Yes, bang on! I left this person a month ago, after a volatile relationship of 10 years. I never fully understood his behaviours and finding out he was a covert narcissist, has helped me understand the situation as a whole, but it's allowed me to go on a healing journey and grow as person. I finally feel happy and free, out of the prison.

I do not really agree that giving is depicted as codependent. I am not dependant, but still a giver.i chose how I show up in this world, irrespective of how someone treats me. Even though there I did have some damage done. It's still choice to stay true to my core values.

Once I had done my research and worked it out and a professional who diagnosed him asked me what my diagnose was, he told me he is dangerous to himself and others. The professional asked me to section him but I was no longer his next of kin.

You were on point on leaving someone behind. Divorce went through recently and he was narcissistic. I am in a funk and sad and thought I was going to be happy once the divorce was finalized but I just been sad and still have love for him and miss him tremendously and I know he didn’t deserve me.
