Dark gray stripes! A 9ll transmission will be just fine in this truck should have a 3:70-3:90 gears this beauty was built for low end torque not fuel mileage. This thing will turn heads as is.

I would have the painted stripes blue- an original old school beautiful deep bright “Royal Blue Metallic!” As for the transmission, I would go with an original replacement 9 speed, keeping it all as “ old school original “ as I could! I love the original old school trucks, because that was back when the companies knew how to make real trucks!

In my humble opinion I believe that old girl would make a nice working day cab or even with a small sleeper. I think the W-9 platform will look good no matter what you do to it

9 speed road ranger would make this truck perfect. Thats what I started with was a big cam and a 9 speed road ranger. Thank yall for doing this. So cool. I would run it however yall fix it up and get me another Palmer dump trailer and head on down the highway.
