Shooting it with the Sarge
Приєднався 17 гру 2018
Shooting It With The Sarge is designed to give a realistic view to current products, training styles, and tactics being used in the firearms industry. I am currently serving in a position as a Senior Firearms Instructor. I strongly believe that we as a community and culture are lacking on first hand experience and first hand knowledge.

Why NOT Appendix Carry? Glocks are UNSAFE
no accidents like the P320?
Their hammered fired guns have never had that issue
A must in the Alaska wilderness
I say a must have anywhere
This P220 10mm perfected called Legion
I agree it is my favorite
I don't have big hands. I have medium/large glove size. I put regular "splinter" grips ( the old service style type found on all of the older J frames). I get all 3 fingers on the frame. the pinky helps alot when on the gripframe. all my J frames have these grips on them, even my M442 and M642. and I don't use the latest wonder bullet, I use wadcutters. as the late , great, Paul Harrel showed us, wadcutters do a fine job . good penetration, no over penetration ( with target wadcutters , Buffalo Bore and Underwood might have some) low recoil , accurate and fast follow up shots if needed.
Definitely noticed a smoother recoil impulse when I installed mine, switched from full length guide rod to wilson flat wire recoil spring kit that comes with the Gi guide rod and much prefer the wilson kit.
I carry S&w 642
My next gun, thanks for sharing.
This gun is hand down the best EDC choice!!
Wish they’d do a 4.6” barrel and double stack magazine. In other words a P226 in 10mm Auto.
I wear one everyday.
It is a shame Sig discontinued the subcompact. I actually prefer my P320SC/R over my P365.
Great review. many thanks!
I like what you’re saying and totally agree. I just subscribed to your channel
How much do you weigh
Wish it was 10 round mag
I have seen the talon slim and like it. I’m looking for a very minimal holster with a high sweat guard and claw. So many holsters have a TON of extra material that makes it feel huge when jamming it down your shorts/pants. Any other recommendations for slim/compact holsters?
Gun owners tend to get clichish and pedantic about all the wrong things. There are two primary schools of thought; the first holds that since nothing is a guaranteed one-shot stop, multiple fast, accurate hits with a bare minimum accepted standard is preferred. The other holds that the first good hit usually wins. Since hits in this school are qualitative in addition to quantitative, the perceived fight stopping ability of the round is more important than capacity and .015 sec splits. The first school obviously garners the most support from the professional circles at the moment, but an astute macro perspective of the history of these schools yeilds that they fall in and out of favor in circles. Because neither is wrong and forsaking the benefits of either too strongly in favor of the other is foolish. We need balance. Yes, capacity and controllability are both important, but so is power and ergonomics. In the end, where you draw the line isn't nearly as important as we often make it seem. If you ever need to use it, the make, model, ammunition, and technical details will be superfluous compared to how you performed with it. Don't zig when you should zag, keep your head on a swivel, don't go looking for trouble, but if trouble finds you remember anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice and don't hit a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.
One shot stopping power is king
made sure i paid over $100 for my IWB. holster censored tactical has great holsters u definitely can’t be cheap buying a holster gotta practice that drawing ur handgun out & reholster. everybody i know carry’s appendix & i take notes from everybody especially my instructor that shoots in competition
I love my glock 42, hate guns without manual safety. Added the sliderlock trigger safety and now I'm carrying chambered with the chances reduced 1000 fold for negligent discharge including an innocent bystander. Simple push on the button from my trigger finger and ready to fire. So I have for ME! A glock set up as I am familiar and confident. Not to mention just plain responsibie as a concealed carrier. I also added the ghost edge connector and polished the trigger bar for a fantastic trigger pull as to add the safety trigger the assembly has to come out. Not for everyone I realize for some a safety is a negitive and that is perfectly fine. come out.
What holster is that?
A revolver could be faster to reload then two empty mags. Possibly getting the revolver back into a fight vs a semi while having to reload mags or single shot lol
Didn’t even know they had this available. I have the Inco X for my 365 and it’s been a great ulcer. I plan on getting one of these for my 442.
Look at LOK grips wrap around voloce grips.
Plus theres not enough tension on the striker spring to set off the primer. When squeezing the trigger it puts more tension on the spring to send the striker forward
This is my EDC.
Fingers make mistakes
Will it fit a blunderbuss?
