Mountain Biking Exmoor National Park From Porlock
Переглядів 2256 місяців тому
This was day 2 of a 4 day trip to explore Quantock Hills and Exmoor. This ride starts from Porlock and explores Exmoor national Park. This was the hardest ride I’ve done due to the big long climb up to Porlock post, followed by crossing the Moors which are open to the elements with soft ground in places. The views are amazing and there was some fantastic descents near the end but it was tough g...

Do you ride a variety of different styles of mountain biking or do other sorts of riding to keep it fun and varied?
Really nice.
The Lovely Legs drop, you crazy person. The end of El Cap looks very cut up mow
Sick riding! Was this today 29th? We went there with my kid too ;)
@@mrl5786 Thanks. We rode there on the 27th
Great video, the trails look in great condition
@@DAZLIN6 Thanks, Sandy Soil is definitely better this time of year rather than Hertfordshire clay
Love the table hop 🤘
Well done, Badger Trap is actually easier to navigate down than Rat Trap, once you're round the first berm its all straight.
@@OHaraRidingBikes Cheers, I’ll go for Badger Trap next time I’m there.
Rode them for the first time a few mths ago...sick aren't they
@@olishannon_mtb they certainly are 🤟🏻
Nice. I'll give them a go once they've finished the jumps off and filled in those gaps in the middle
Do you have a .gpx file of the route to share please?
@@neilbower123 I do and happy to send it to you. Message me your email address via Instagram and I will email you the gpx. There is a link to my instagram page on my UA-cam channel homepage or search for James MTB Adventures UA-cam on instagram.
way to go guys - they have some really good runs there!
Nice video, nice bike as well. Wish i got the megawatt instead i got the reactor and mega
@@SoapDecThanks. I have the Reactor and it’s a great bike. Does big days out and bike parks 😃
Better without the 'music'.
Good effort, nice riding.... Making me want to go back there. Got to ask, what is the beeping in the video? seems to be every time you jump
@@wesleythompson5085 The beep is coming from my Garmin gps, it has a feature that counts your jumps and distance and beeps each time you jump. I’ve turned off the beep now as it was becoming annoying in videos. Thanks for you comments.
Nice, this is less than half a mile from my house.
Nice
Just abit of advice to anyone watching this don't try go down a track like this at a slow speed like this guy 😂😂😂😂 definitely gonna hurt yourself
@@joshthomas9330 The problem was I tried to slow down as I didn’t have enough speed for the double, I didn’t realise how deep it was inside the double, which is why I went over the bars. I’ve progressed quite a bit since then, so I will have more speed and confidence next time I try this trail.
💗 it
Gonna ride like devils, don't need permission, just pure adrenaline rushing
It looks an amazing trail...
@@russellcox2731 it was great with good scenery too 😀
I remember 🥵
How can we forget, I’m scarred
great vid james
Dean wasnt steaming, he was Shmokin' !
🤣
Havent yet been to Dyfi (or Wales for that matter of fact) one place I would love to go, trails look great thanks for sharing! 😁🤙
Wales has loads of great riding with trail centres and bike parks included. Dyfi is one of the more advanced bike parks due to the steepness so it would be worth going to somewhere like Bike Park Wales first as there’s a range of trails to build your progression through the day, due to there being fun blue flow trails to expert and everything in between.
Nice one James a massive road gap at about 0:46 .... maybe next time 🤟
Yeh Boi. Looks steep in places even on the GoPro. Love the soundtrack, just the rumble of tyres on the rocks. Sorry for my brakes squealing in the background.
Thought I’d let this one be natural sound, apart from your brakes 🤣 less editing to do as well
Great video you had the weather too 😀
Thanks. We definitely lucked out with the weather.
1:32 looks a brilliant descent I want to do that one, 🚴🚴🚴
It was definitely an enjoyable one 😁
Any chance you organize group rides bud? New sub here by the way. Cheers!
Thanks for the sub, much appreciated. I ride with a group based in Hertfordshire and sometimes organise rides for the group but sometimes other members organise rides as well. This was an away ride I organised for the group to New Forest.
