You can get terror essence from kills by nearby party members. But the larger benefit of doing terror rifts in a 4 person party in particular is that you get daily gems in terror rifts, open world, dungeons, clan towers, and maybe a few other pve modes. Terror rifts have become particularly popular for capping daily gems, which are now tracked in your buff icons when in a 4 person party. (Super inconvenient tracker imho, but it’s there now.) The other advantage as of making this guide was to call out spire locations. However, they also made terror rifts brain dead easy by automatically revealing spire locations, along with a bunch of other changes which basically made this guide outdated shortly after I uploaded it lol.

The ancestral tableau no longer requires a Warband, as of the latest major update. You can now check your tableau from the seeker’s path in the menu, where helliquary used to be. It shows three sources of cr (tableau, helliquary, and gear rank upgrades), and unlocks chests with upgrade materials once you hit certain seeker rating values. Seeker rating is the combat rating gained from those sources. There should be a description if you click in a certain place on your tableau, telling you how to earn seeker rating for it. Mao has a guide all about these different sources, with a tier list on which grant the most per hour.

Well, my second 10 remnant set I got recently was just as bad as the first. From my small sample size, two distinct rare attacker or protector remnants in the same set seems to be more rare than 10 total, and it’s also a far more meaningful goal.

1) I’ll have to try shadow sight in the depths before I switch classes, and get back to you on that. 2) I didn’t purge much when in an active Warband, because decent remnant sets are farmed relatively quickly when multiple people are purging (not necessarily together). The best answer I can give is “not that I know of.” When running solo, I have gotten sets of up to 10 remnants, and I’ve also seen as long of wing sizes as I remember doing in a party. I also did do some runs recently with one other person (in a different Warband) and didn’t notice any differences, so it should simply be possible to clear faster with more people. 3) see #2. You can see my paragon level in the video, indicating it was recent, and I got that 10 remnant sets within a few days before uploading the video. Since uploading it, I’ve found one more set of 10. Note that I ran enough purges to cap wb points solo without doing any endless defense. 4) I forget how many total rare remnants I have at most in my sets, but it definitely seems rare to get 3 distinct rare of the same role in one, which would be ideal. I have not gotten such a set yet. Remember that neither the total number of remnants nor the total number of rares in a set determine how good it is. It’s about how strong it is for a particular role. Many large and/or “high quality” sets are trash because their good remnants are spread across different roles, making them jacks of all trades but masters of none. Lately, I’ve been restarting if I don’t get at least two good remnants for the same role that I’m trying to improve in the first wing, or at least one rare remnant for one of those roles. That means you’ll be restarting a lot, but at least you won’t be wasting like 15-20 minutes just to get crap. Good luck!

And let me ask: have you tested out which base bonuses stack when multiple wb members use them, and how? In particular, damage reduced for all wb members, and attack speed for nearby allies on crit.

@ShimshonDI Unfortunately haven't. I did a little testing when warband rooms were first introduced but as you said in this video in those days it wasn't possible to have all rooms using the same base bonus. I may have to try it out though! Unfortunately it has been challenging too get all my warband to login at the same time though I suspect when the major update releases I might get the chance 😏

And you’re using the briar casque helm? Btw I haven’t played crusader to collect the latest essences yet, but it looks like the shatterbang helm will outperform briar casque. Auroth has a new dungeon build using it.

Iirc you DM’d me that it worked well in v3 for you but not v4. Which build did you use, and what rank was your charm?

I ended up switching to the Balanced and Survivability build to pull it off in v4. I was using a lvl 12 Blight Orb. I’m working on building up an Aegis right now though and I think that will make all the difference cause that first build is incredibly fun

@@CritzNGiggles I’m so glad you like it, and congrats! The higher your charm rank, the more you can go for dps. Once everyone has rank 20 charms, you’ll probably be best off even switching to stormcaller’s bones for speed clears.

I know that’s how it’s most commonly pronounced these days. I actually pronounced it this way the first time lol. All the silent letters I know of were once pronounced, so spelling used to actually match pronunciation far better. An even more extreme example is knight. The k and the gh both used to be pronounced, and the I was a simple vowel instead of a diphthong. Linguistics is one of my other nerdy interests lol.

