I added a little link to my new The Hitcher review, the excellent Second Sight restoration, as I remember this from the DVD - and absolutely another compelling involving Rutger. What a talent!
Hope Rutger wouldn't mind me putting this here; when it comes to the Hitcher I think it is a father, son metaphor. It's the circle of abuse, a man who grew up in a tough environment is going to pass on toughness. That's the upper class sending their children to boarding schools as much as some dude whipping his kid with a cord. Now C s Lewis said if the children need to know there are bad people out there they also need to know there are good knights. Why would a father toughen up his son instead of being the hero?
Rutger would have made a great straight man in a comedy duo. You can see flashes of it in Wedlock, Split Second, Wilder, New World Disorder. That's my favourite Hauer. Maybe next lifetime.
Rest easy you beautiful legend
most beautiful person on this planet got damn 🥵
rutger hauer what a legend
is there a reason he looks like he has a bullet wound to his forehead?
May he rest in peace 🙏 🕊
Hauer was in a league with the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, and Jack Nicholson, in my opinion. There are iconic roles such as Ryder in “The Hitcher” and Roy in “Blade Runner that really were made by his performance. I’m not sure that anyone else could have delivered the “tears in the rain” speech or made Ryder as believable and terrifying in the way Mr. Hauer did. He’s legendary and he’s missed.
Мой самый любимый актёр! Жаль, что его уже нет....
This is relevant again...
What a legend!
That Really Make me sad, rest in peace Great rutger
R.I.p dear rutger♥️😢
Rutger you were excellent actor. You really got into your character in every role that you played. RIP Rutger Hauer.
such a big impact on my life his role the movie everything...rip rut..great guy great actor ..but how did ive missed these podcasts here..damn
Just watching this interview Rutger really enjoyed doing this film and jumped on the opportunity to push the boundaries of the character. It really shows in the movie. Rest In Peace Sir Thank You for this You are truly missed
I had to wonder at the time if Rutger had even heard of Kylie.
"Just... a little... more time!"

Rrr
One of the most gorgeous and intense men who ever lived!!! RIP
What a gem!
"Free and uncensored, at least at the moment..." RIP Rutger
I am a massive fan of Rutger and back in the day went though a spree of renting all his movies on VHS - he was an icon of cool, menace or charm and bought so much character to all his work!!
12 years past
Anyone remember this in the special features of the hitcher?
Yes! I had the DVD years ago and discovered this on it. It has stuck with me for at least 20 years now.
RIP Hauer...I’m glad you’re in a better place now. You didn’t need to see what this world and movies came to.
Brilliant. Thank you for sharing this.
What an absolute treasure. Thank you for sharing this.

Great split screen
Beautiful poem
The way he says “things you wouldn’t believe” at 5:58. You can hear Roy’s final monologue from Blade Runner. I could listen to him talk all day…
Class act
Rutger Hauer made this video specifically for me on my 23rd birthday after I tried reaching out to him several times to ask about The Hitcher. He finally replied when I sent him a special video I made of The Hitcher showing what I believed was the background of the character. I lost the original upload that I made back in 2011 but then rediscovered it a few years ago on my old hard drive and re-uploaded it: ua-cam.com/video/MoEB-wCcXPA/v-deo.html Receiving this video from Mr Hauer was truly one of the greatest birthday presents I ever had. RIP
I hope all these videos and comments will not be lost like tears in the rain 😢
it looks like the video link you provided no longer works. Is there any chance on seeing it in the future?
@@TheRealNormanBates yeah all my original uploads got lost. I'm trying to find it myself - I heard there is a website that is somehow able to recover old UA-cam videos that have now been deleted. Do you know what it is? PS. For what it's worth, here is a complete description/transcript of the video which I recall practically word-for-word because I constantly re-watched it after Rutger sent it to me, because I was in such disbelief. The video is about 60 seconds long. Rutger Hauer just faced into the camera and said: "Yes, I've been wanting to do this for a while. Talk about 'The Hitcher'. And I found your review...as an 'excuse', almost. But I cannot start it now, because I'm currently doing a comic cartoon which is kinda fun. So I'll come back, and talk about 'The Hitcher'. Maybe answer some of your questions. And just to remind you my favourite line in the movie: "Do you know how it feels when an eyeball gets punctured?" Ok I'll see you later."
God do I love UA-cam where you're able to find a short movie RIP Mr. Hauer
Rip ⭐️
Just discovering these videos now. So wonderful to have these artifacts of Rutger's incredible creativity. He is very missed.
My favorite actor with Brando, Newman and few others. Pity I will never have the honor to meet him. But my wife Francesca was the dancer of Starfish Tango. I'm soooo proud of she.
Rip Antonie and Rutger
Thank you.
''It's a dream to have a virtual place like this to exchange ideas, free of censorship.'' Well, it didn't last too long. The liberal stranglehold set in quickly and now monopolizes every major virtual forum. Anything opposing the Egalitarian cult is terminated.
The guy behind the camera really liked her
Miss You Man
What other music videos did he make? I'm only aware of this one.
RUTGER was the best. RIP