@@JamesMTBAdventures cool any fb groups to join if in case I want to join? 😊 im based in Bedfordshire.
@@bordsUK We don’t have a Facebook page but if you Google OTT Mountain Bike Hertfordshire you will find our group. We ride from Harpenden Sunday mornings usually and do some away rides through the year. We have a Newbies ride the first Sunday of each month for new comers to try us out.
That gap is a lot scarier in person
It was a bit daunting at first and took a little while to built up to it 😳
Great Video James, just the sort of riding I love. is this a well known straight forward route to find please?
It’s hard to find the gpx on line but I managed to find it with a lot of searching around. The route is not very well sign posted but if you want the gpx feel free to message me on my Instagram link with your email address and I will send you the gpx
Looked like a cracking ride
It was a good one. More to come this year from other parts of the country 😁
Cool
Adventure riding indeed. Epic
Excellent Video 😊
Thanks ☺️
Watching here host,keep safe
well done on those gaps, a lot of airtime there,
2 years old but how far are the trails because me and my friend aren’t the fittest and just wondering if we would get knackered? Looks like a amazing place to visit
The route we done on the video was 9.8 miles. There are various routes that start from Sutton Banks so you can do longer or shorter routes depending on what you want. Its a nice area so I hope you enjoy it when you ride there.
Thx I’ve looked a bit more into it and found a map of the place saying how long each ride is and where probably going to go this weekend if the weather isn’t that bad
Which it seems it won’t be but recently with the weather being so random never know
Have a good ride@@mainaccount9463
Great video. How many trails are there up the smilog please dude? Thank you.
Thanks. I don't know how many exactly, but there are a lot. We only had an afternoon there so only scratched the surface but I think its a case of finding what you can why you are there. There is a Smilog Trails Facebook page which you can follow.
@@JamesMTBAdventures ok dude. Na I don't do Facebook. Thanks for your kind offer though. Let us know when your in Swansea City next for clyne valley, we'll hook up if you like. Stay cool. Saint Anger
Great video. That bike park looks like fun. That crash looked painful
Not to painful once I dusted myself off, luckily my knee pads took most of the impact. Its a great little bike park, perfect after a Bike Park Wales trip and one I'd visit again as the jumps where great fun.
Got a GPX of the route? Looks great
Sure, happy to send it to you. Send me a message through Instagram with your email and I will send it to you. Search James MTB Adventure UA-cam on Instagram to find my Instagram page or click the Insta link on my UA-cam homepage.
Do you have Strava or komoot? This looks like a really nice trail to ride.
It is a great route. I'm happy to send you the GPX, just send me a message with your email address through Instagram. The link to my Instagram account is on my UA-cam channel home page.
Great route James. Loved the bouncy heather descent at 03:15
As you said Chris, soft play for mountain bikers 🤣
🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙Awesome riding 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙 Slight overshoot 3:23 😂😂
It was a fun day. We need to get back there again for more progression 😀
Looked sketchy from the start. Go on something easier til your skill level is built up. If you do this without hurting yourself at the min, its by fluke
I've progressed quite a bit since then and tackled harder features as well. When I go and do this trail again I will do it with more confidence and ability.
@@JamesMTBAdventures fair enough man. Just be careful. I was riding within my ability and still managed to break my shoulder
Nice edit, just wondering where the last trail is before you go to the bike park, ride the back woods a lot but can never find that trail ? Thanks
We found this trail by accident but it was a great one to ride. I’m not exactly sure where it is but where it ends it comes out mid way on the Danesborough trail if that helps.
Thanks for the reply
Yeah boi !. Can only just see the trails through the mud and rain - which is exactly how it felt at the time
Nice video, as Chris said great editing...Again. liked the duel camara deal with your son giving another of things , worked well.
This is the only video we'll see if you wearing gloves 😄. The trails look great, but it was far too cold for me.
Never to cold, you just need to wear the right clothes, and yes even I had to wear gloves that day😆
Nice edit. I like the different perspectives of the off on A45.. Fun trails
Thanks 😊
