Over the years, I have tried the following soft focus/diffusion filters for portraits: Cokin type Soft Diffuser Hoya Duto soft focus filter 77mm Hoya Duto soft focus filter 77mm Hoya #B Diffuser 77mm Tiffen Black Pro Mist #1 soft focus 77mm Tiffen Black Pro Mist #3 soft focus 77mm Tiffen SoftNet Diffusion #1b 67mm Tiffen Diffusion #3 67mm Sunpak Silky Soft Effect (B) 62mm Heliopan Zeiss Softar #2 62mm Hoya Center Spot 62mm Vivitar Halo-spot 52mm Tiffen Center Spot 52mm Nikon Soft Focus #2 52mm Tiffen Soft FX #1 52mm Vemar Softon 48mm All work well. The Vivitar Halo-spot is my personal favorite.

Another hack, take a clear lens protector, place a dime in the center, the paint around the dime with clear nail polish. It's less m3ssy than Vaseline.

I love film too! I use it as much as possible, so I'm so glad you said that. A great video! I can't wait to try these new filters! I'm so glad you read about these filters in a nude photography book. I'm telling you, that's the best place. You will always learn the best lighting, the best focus, the best hair and makeup, the best poses, the best everything with the more of the body you actually use. Also, I think nude photography forces you to use more indoor and incandescent lighting, which naturally forces you to become a better photographer. Super helpful information! Great video.

You should never have to put Vaseline directly on your lens why not get a clear filter the size of your lens and put Vaseline on that that way you’re not actually put it on the camera lens.. and yes they come very cheap on Amazon

People reviewing lenses explaining why you need to spend 2500$ on a new lens that will avoid a bit of chromatic aberration on the corner of the image when you are facing the sun and zoom your picture 300%… And you : putting vaseline on the filter 😂 I love it 👍🏻 I like to adapt vintage lenses on my camera, they are cheap, often a bit softer, less contrasty, and very satisfying to use 🙂

For the stockings try a fishnet style you may find you like the look better. For the Vaseline use a UV filter instead of putting it directly on the lens. Shooting through various colors of cellophane can yield interesting results as well. Prism Lens FX has some filters you'd probably love but they are a bit pricey.