Caps on div magic effects? What do you mean? I haven’t tested whether fire golem is based on primary or skill damage, but it would make sense if the fire aura was based on skill damage. I’ve switched classes, but I could ask Auroth if you’re interested.

If there’s a cap on beneficial effects duration, I haven’t found it, and I prioritize it very highly. The total attack speed cap was confirmed to be 100% a long time ago, by a UA-camr who used bpm detection software on the audio of a dh primary attack. More recently, Auroth said he’d heard that there may also be individual caps of 70% primary and 70% general attack speed, but neither of us have tested this. I think the best way would be to also use such bpm detection software. There is no attack speed cap on summons, but their attack speed is only affected by buffs (eg 4 vithus, 6 shepherds), not base attack speed from magic attributes or reforges, and also not from certain gems like caarsen’s or grim rhythm.

I have a video called “the true science of hauling ass: how movement speed really works” which confirms that the passive movement speed cap is 20%, and the total movement speed cap is 70%. It also lists the various sources of passive vs active (buff) movement speed, and states that movement speed buffs don’t stack. However, Auroth has found a recently-added exception to this: the latest magic affixes which increase movement speed after opening chests or other things stack with your highest movement speed buff, allowing all classes to hit the 70% cap. Auroth says these latest affixes have a higher drop chance in abyssal verge.

The downside is that you have to resummon any non-mobile mages at each spire and then boss. However, if you’re struggling to dps the boss down in time, lightning mages sounds like a reasonable tweak to make.

Mobile mages also need to be resummoned, due to them running all over the place and not following golem, ending up outside of his roar field.

Not a problem in vanguard, in my experience. But I also keep re-summoning them anyway, to trigger 4 vithus on them with the shield eternal affix.

Thank you Mao! First of all, just before you wrote that wonderful comment, Auroth outdid me imho. You might want to see how he’s making the dash horse even more insane, with some of the latest magic affixes that most players are disregarding and complaining about. I didn’t bother testing other set combos, as I wasn’t capped on attack speed even with harass of the steppes. I thought 4 vithus definitely made more sense when by far the strongest reapplied dot was from fire banner. However, with the latest shoulders which don’t depend on attack speed, 4 angmets might be worth testing again as you suggest. I have been stacking BED and CD reduction as much as I can, though I still have room for improvement. Not all my BED slots are 7.5%, not all my BED reforges are 3% (I haven’t been finding/making time to PvP much with all they’ve added to do in the game lol), and not all my CD reduction rolls are 5%. That said, in my experience I’m well above average for both BED and CD reduction. My best guess would be that maxing all possible sources might narrowly eliminate the need for blessed pebble for 100% mounted uptime without sivket’s advantage, but it’s probably required for a good 99%+ of players, and not enough for 95% of players. I was lucky enough to get an unbound 5/5 echoing shade from my own eternal crest, and I have now ranked it up to r5. Since all the 5 stars I run with are r6+, and echoing shade gets a third clone at r7, my goal with it is definitely r7. But I’m also ranking up other 5 stars. I have wolf heart at r5 now as well, and have lower ranked void spark and spiteful blood, all dormant for now.

Misery elixir and pain clasp are definitely also tried and true gems that Auroth uses for his Crusader dungeon and raid builds. Void spark is particularly good to help spread dots while farming (and decent for single target dps as well), although not needed with one of the many OP Crusader farming builds like mine and probably also yours. Maybe it would be more impactful for more players with Auroth’s, as he prioritizes dash mobility, since his dps and aoe kill power are already overkill for farming. Speaking of gems, why did you go back to all 5 stars in your second to latest wizard build video? To help you push new challenge rifts?

In my experience, bosses die plenty fast with the dungeon build I present, and movement speed is more the limiting factor in dungeon completion time. I can go way ahead of the pack and solo bosses, if playing with slow people. But if I do randoms, I sometimes also end up with people just as fast as me, and I can also form custom parties with such speed runners. The recipe to the fastest completion times is for everyone to be as fast as possible, and all attack the boss together, and then each person doesn’t need max dps. But if you’re running with other slow people and prioritize dps, you could try the raid build for dungeons, possibly swapping resplendent mane for unholy wall.

