    I found it interesting but at the same time, Joe was very creepy like a sociopath. Greedy, and unfortunately, he died holding a grudge against his father. I can resemble him because I had a very tough and disciplined father but I never held a grudge against him.

    This book is childish, poorly written, and has a lot of wrong information for example from the jail to the volcano that erupted it is not 5 miles, it is actually 34 miles, also indigenous people never eat horse hoof, instead they eat cow's trotters which is very different. I guess she was high at the time of the recollection of true "facts".

    Clearly, Joe is God to sales people. But there is no question their dear, late Joe, was passive aggressive and never shed the repressed guilt and anger over how his father treated him and from growing up in near poverty level conditions. It hardened him. It is evidenced in his closing comments where he recounts how he would talk to his departed mother. "I'm a bum ma, I'm a bum, I'm a RICH BUM!" (Hahaha) Money and success became his life's focus as it does in so many cases like his. He revealed his true thoughts about others that he clearly stated he did not reveal to his customers. The "I love you's and I like you's", along with all the props, including liquor were simply ploys for him to announce, "I gotcha!" That his co-workers and others in the industry booed him at awards banquets reveals what people who knew him really thought of him. If it was that evident across the board, it could not be a case of simple envy. Freud said , "He that has eyes to see and ears to hear may convince himself that no mortal can keep a secret. If his lips are silent, he chatters with his fingertips; betrayal oozes out of him at every pore." Joe had the personality traits of a narcissist talking about how he manipulated people to work for him and how the only thing he ever said to fellow employees was, 'good morning' and how he "owned people for fifty bucks" and never socialized with the people he worked with because he "couldn't sell them anything." It is all very revealing. There is a fine line between the criminal mind and the sales/business mind as evidenced in so many corporate fraud lawsuits, Ponzi (Bernie Madoff) schemes and all other manner of commercial crime. This is why people generally dislike salesmen/persons. Because they know this. They are not stupid. And, this is why the auto industry is more regulated now than it was back Joe's day. It is also why, when I buy a vehicle, I negotiate the best price I can, refuse after-deal up-sales and stipulate that there is to be no unsolicited mail or email for anything other than warranty issues. And I would certainly never be any sales person's bird dog!

      Well, no one can talk about sales, if they have never been a salesperson or a failed salesperson.

    • @Joseenriquetorres

      Sales is just business and that's how it's supposed to be treated, like business.

    • @pugnacious8543
      @pugnacious8543 3 роки тому

      @@Joseenriquetorres That is ridiculous. It's like saying noone can talk about the weather based on their own observations. It is a fallacious argument from authority and is the kind of made up reasoning that is typical of hardcore aggressive salespeople.

    • @pugnacious8543

      @@Joseenriquetorres Another fallacious argument. So that excuses all manner of sociopathic behaviour? It's a rhetorical question. No reply required.

      @Joseenriquetorres 3 роки тому

      @@pugnacious8543 hardcore agressive salesman??? All the books that he has written, that if you really read them, he never forced anyone to buy. If he had strategies and one of them was to be persuasive. But persuasion is not manipulation, it is a skill that a born salesperson has. Having a sales record for so many consecutive years cannot be sustained by mere hardore sell.

      Completely agree with you Jack. It's easy to hear the resentment everytime he talked about his dad. He never forgave him. No matter how successful he was at sales, i don't think he was authentic about his "I like you" he used to tell everyone. No doubt he was admirable anyway for being si determined and disciplined.
