Thanks for another great poetry video, Frank. Though I'm definitely in the Dorothy Parker camp when it comes to Guest's poems, your A.I.-produced song and images perfectly matched the poem. So maybe now you can ask your A.I. to integrate your voice so you can sing along. Happy Thanksgiving!

My favourite Auden poem.❤️ The line ‘each sequestred in hate; nightmare of the dark, in fact, the whole poem suggest humans have always used wars to fuel their hatred and arrogance. It could easily apply to the conflicts in Europe, Middle East and Eastern Eurooe at present.
Sadly, very true...Thank you for viewing...I apprecaite it....Frank

Fantastic to hear Stevens’ measured, spacious reading of his poem. It seems that he hardly has any obvious American accent. And the choice of Debussy’s Sirènes on the video is inspired, as we know that he was a fan of the French composer, and owned many recordings
Glad you enjoyed the video and this marvelous poem by the great Wallace Stevens...hearing his reading adds so much to the work...Thanks for viewing and sharing your thoughts...I appreciate it, Rob...Frank
@@FrankIosue_NickandKnarf many composers, myself included, have tried setting his poetry, but in my humble opinion, they generally have little to add, since their is ample music in the sound of the words. Although I make one exception: Robin Holloway’s voluptuous setting of ‘Sea Surface full of Clouds. Worth hearing on YT.
Frank, very nice indeed! Lovely lyric reframed as a lovely song with arresting video. Congrats.!
Breath-taking! Turned your wonderful poem into a wonderful song. Then you created the perfect video.

Thank you, Vincenzo...Glad you enjoyed it...Appreciate your very kind words...Simon and who?...ha ha...Giggity!...Love you, Brother...My best to the family!...Francesco!
Your reading brought the vividness of the poet’s vision through to me. I learned from the introduction that Williams seems to have been a real “renaissance man” himself. It was great to see the painting that each poem referred to, and I liked the bagpipe music you included in the intro that tied into its mention in the wedding poem. Thanks for posting the video.
.I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and the poems and paintings, Lisa...Williams was truly a unique and innovative force in the poetry of the 20th century....truly, as you say, a Renaissance man", who left a legacy of unforgettable poetry....Thank you, so much, for viewing, and for your very kind words... all the best...Frank
Thanks for another great poetry video, Frank! It really brought these poems alive for me. I liked how you integrated the paintings with the text, and how you read the poems with great feeling.
Thanks so much, Gene....Glad you enjoyed the video and Williams' terrific poems and Brueghel's wonderful paintings!...always appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support...all the best!....Frank

Wow! What an accomplished life!! Returning to the crime of the scene year after year, and he ponders on Greece and St. Theresa?! But would it be a longer winter? That’s what the fields want to know? Who would be their prophet? The tail of its hair and purpose!
Thanks for viewing, Nick...yes, a long and accomplished life...Your poem was beautiful, too!...Did you make it up on your own or steal some of it?...ha ha...Seriously, I appreciate all the great support, Dear Brother!👍👍
Thank you for this presentation of Berryman’s reading. His line breaks were intriguing. I appreciate that you included his biography, which provided a perspective on his work.
Thanks for viewing, Lisa...and thanks for the very kind words...really glad you enjoyed it....Berryman was a huge influence on my writing...especially in my early days...A tragic, damaged soul...but a brilliant poet...eccentric, arrogant, but incredibly innovative and imaginative...and a master manipulator and craftsman of language and form...Thanks, again, Lisa...all the best....Frank

