Usage: Commonly used in roads with lighter traffic or where construction speed and lower initial cost are prioritized. Rigid Pavement: 1. Load Distribution: The concrete slab itself spreads the load over a larger area due to its rigidity. 3. Flexibility: Has little to no flexibility, so it can resist deformation under heavy loads. 4. Cost: Higher initial construction cost but lower maintenance cost, making it more cost-effective in the long term. 6. Durability: More durable and long-lasting, especially under heavy loads and in areas with high traffic volumes or extreme weather conditions. 7. Usage: Often used in highways, airports, and heavy industrial areas where high load-bearing capacity and long service life are essential. Comparison: Flexible Pavements are typically used where the loads are moderate, and cost savings during initial construction are a priority.