Doesn't matter how good the holster is , the accidents happen when drawing or reholster
Sorry man, yes, you have “one source” but that now weighs 75 or 80 lbs. I split the difference and usually use low profile MTM 100 rd plastic ammo boxes and stack them inside this size can or a large MTM can. Depending on the can I can get 6 or 7 boxes or 600 - 700 rounds standing on end. It’s easy to grab a hundred round box,and the ammo isn’t exposed to possible moisture, and sorry again, but the Harbor Freight metal cans aren’t milspec and the lids are looser. Just a little moisture and you have 2000 rounds with exposed primers getting corroded. If the ammo comes in more compact boxes like RWS sells, then the ammo stays in the boxes. How are you going to just grab a couple hundred rounds out of that can? Or get it out of your car and across a field or up a hill? I’ve got ammo stored that’s 40 years old, and yeah, it takes more cans than you have, but none of it is loose, and it’s all in great shape. I DO store bulk bullets for reloading this way, in double bagged plastic bags which are then put in an ammo can. Even a few hundred bullets gets very heavy quick, but I’m not humping just bullets to the range, typically 100 or 200 rds of whatever calibers I’m shooting that day. In fairness I can absolutely see keeping ammo for long term storage this way, but IN plastic bags inside the can with no expectation of carrying the can very far to the car or range, or whatever. That might work and allow you to store a lot more in the same space, but in my case I’d want to be able to grab and go quickly when the need arises. Hey, whatever works for you brother, but not how I store long term. 🙏
I grew up with the 1911 and to this day I carry it because it is what I know. I have a Browning 1911 style 380 that addresses size. I also have a Ruger 380 max and a Taurus 38 special revolver in my rotation. Carry what you have confidence in. I love the comments about 1911 capacity. The impact of the .45 round means you only need one hit. I guess if your defensive depends on spray and pray.
Your still breaking firearms rules carrying appendix. That ends the argument, your not special the rules apply to you , what can go wrong will go wrong and dont point a loaded firearm at yourself. It’s not an argument saying if you’re not confident or know your firearm those are not arguments.
No matter which way you conceal carry, you will always be pointing a gun at yourself. Unless it’s a 3 o’clock level 3 duty holster, like a safariland, you will always point a gun at yourself at some point whether you’re holstering, or walking.
@@cedricabram2328 what no it’s not unless your an idiot and carry appendix
Sorry but this is just silly nonsense. By that logic you cant carry any gun ever, especially iwb as it is impossible to do so in a way that no matter how you move, stand, sit ect you never have the muzzle oriented towards yourself or someone else. A gun in a proper holster is not pointed at anything and since the trigger is completely covered is rendered safe anyway. Something pointing is an action. An gun cannot perform any action by itself. For a gun to be pointed, it has to be in your hand.
I just dont get the fascination with 10mm /40 We have more than adequate established calibers that are widely available at reasonable prices
America. I own several of the adequate established calibers.
It's kinda like driving a 1970 Challenger. You don't need a 426 Hemi, and there are plenty of more efficient and established options, but the American identity has not traditionally cared much for the status quo. We want excessive. We want the biggest, fastest, strongest; while others cut serving size, focus on fuel economy, and complain if their carry options weigh more than their triple caramel macchiato, we have a 12 oz steak wrapped in bacon for breakfast, drive V8s to the grocery store, and carry full size guns that can and have staggered a Cape Buffalo. You do you, boo. But personally, I've shot so much 10mm that I find 9mm and .45 to be underwhelming and anticlimactic. I like having more. Like putting your foot into that 426 Hemi, it just feels right. I hear a supersonic 200 gr JHP hit a plate, see that transfer of momentum, that energy, and it makes me smile. Why would I go back to stale and bland 9mm? Because everyone else does? I don't understand socks with Crocs, wearing hats with their bills sideways or half the stuff kids do these days. I still wear my pants on my waste with a belt and carry a full-size handgun.
Doing research and popped up. I have gone with Wilson Combat's Flat Wire on my 45's. I placed the first on a SA Garrison. Immediate improvement in cycling and creating a predictable recoil impulse. I'm not recoil sensitive, I like smooth. Since then, I have been exploring on my Commander size pistols. I now have Nighthawk's Everlast, EGW, and new Ed Brown. This started when I picked up a circa 1996 pistol with a FLGR. One distinguishing thing on this specimen. There was no hole drilled in the FLGR for a tool or paperclip. Reassembly was difficult. What is interesting Wilson has moved away from supporting this on the Commander size only, Compact or Full size. Ok, Hello Nighthawk or EGW. The Garrison, I went with the GI version and have switched to the FLGR. Wow, the shooting aspect is an improvement. The further away from the Gov. Size the recoil timing speed is increased. I have moved to FLGR's on all but a couple of mine. One already has a Wolf Variable power installed. I'll wear that out first. The second has the recoil spring tunnel step so it is slated for the GI version. I have nearly identical sights across the board. Nearly identical trigger pull weight. For me this makes things easier. The thing about the 1911 platform, 3 yr, 5yr, 10yr old information is valid today. 3 years later, How are they holding up? Good vid.
They are holding up probably 5,000 rounds in the past couple years zero issues
I looked at the Glock 43X and the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield Subcompact 2.0 with a manual safety for CC. I went with the Smith. I have all S&W products. I saw a video of a dude that was carrying. Looks like he turned the wrong way and the firearm discharged. He hunched over and blood ran down his pants. Not sure if he didn’t have a holster or what but it didn’t really see what he did wrong. Cool channel BTW.
I am 100% confident without seeing the video you are referring to, that guy either had something inside of the trigger guard or has made some modifications to the pistol which effected the functionality of the pistol. I have complete trust in M&Ps and Glocks functioning correctly due to using them for work.
