Welcome aboard, Sunny People! We are gonna try and catch some big sunnies , Rios and black bass. Hopefully we come across some #CreekDaddy! We hope to enjoy some time on the water and some beautiful TX scenery! We have moved to Delaware so we will bring you lake and coastal fishing from the region until our return to Texas. Late Fall Sunfish on Killens Pond! What a Cool Pattern!
Today I went to Killens Pond State Park. We have had a few cold fronts come down this Fall, but the last front was a pretty good one. We had pretty clear bluebird skies. The wind has stopped blowing after the last hard front. I paddled all the way back into the creek mouth of the pond. This pond gets a lot of sand from the creek mouth and I figured the bluegill may be close to one of those sand flats where the minnows and baitfish will be kind of schooling in and out of the creek itself. Little did I know that they would all be chasing bait on one of the larger, shallower sand flats. This flat is bigger than a football field and can get shallower than 1'. I found most of these fish on either side of a thin, shallow trench that runs down this sand flat. It's probably only 4" deeper, but it is enough to make a difference for these bluegill. I casted a 1/32nd oz jig with 1.5"-2" natural color soft plastic and they hit it so hard it was scary. Such a great day for conditions that will typically keep most anglers (including me) home! Crazy! But, sometimes you can have a great day when you go out and Stay Sunny! 🌞

We found what we thought was a great area close to a spillway. Tough time fishing but we were still successful.

Sunny K and I finish our day on Horseys Pond. What a great day we had. We had a rough start, but we put our heads together and figured out the pattern for the larger sunfish. On our way out we get into a mess of smaller bluegill and golden shiners. Sunny K catches a nice bass or two while we troll our way to the launch ramp. Nothing better than fishing with Sunny K! Sunny K and I continue our trip to Horseys Pond and find a nice population of larger bluegill. I drift our yak to the back of the larger bay on the pond and Sunny K notices that the water is warmer in this area. We use different color jigs to see what the larger fish prefer and from there we haul in some of the nicer bluegill specimens. You gotta love when a pattern comes together!! Stay Sunny!...

Sunny K and I fish a new pond down in Sussex County DE. We caught our fair share of decent bluegill, but we also caught a very nice largemouth bass! Sunny K and I were able to take the yak out to a pretty tiny pond in Sussex County, DE. Thankfully we were the only ones on the water this day. We were able to catch a few for the dinner table and have a great time catching some of Delaware's good panfish! Sunny K loves to hear that drag click on them good ones! What part of the river is this, where exactly between what street
That preserve has a problem: all the bass a tiny. It's a sign there's too much competition for too little of food. I've never seen bluegill there and the city only stocks it with channel cats = too much competition for the same food sources. Place needs some small bluegill to give it some hope.

Sunny T next time you go fish on the ladder side. Cast out toward the center of the dam. Let it sink for 5 seconds then reel in slow. Huge slabs will come out.

What's the best pond around Laurel, DE. For bass, and when. I can't seem to find them when we camp at Trap pond I'm from the other side of the bridge
Trap Pond is pretty good but it does tend to get hammered a bit. Raccoon Pond is over looked in that same area and you can normally count on some seven bites there if the water isn’t dropping too fast. I think Records is probably the best bet in the Laurel area. More likely to stumble across a big fish there. I would say Horsey is also overlooked. Hope this helps!!

Indubitably! That was kinda the first plan once I figured that they were on beds, but the heavy vegetation didn’t really make that feasible. Definitely a better option on lakes, rivers & ponds with less veg on beds. Like Canyon and the Nueces! 😉
the first perch looked yummy! lol since I rarely eat my fish, I bet it was a keeper.

I like the gear description. Lower the rod tip to allow the spinner to engage. No need to do little jerks. Sometimes that pulls the spinner away from fish as they bite
Thank you for the feedback!😊 Some in-line spinner manufacturers make pincers that engage easier than other manufacturers. Panther Martins 1/16th oz spinners are notorious for no being the quickest to engage after they have caught a few fish and the wire starts to get bent. My Mepps spinners tend to engage free and easy as soon as they hit the water. Rooster Tails tend be hit and miss when it comes to spinner engagement. Sometimes I do the pop and flutter on spinners to catch fish on the drop!

Silver Lake Park. This was under the dam. You have to be careful there. It’s much more shallow than it looks. On the other side of the dam is much deeper but that bite is not consistent either
