Always enjoy your videos and your engineering. If I was your neighbor I'd be in trouble ! Hope to see you all at another event.
Which car is your no. 17 cyclekart designed after ? It's a fantastic looking cyclekart !!
Car 17 the Talbot Lago t26c was the first Kart I built. Then the GN Spider was the 2nd one. About to start on my 3rd!
Great cart! But dude, you have a mill/lathe combo in your shop...make the bushings yourself? LOVE THE SWEATER! Cheers from Victoria
Light, noisy and FUN!!
The best design in UA-cam so far. Honest, passionate and spingy!))
Turn off the annoying music…
Yeah, that’s one of those video clips you can just put on a loop and go round and round
Hello Zach I am new to Cyclekart culture and I’m building my first machine this summer. I like what you said about not taking the craftsmanship park too far. My dad was a builder of antique automobiles. That won many awards, and I know how the hours can get eaten up trying to make everything just perfect. better I think just to enjoy the process without getting too anal about it.
Some people have the time and the skill to execute at a very high level, some people get frustrated trying to make it perfect and give up. I say error on the side of fun cause these babies are meant to be driven more then anything else.
Hello Zach. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Since my dad passed, I have discovered a strange movement in the world of antique cars. Everyone from my neighbor to Jerry Seinfeld keeps antique cars in their original shape, or just barely mechanically functioning with a view towards use rather than show perfection I think that’s a good trend. All the best with you and your projects. Thank you again Dan.
what rims did you use?
Never built any of these, but I always thought that the actual gn chain drive but with maybe only 2 gears instead of 4 would increase speed alot on a cyclecar and you don't requite a clutch. The only problem is how small and light cyclecars are for 2 chains and a separate transfer axel and everything else. One day when I have the time and space I want to attempt it.
1:00 I'm impressed by rough design of that SPIDER car, can you pls provide any info (WWW, YT, IG etc.) related with it?
I have more videos of the GN Spider on my channel if you want to know more about my build. Just posted them.
That's one of the most stylish and best-looking body types I've seen in ages. And the cycle kart is nice, too.
Your rear suspension is far more engineered and sophisticated than I first imagined, I expect it is a huge improvement over the standard, rigid rear axle CKs. Is your 1" square tube frame aluminum or steel?
The square tube is all thin walled 1” steel.
Cool-er trailer, a great idea.
81mph . Curt Reimer
Saw that but I am using gas he is doing electric
81mph speed run set by Curt Reimer . 4-7-24
Did you submit that for the Corona speed challenge?
Watched your video, good job on the run. I imagine there will be a separate category for electric cars cause it’s not really in the spirit of the the traditional cycle kart. The idea is to have a real pre-war inspiration car that your kart is modeled after and a 6.5hp engine.
Just discovered this channel and I like your choices for parts on the clone engine, having built a few for mini-bikes. Mid-range cam and 22-pound springs will help the engine live and still make adequate power to push that cycle car to 60mph easily unless it weighs 400-500 pounds. Good luck 😊
It don’t seem like Mitch but with the tall wheels that we run these cycle karts you run out of power quickly and getting past 55mph takes a lot more power and that’s asking a lot from thes little engines😅
You run it out quick because it eats any real torque you can make, but if you got the space that's how you get the speed, it just takes some time. Perhaps play around with gear ratios too, not just power output? The speeds we normally see out karts is rarely top for the engine, it's more the efficient peak speeds for the engine and gearing. A Bugatti Veyron is slower than a Mclaren F1 in a short distance despite the ~1000hp difference, but gets reeled in on the big end.
@@DaHobbyGoblin the speed challenge I am building this for “ the corona speed challenge” , for this you have 30 seconds to go as fast as you can, the. You have to turn around and repeat it in The opposition direction.
100 kph? Seems doable.
this is the car I dreamed about building when I was 9 years old.
Very cool build. I saw the bike for sale on FB marketplace and found your videos. I'm in Puyallup and have a custom 1983 c90 passport.
Yeah I only half wanted to sell it that’s why the price was so high 😉, but I do need to make room for the next build! Thanks for watching
What wheels did you use
I talk about the wheel in more detail in another video but they are Yamaha wheels
Do you notice the lack of a differential when turning tight?
Not at all, a lot of guys make a big fuss about trying to add a rear differential. I can promise you that most people who want to talk about that have never drove a cycle kart. keep in mind this is basically a fancy go kart. Have you ever drove a go kart and thought “ oh man this don’t turn I need a diff” 😂😂😂
Someone should make an E-bike with the looks of a cyclekart! That way it would be legal to use in in Europe and sell like hot cakes.