This is lovely. I posted it on Twitter.
Thanks for creating this, Frank. Great job! My favorite was Dream Song #14. I especially liked hearing the actual voice of Berryman and the way he performed his poems.
Thank you, so much, Gene!...I really appreciate you viewing and sharing your thoughts, and your very kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video, and these very unique and striking poems by Mr, Bones!...ha ha...Berryman was a big influence on much of my early and later writing...he has written many other outstanding "stuffs"...like "Canto Amor", "The Ball Poem", "The Moon, The Night and The Men" and "The Poet's Final Instructions"....if you're interested, worth checking into...Thanks, gain, Gene!...all the best...Frank
Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've recently discovered J.V. Cunningham. (Recently finished reading his The Exclusions of a Rhyme: Poems & Epigrams, published by Wiseblood Books, in 2022.) I like his work, a lot. Q: while reading, sometimes you didn't pause at the line break, before beginning the next line, why? (That slight pause, ending one line, setting up the next line, seems key to the punch & power of his verse, no?)
Thank you for viewing, Benjamin...I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and these wonderful poems by the masterful J.V. Cunningham...His kind of highly structured and formal / classical verse is not in favor much, nowadays...it's nice to find people who appreciate the intellect and craftsmanship displayed in these works...I have been an admirer since I was first exposed to his writing when I was an undergrad back in the early 70's...he influenced much of my own verse writing...Very good question about why I read the poems without pausing at the line breaks!...While many poets, when they read, pause longer at line breaks, you must always remember that poems are written in both sentences AND lines...The master verse writers, unlike the singers in songs, always try to subordinate the rhyme and meter so that when it is read, it reads like natural speech...not like a song...clearly, the structure and rhyme is deliberate...but, in my opinion ( and, I believe, the consensus among scholars ) the more that highly-crafted verse reads like speech ( while clearly exhibiting a mastery of craft and composition with rhyme and meter ), the greater the poetry...so, while reading the text, where we SEE the deliberate use of rhyme and meter, when a rhymed and metered poem is read aloud, that structure, in the best crafted poems, is less evident in its rigidity and musical regularity...and reads like natural speech...while still conveying the beauty and mastery of a highly organized and deliberately manufactured structure to the ear...but more subtly...that's about as well as I can explain it, Benjamin....there are poets who often prefer to exaggerate the line breaks for their desired effects...but, in general, I think the reading of a poem as "speech" and not "song" is more memorable and engaging...I hope that clarifies it or you...thanks, again, for your kind words and your thoughtful comments...I appreciate it...Frank
I hold the opposite view.
I enjoyed your selection of short poems, and of the pictures and videos that perfectly complemented them!

Mad Ireland hurt him into poetry but mad England hurled millions to their doom Their "Great War" Requiem for the slain Planned and connived without remorse To save a rotten empire
Great video, Frank! I would have to say this is my favorite. I LOVE short poems (all except haikus, which leave me cold - call it a personal failing). Of the lesser known poets, I especially enjoyed Zbigniew Herbert's "Armchairs" and Robert Kelly's "Normal" (weird kitchens, indeed). And I am glad you included one by Russell Edson, a favorite poet of mine, who also wrote wonderfully absurd prose poems. And of course how could you not include that blue-eyed boy? Once again, you have masterfully paired the poems with moving images - a real joy to watch! Thanks, Frank!
So very glad you enjoyed the selections, Gene...yes, the Herbert and Kelly poems are really wonderful...as are EECs and Edson's....I tried to get a real nice mix of well-known and lesser known works that resonate with me, and that a general audience of readers might enjoy experiencing...plus, you'd be surprised how challenging it is to find outstanding poems under 12 lines long ( and I didn't want to make the video a haiku festival....ha ha. )....as always, I try to find images and animated snippets to enhance the poetic atmospheres...I'm grateful that you feel I was as successful with that as I hoped I would be....Thank you, so much, for viewing and for your observations and comments, and for your kind words of encouragement and support, Gene.....all the best!...Frank
Frank really enjoyed the video! A great selection of, in my case, unknown poets. Still remember when you introduced me Dylan Thomas's works many, many moons ago..Wow!

Pretty cool! I really liked Armchair!
Thanks, Nick...glad you enjoyed the video...."Armchairs" is a real personal favorite of mine....My teacher and mentor back at Cal State, Henri Coulette, met and spent time with Zbigniew Herbert back in the early 70s, when I was in his writing class, and Coulette read "Armchairs" to us, when the book came out....Appreciate the support, Nicky!!!

@@FrankIosue_NickandKnarf There is a documentary made in the 1990's by English Poet Simon Armitage for the BBC called 'Looking for Robinson'. Very well put together, unfortunately it's not on yt so far.
