 and need a knee control. Do you know where I could find one?
Hi Jean, might be hard to find a knee controller for your machine, especially if you’re looking for a Bernina original. Try keeping an eye on eBay, and call some smaller boutique sewing shops in your area, most shops don’t mess with vintage machine parts but maybe you’ll get lucky and find one that does! Good luck! JP

I have recently acquired a record 830/Bernina with the circular embroidery disks missing from insiide? I don't know the history. The machine sews though? What is your take on this please. Would appreciate your comments.
If your machine looks like it is in good shape otherwise, I would look for the missing parts! They are fairly readily available if you keep your eye out. The Bernina 830 Record is a great one if you get it up and running! Good Luck!
I agree with @jppick. Technicians of authorized Bernina dealers often have a stash of old machines that couldn't be saved (like when someone dropped it and the whole chassis lost its shape...). Those cams for the decorative stitches is something that can easily be transplanted from one machine to another.
The cam stack gears were nylon/plastic and cracked.. I have seen several with the entire cam stack removed. Be aware, parts are not readily available ( for anything- partially and oddly due to the pandemic - businesses closed, car parts are difficult to get ). Bernina is now made in Thailand, not Switzerland.. Its a "whole new world now"...

how.do you open the top part . ?
Hi Jen, you should be able to lift it up with a little force. There is no latch so just use your thumbs to press in and up like I do in the beginning of the video. Hope that helps, JP

@@mariadimennodibucchianico9034 The pedal sounds like it has blown its capacitor. You need to remove it. The machine will run fine without the capacitor. It is only there to stop radio and TV interference in old appliances. Modern radios and TVs aren't affected. No need to buy a new foot pedal.