@@shootingitwiththesarge You’re a professional though. I doubt he was. Granted, I felt bad watching that video. I have all Smith and Wesson firearms. Love em. Bout to get a third one.
Definitely get whatever you want. But I would for sure find a quality trainer and spend more time on the range. I focused heavy on that early on and now focus on building my collection.
Can you please suggest which model I choose PRW-35, or PRG601, two which one is better? My wrist size is 6.25”, also I love analogue watches, I am a beginner in these Casio proteck models
You can’t go wrong with any protrek model. It’s all personal choice. The protreks are great. When it comes to needing my features the protrek is my choice, when it comes to strictly analog I am either wearing a Resco Instruments or a Seiko Samurai.
@@shootingitwiththesarge Thanks:)
That's a good watch
I think so
So on your one thousand and one shot, thats when your striker will fail? I understand getting used to your carry piece is important but im still on the fence about launching a ton of rounds through your carry pewpew
I shoot my carry gun pretty regularly and as long as you keep track of round count and parts replacement, I don’t see an issue.
Very nice Indeed, i just ordered the optics ready SAO version yesterday 😊
That’s awesome. Let me know how you like it
@@shootingitwiththesarge Wow, I actually like the Sig X-Ten, I've had zero issues or malfunctions since 10/22, The P220 Legion 10mm SAO is in a different league! I may sell or trade the X-Ten. I'm glad I watched your videos!
The X-ten is on my list. But absolutely the P220 is my favorite
Nice looking holster. just bought the same gun. What is the wing for you mentioned?
To push the grip of the pistol behind the belt line. Holsters without a claw have the grip of the pistol either sitting parallel or just a little bit over the belt line.
@@shootingitwiththesarge thanks for the info.
Can you really do a 25-yard headshot that's pretty incredible😮😮😮😮
I use big seal bags inside of the ammo can. My apartment gets very humid, I put silica packs inside the bag and in the can itself. A pack of 100 silica packs is like $9 it’s honestly worth it.
Where can you find a full-size?
Maybe on the used market on gbroker. They are discontinued from everything I saw recently
I need iwb for beretta 92a1 with rail. I want craft leather. Thank scootch
Se nota de aquí a china que lleva algo en los pantalones 😂
Great review brother, i have the p229 and p226 both legion and im on the fence if i should get the p220 10mm legion
The way I look at it is….. 100% get it. To me the 10mm is worth getting especially if you are an outdoorsman. It’s a great companion
I wish I could afford to buy myself a SIG Sauer P220 Legion 5" DA/SA in 10mm Auto, but I simply can't at this point. My 4.4" 9mm Luger SIG Sauer P226 MK25 is the best, most accurate 9mm Luger pistol I've ever fired out to 100 yards, much less owned. Good things! 👍
Awesome the P226 is next on my list. How do you like the MK25
@shootingitwiththesarge I love my P226 MK25. It's the one pistol of mine that I'll never sell or trade. It'll stay in my collection until I leave this Earth, at which point it will go to my son. I've found my P226 MK25 to be flawlessly reliable, extremely accurate, and so smooth in its operation. I'd say I've run about 4,000 rounds through it... it's never malfunctioned. I most typically run Underwood Ammo (UA) 9mm Luger 124 Gr +P FN FMJ loads for practice, as it feels identical to my favorite 9mm Luger carry load, UA 124 Gr +P (Speer Gold Dot) Bonded JHP. I purchased it, used, in late 2015, for $730. It came with the SIG Short Reset Trigger already installed, which is really sweet. The original SIGlite steel tritium night sights faded, so I replaced them about three years ago with a set of Trijicon HD steel tritium night sights. The original stock polymer P226 grip panels have been replaced with much grippier G10 grips (about 2 years ago). When I street carry this pistol, I do so with flush fitting Mec-Gar 18-round 9mm Luger magazines for 18+1 capacity, vs. the original stock SIG 15-round mags. For woods carry, I run UA 9mm Luger +P 147 Gr FN HCL loads in a Mec-Gar 20-round extended magazine (20+1 capacity). She's not seen much use since Aug2022 when I acquired a $599 10mm Auto pistol, primarily for woods carry, but the 10mm Auto catridge is so satisfying and enjoyable to shoot that I street carry my 10mm Auto now during the winter, too. But my 10mm is just a striker-fired polymer wonder pistol, not an all-metal DA/SA hammer-fired keeper like my P226 MK25. Good things! 👍
I appreciate the feedback of your P226. I’ll definitely take that in to consideration when I purchase one. Thanks!
Maybe demonstrate it or something. wtf
I have. It’s a short wtf
J frame > chunking rocks
Alright
Good review ! Would Always include unloaded weight.
Thanks. I have never cared about it myself. So I don’t add it in the reviews.
I just picked one of these up a little more than a week ago. I'm just excited to own my first 45, but it was even sweeter that it is a shield. Thanks for the review:-)
It’s great. Honestly my favorite of the shied line up.