There are couple e kart builds , not sure if they are on you tube but they are on cyclekartclub.com
Dead Pedal concept is bunk. If you're wearing your belts properly tight, you won't be able to lean. If you're not wearing belts, you don't have proper control of the wheel to let you go as fast as the tyres will.
Cycle karts don’t use belt so yes dead pedals make a big difference. It’s not a car it’s a kart
@@TheJunkHunter Then you should fit belts and a roll hoop as minumim, and then you'll have better control of the steering.
She looks like she's having a lot of fun driving it!
Love the front suspension system. Dead pedal is a great idea, too. I wish I had thought of that before I built!
Ver well done! Respect from Germany!
Sweet! Enjoyed
Go Mimi 👍
Thank you for sharing your awesome creation.. can ask for one thing? Can you make another video on how the rear suspension works? Please😊 and again thank you for sharing, godbless..
I have gotten a few request for videos of the rear suspension, next time it needs servicing I will for sure document it in great detail. Thank you for the feed back!
I’m In Minnesota and never used them, but I do drain the lines. I did use one last night because our one faucet that can be used in the winter, froze up. I first used some water pipe heat cable around the faucet. That worked, sub zero and it unfroze. We’re making ice ponds to collect ice slabs for ice sculptures.
Only thing I think they may do is help eliminate the wind-chill factor (which can be substantial where I live)
Great idea, something every cyclekart should have.
@6:20 "congratulations, I've made the world's tiniest breast plate" 😅😂 good content keep it up
I just happened to catch your post and found it fun. A bit of rattle can love and you will have a really cool CT 90. Maybe add a sissy bar back from an old Stingray bicycle to give the CT an old school chopper look. I believe you live on the westside of the Cascades and judging by how you are bundled up, I think I would consider a bit of insulation for the shop as a comforting project :) .
I am just outside of Seattle. But I grew up in Minnesota, it’s only cold out in the shop a few weeks out of the year so it’s just easier to layer up my body then it is the shop!
I grew up just outside of San Diego, CA so if I layer up up, I would look like the Sta-Puff Marshmellow man and would still be cold.... Insulation is my friend in my shop! Right now here at home on the Eastside, its about 4 degrees F, which is not saying much compared to Minnesota... @@TheJunkHunter
I would suggest you do the experiment again with the cover/uncovered variable reversed, my money is on the faucets having more/less heat conducted from you homes pipes.
Nope, too cold.
Even if I did, which I might, it would make much difference because the comparison between ambient temperature and the temp of the covered pipe still shows it’s not doing anything. The uncovered faucet was acting as a control.
Junk Hunter exposing Big Faucet Cover as the scammers they are!
It’s a conspiracy for sure.
Modern faucets have a "Frost Proof" valve seat that is recessed into the wall many inches, the FP faucet also drains from the valve seat to prevent freezing damage. I wrap rags around the faucets and then install the faucet insulator, the time honored belt and suspended approach. A small effort to not to have to install a new valve or experience the joy and considerable expense of cold fractured plumbing.
@@olsonspeed you should repeat my experiment and validate your hypothesis
Exactly why I wrap my faucets before I install the questionable insulation caps.
Damm that looks fun 😊
It’s a riot!
Who needs practicality, right? Rule of cool, all the way! I like that little gas tank - perhaps mount it on the handlebars? Kinda like a tool roll.
I just got it mounted up, you can check it out in part 2 next week, it turned out pretty good
Beautifol ✌️
Can you tell me the app you use to overlay images for correct proportions? Thanks
It’s pretty basic , just called “ Dash cam”. I went on the App Store and just searched for “Dash cam with speedo”
Where? Any clubs or events near East Tennessee?

Absolutely fantastic . Every school should have a building programme. Thank you for sharing
Absolutely!
Very nice machine! Sounds and looks fantastic.
Wonder how everyone else reacted
As a retired Bicycle Mechanic I enjoyed seeing the custom straight pull 36 spoke hubs at 10:28 . Good to eliminate the weak curved head of standard spokes . Who made those ? Bearings ?
Those are KX80 Kawasaki wheels and I 100% agree with the weaker curved heads.
Is it a lawnmowers engine you use in the kart? By the way loved the vid liked n subscribed thx
The engine is a 6.5 predator motor. Basic lawn mower/ utility engine . 130$ at harbor freight or northern tool
Nice and the kart is not bad either.
You guys chose not to get together!