That’s definitely not as big a factor as you seem to assume it is. I’ve had 5k wings for a while, but if you see my reso in the video, I’m playing around 4k with a more ideal set of gems of different star counts. It also has a lot to do with choosing gear wisely based on the magic attributes I go over, etc. Even a f2p player can bridge the gap to someone several thousand reso higher who doesn’t optimize his build for pve. Just look at Indez’ channel to see the evidence from an actual f2p min-maxer. And the effect of cr (as long as you’re above the recommended) is even more minimal: it grants 11% increased damage when capped, and does literally nothing above that. If you want to understand the factors that impact dps in depth, I recommend Auroth’s ultimate guide to dps. It completely changed the way I thought about itemization (determining what’s *actually* a dps upgrade) and many other factors of dps optimization, most of them very f2p friendly.

Idk what your build is, but I imagine the raid build I present does significantly more than my dungeon build. You initially said your dps quadruples off horse, which would be crazy. But as I say, if you want to clear dungeons as fast as possible, you have to consider all the movement necessary to get around them. Time a full dungeon run on and off horse. And more meaningfully, average the times from many runs with the groups you tend to run with. The recent risk and rally event was an extreme example of the importance of movement speed and mobility in dungeons, but if you kill bosses in approximately 5 seconds, then a little more or less dps won’t make nearly as much difference as having the biggest movement speed buff in the game will.

I believe I show my total base cooldown reduction (from getting it on neck, gloves, both rings, and bottled hope), and I have all slots awakened. This puts me around the cap of 30% for draw and quarter. My sources for beneficial effects duration are: chest, legs, belt, boots, reforge on all 8 slots, rare head and shoulders runes, 2 vithus, and blessed pebble. Mao has a more detailed video on achieving max uptime on skills btw, with explanations including that there are two types of beneficial effects duration that work differently, and are not simply added together. Gotta get ready for work now, and my total cd reduction and beneficial effects duration may have changed since I recorded that video. But you really need to go for all sources of both attributes to achieve 100% draw and quarter uptime without sivket’s advantage. While you don’t have 100% mounted uptime, you may prefer to use those duration shoulders, and perhaps use Mao’s farming build while you’re working on those attributes. Cheers!

The armory can’t save the gear itself. It can only save the gear choices. It’s not an extension of your inventory and stash. It’s for conveniently switching between different gear and other choices. Btw the armory part of this video is still relevant, but the paragon system has totally changed. I might just have to make a new guide, at least for paragon.

@ShimshonDI In your opinion, does it matter what slot legends gems are placed. I've heard people say no, but have seen so many in the same places. For example: Blood Soaked Jade is usually in the chest piece (top/right) I find that odd if it doesn't matter. Thanks.

@@Blaine-Bizbane it doesn’t matter which slots particular gems are socketed in. However, it matters which slots are awakened. One of your highest priority goals should be to awaken all slots, if you haven’t already. Now you can purchase the necessary dawning echoes for 10k plat instead of 1k orbs, and they lowered the requirement from r10 to r5. So for a f2p, low spender, and/or new/casual/returning player, I’d recommend starting with mostly 1 and 2 star gems and taking them to r5 to awaken slots asap. For specific legendary gem recommendations that are good for certain types of content for all classes, I’d refer you to Auroth’s recent “sexiest” legendary gem guide. As for which slots to awaken first if you don’t have them all awakened yet, notice that most grant either cooldown reduction or damage to a particular skill, whereas some give less useful bonuses like life to a summon. But the awakened bonus is determined by each particular essence, so your awakenings for the same slots will often do different things for different builds. Hence why you should just prioritize awakening them all.

Imho not by any of the means we have so far. The good news is other classes are getting convenient and efficient ways to apply shock. The latest is wizards with their new slow time helm. So you may receive a shock debuff from a party or raid member. Hopefully, crusaders will get a convenient/efficient means in the future.

No. Only the highest buff applies, whichever one that is at the time. In your example, you’d have only a 30% buff the whole time, whether one or two buffs were giving you 30%.

What are you doing when it’s alternating? Using any skills that might be triggering gem effects or essence buffs? Changing stance?
